we see a lot of shows every year and this show was by far that best of the year. david and annie were born to perform together. both so quirky and talented. amazing show

  • David Byrne & St. Vincent burned the house down!

by cdn3034 on 2012-11-01The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

David Byrne with St. Vincent blew us away with their fiery performances. The backing band was made up of some killer horn players who pulled off the incredible arrangements from Love This Giant and others... did choreographed movements and danced throughout the over 2 hour performance. Amazing! I would go see them again anytime. David Byrne was excellent as always...the real x-factor for us was St. Vincent and whether she could measure up to his performance... she truly did. I hope she returns to town soon on a solo tour. And they did 3 encores!

  • Byrne & St. Vincent - Bold, Brassy and Beautiful!

by ChaosReigns on 2012-10-29The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

David Byrne & St. Vincent. I didn't understand the pairing until I went to "Love the Giant." They came; I saw; I was conquered. What a performance. The blending of these two striking voices; the trading off of songs from their work to his work to her work; the choreography of the brass ensemble....it was sheer poetry; sheer art; sheer genius; sheer beauty. I would go again and again and again. I "Love(d) the Giant" and you will too.

  • DB and AC put on an excellent show

by NickSaliva on 2012-10-25The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Very Good Show. Music and the overall performance from all on the stage achieved near perfection. I was pleasantly surprised with the contributions of AC.....but...it was a little dissapointing to see a living legend such as David Byrne spending so much time singing back-up and dancing with the musicians. More David Byrne at centre stage would have made the show perfect. I was amazed to hear DB invite the audiance to photograph or tape the performance. How often does that ever happen?

  • They Were Great!

by AJ044 on 2012-10-23The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I saw David Byrne when he came for his last album. And this time he outdid himself. Quirky and creative as usual. Annie was equally quirky and creative. She sounded a bit like Kate Bush and had the stage presence of Laurie Anderson. Together, they were magic. Wonderful harmonies and they played well off of each other. The band was great and as usual David put on a creative stage show - he did not just stand there and sing. Excellent concert - just as expected.

  • Great Entertainment

by Malamute on 2012-10-23The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I saw David Byrne many years ago during the "stop making sense" tour, and it was one of the most entertaining shows I had ever seen. I had no idea who St. Vincent was before this concert. The band was awesome. An eight piece horn section replaced the usual bass and percussion section, and I could not take my eyes off St. Vincent. She had many of the quirks that made David Byrne or even David Bowie such great entertainers. I am now a fan of hers.

  • David Byrne & St. Vincent show was amazing!

  • Always leave with the one that brought you.

He played two songs that we knew. All those great songs he recorded and we never got to hear any of them.. From now on, I will always get a playlist before buying the tickets. Too many times I've been dissappointed by my favorite musicians trying to cram new stuff down my throat. Musicians are getting paid by their fans to play what the fans like, not what they like to play..

Classic David Byrne with the unforgettable St. Vincent!

  • Swanky and Chic

David's style spills over to St. Vincent and it makes for a 80's retro experience. The music is fantastic and the presentation is unbeatable.

  • David Byrne - always a great show

by Anonymous on 2012-09-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was nice to see and hear David Byrne again. What is great with his shows is that he always blends new music with old favourites. This year with the addition of St. Vincent, the blend of big band sounds was really a welcome addition.

I have seen David Byrne in concert a total of 5 times. This was not the best of the 5, but still worth seeing.......... he's always worth seeing.

  • So much fun!!!!

St. Vincent, besides being gorgeous, is a unique guitar player and has an amazing voice. David Byrne reminded me why I liked Talking Heads back in the day. His voice was exactly the same. He had the same quirky dance moves and he was intelligent and fun at the same time. The choreography with the horns, choreography with each other, inventive music. Stellar show and so much fun.
