Only David Byrne could come up with something like this. A simple stage setting that is absolutely amazing. Sending out a CD of the songs he will be singing was a class move. He updated the percussions tempo on his older songs too. Absolutely great!

    Great time!

by THIP on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

David Byrne is one extremely talented musician and classy guy. Loved the uniqueness of this concert where it was 'wireless' and the performers so energetically moved. Great energy and good time.

American Utopia in my top ten shows!

by MikieandSuzi on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Great ensemble band and choreography for each song. New album, previous solo albums and Talking Heads material all tightly woven together.

Incredable show. The wireless band was amazing and enabled the show to be part performance art part music.

Evening with David Byrne and friends

by ByrneFan on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

It is hard to believe that the first time I saw David Byrne was almost 40 years ago. He was on SNL with the Talking Heads, and they played Take Me To The River. I have followed his music ever since. This was the first time I was able to see him live in all that time, and I had the joy of bringing my daughter with me. As we realized afterwards, this was the first live concert we watched together, and to our delight, it was one of the most enjoyable and entertaining experiences we have shared together. Thank you Mr. Byrne for all the wonderful music and memories over the years.

    so much more than expected

by Pennylynn on 2018-05-24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

12 people on stage with 10 of them carrying portable instruments. Choreography, backup singers and overall look was very good. We were impressed with Byrne"s vocals and stamina on stage.

Hands Down Coolest Concert I've Seen in My Life!

by JohnandSharon on 2013-06-23State Theatre - Portland

After being a fan for 30 years, this marks the first time seeing my favorite creative artist ever, David Byrne, live. Not only was he so amazing but Annie was so cool and talented herself and the "brass tactics" (8-piece horns/brass, drums and keys too) were so awesome, only David and Annie could have thought of this (choreographing the band for each number of the entire set) and pulled it off. Our highlight (for both my wife and I) was Wild, Wild Life, with each member of the band sharing pieces of the vocals! I mean really???!!!! That was just such an amazing performance as the entire band formed a circle "in motion" as each member stepped up to the mic and sang the next line in the song, it's hard to capture it in words how much fun that was for the band and for the audience. My personal fave song for 3 decades - Home (Naive Melody) was another turn at total artistic uniqueness, with Davids quirky dance maneuvers, at times comical, inventive and definitely tongue-in-cheek fun. All in all, a beautiful display of artistic professionalism, musicianship and camaraderie and of course, uniqueness. Oh yeah, and Annie's robot shuffle - sexy and cool! Another awesome event was the electrical charge that literally sent shockwaves through the crowd when Burning Down the House started to play. Sharon and I couldn't have asked for a better song to end the show, Road to Nowhere. Can't wait to see what either artist does next in life!

David Byrne & St. Vincent burned the house down!

by cdn3034 on 2012-11-01The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

David Byrne with St. Vincent blew us away with their fiery performances. The backing band was made up of some killer horn players who pulled off the incredible arrangements from Love This Giant and others... did choreographed movements and danced throughout the over 2 hour performance. Amazing! I would go see them again anytime. David Byrne was excellent as always...the real x-factor for us was St. Vincent and whether she could measure up to his performance... she truly did. I hope she returns to town soon on a solo tour. And they did 3 encores!

Byrne & St. Vincent - Bold, Brassy and Beautiful!

by ChaosReigns on 2012-10-29The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

David Byrne & St. Vincent. I didn't understand the pairing until I went to "Love the Giant." They came; I saw; I was conquered. What a performance. The blending of these two striking voices; the trading off of songs from their work to his work to her work; the choreography of the brass ensemble....it was sheer poetry; sheer art; sheer genius; sheer beauty. I would go again and again and again. I "Love(d) the Giant" and you will too.

DB and AC put on an excellent show

by NickSaliva on 2012-10-25The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Very Good Show. Music and the overall performance from all on the stage achieved near perfection. I was pleasantly surprised with the contributions of AC.....but...it was a little dissapointing to see a living legend such as David Byrne spending so much time singing back-up and dancing with the musicians. More David Byrne at centre stage would have made the show perfect. I was amazed to hear DB invite the audiance to photograph or tape the performance. How often does that ever happen?

    They Were Great!

by AJ044 on 2012-10-23The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I saw David Byrne when he came for his last album. And this time he outdid himself. Quirky and creative as usual. Annie was equally quirky and creative. She sounded a bit like Kate Bush and had the stage presence of Laurie Anderson. Together, they were magic. Wonderful harmonies and they played well off of each other. The band was great and as usual David put on a creative stage show - he did not just stand there and sing. Excellent concert - just as expected.

    Great Entertainment

by Malamute on 2012-10-23The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I saw David Byrne many years ago during the "stop making sense" tour, and it was one of the most entertaining shows I had ever seen. I had no idea who St. Vincent was before this concert. The band was awesome. An eight piece horn section replaced the usual bass and percussion section, and I could not take my eyes off St. Vincent. She had many of the quirks that made David Byrne or even David Bowie such great entertainers. I am now a fan of hers.

Always leave with the one that brought you.

by phiphi on 2012-10-22The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

He played two songs that we knew. All those great songs he recorded and we never got to hear any of them.. From now on, I will always get a playlist before buying the tickets. Too many times I've been dissappointed by my favorite musicians trying to cram new stuff down my throat. Musicians are getting paid by their fans to play what the fans like, not what they like to play..
