He put on an amazing show even though he didn't have an opening act. The drummer with a Captain America costume. What's up with that? Pretty funny.

    David Cook Rocks!!!!

by icehockey on 2009-11-19Casino Rama - Orillia

The concert was fabulous from moment one. David was engaging and kept the audience involved throughout the performance. The lead guitarist was amazing...man could he play. I will definately see David again when he comes anywhere close to here.

Enjoyable event, David is at the beginning of his career, still fresh and very gentle. His voice is unforgettable. I found the event too short - one hour concert is not enough time compared to two hours driving time to Orillia one way. I wonder why the volume has to be so high(it is on any rock concert); you can hardly hear the tunes. It was surprising to me that some people were standing instead of sitting; three large individuals right in front of me completely blocked my view. Thank God for the large screen TV. The space should be created somewhere in the front for those who enjoy standing and dancing during the concert without disturbing the others who enjoy listening. Thank you.

    David needs direction.

by Arwenkf on 2009-11-18Casino Rama - Orillia

I enjoyed David very much throughout the AI experience. Seeing him live was great although he really needs a good manager. He needs to develop a bit more stage presence and his songs need to sound a little different from each other. I felt like I listened to the same song for most of the night. I'm glad I went to see him but his set was very short.

    David Cook! I want more!

    by pat14 on 2009-11-18Casino Rama - Orillia

David Cook's concert at Casino Rama was fabulous. The venue was perfect - big enough to recognize the size of his fan base but small enough to feel that he was really there. And he really was. His singing and rapport with the audience are second to none. The Anthemic holds up its part of the equation with perfection. My only complaint was the length of the concert. One hour and 15 minutes is not enough. I would gladly pay more than twice the price for the ticket to get twice as much of their time.

David Cook was good but short &minus songs

by hick on 2009-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia

Tough audience as it was made up of largely middle age or older. Good voice and instrumentals with reasonable show. Only played for 75 minutes and sang only a couple of album songs. He tries to come across as a rocker but his voice and songs are pop to ballad.

    Down to Earth

    by Cristina26 on 2009-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia

I always love concerts at Casino Rama, the acoustics here are amazing. The stage set up was minimal but it packed a punch. He came out with Mr.Sensitive and the sound was dead on. He sounded better live than on cd. He had us out of our seats, the whole night. His last song, he came out into the crowd with his guitar, yes you read right, he came out into the crowd. It was amazing, he is so down to earth it's incredible my reasoning for that was his interactiveness with the crowd and to top the whole concert off was, on our way out to our car, we were stopped by a gathering of girls by the side of the building, walking over to see what all the fuss was about I was amazed to see David Cook signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans. I was like, nooooo way!!! He was in no rush to go, he took as many pictures as you wanted with him and had conversations with his fans. There was no pushing or shoving. I took my picture and was satisfied. He is amazing and put on a fantastic concert!!! Thank you David Cook.

David Cook - I'd rather watch him on TV

by GramaSue on 2009-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia

I was really looking forward to seeing and hearing this young man. Cheered him on when he won Idol. I paid the ticket prices for myself and my daughter, we drove an hour to get to Casino Rama to see the show, and I have to say we feel a bit ripped off. The show started at 8:00 and ended abruptly at 9:15. No encores. Well, he did say "Thank you, Canada", and waved and walked off, but the only way the audience knew the show was really over was when the lights went on and the stage was being dismantled. There were even a couple of unannounced "breaks" for the band during the show, where the lights went down and you could see the band members leaving the stage for a few minutes, but no explanation, so the audience was left sitting in the dark, wondering what the heck was going on. His references during his "talks" to the holidays coming up indicated that he really doesn't know that Canada has already celebrated their Thanksgiving, and is now preparing for Christmas. Hey, if you're going to tour and perform in Canada, at least have a little bit of knowledge about our country! The other thing was, although I realize it was a rock show, and everything is LOUD, the band seemed to be competing with Cook's singing, so that you couldn't hear the words to the songs over the guitars. On a more favourable note, the light show accompanying the music was amazing! And it was nice that Cook introduced the band members [which is a common occurrence during a show], but he mentioned that during a previous show in Windsor, he had neglected to do so, and someone had called him on it. I hope he makes that a regular part of his show, as mostly everyone wants to know who the rest of the band is. During the last song, he came right out into the audience and stood among his fans and enjoyed his own band, which was a thrill for those close to him. The part where he walked to the sides and front of the stage and took a bow at each spot was also a nice touch - I wonder if that was his Mom's idea. All in all, I would say that this very talented young man has a lot to learn about entertaining a live audience, but he has a good start and I'm sure he'll improve with experience.

David Cook at Casino Rama great show iffy audience

by OttawaReviewer on 2009-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia

This would have been 5 stars except for the audience. David and The Anthemic were amazing! The sound and lighting were fantastic. However, a significant percentage of the audience were stuck in their seats. I suspect many may have been expecting either "American Idol" and/or David Archuleta, but NOT a GREAT rock concert. If I'd been on the floor I may have had a much better time - as it was I felt guilty for trying to have a good time.

    David Cook

by NYSE on 2009-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia

i enjoyed the concert very much but I, and my friends thought it was way too short!! He played for 1 hour, thats it. It was over by 9:15. What;s that all about? We drove over an hout to get there, to see him only for an hour? Also, he should have sang his Idol song. I was also disappointed about the crowds enthusiasum and I think he was really disappointed with it as well.

    David Cook Rocked Rama!

by AlisonK on 2009-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia

David Cook's performance last night at Casino Rama was fantastic. He sang selections from his current and first album, as well as debuted a song from his upcoming album (was great!). At one point, he had the mics turned off and had his band stop playing. It was just him singing and we could hear him way at the back of the theatre. His voice is strong and fantastic - he sounds as good as he does on his album, even when having to project to be heard. No lip syncing at this concert! David is very funny and interacts very well with the audience. People should note that this is not the American Idol tour - David is well past that and is now performing his own music - lots of great rock. The concert was just over an hour long but I enjoyed every moment. After, he happily signed autographs and took pictures outside with fans.

David Cook gave an amazing performance. I thought it was great at how much time he took in between singing to talk to his audience.

    mis-billed

by xiek on 2009-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia

well I was at this event due to a friend saying that the script was opening for him, and that was our main reason for going.. needless to say, they did not for this show. our mistake? maybe, misbilled on a website, maybe as well. the show was VERY short, but not surprising, he only has 1 cd out. $81 a seat for 60 mins... not that good of an Idol IMO.

David Cook was over too Quick!

    by Stillcrazy4Cook on 2009-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia

Although still a huge fan of his voice, we found the concert ended way too soon..maybe once a second cd is released he will have more to perform?? Too much talking and not enough singing content.

I love David’s Cook voice and songs, the band was amazing, and he is not only a good singer and artist but also a great entertainment.
