    Needs work

by Anonymous on 2018-02-06Rogers Place - Edmonton

The competition in its self was okay. I would have been nice to see a 3 on 3 or even have the pros verses the kids. It just left fans wanting more. What I was most upset about was the seating. Me and my family couldn't sit together, because when I bought the tickets there were no seats side by side for 6. So we sat in 3 different spots and then when the event happened there were so many open seats in all areas that had no occupents this was the most upsetting of all especially because this was supposed to be a family event and I couldn't even enjoy with my whole family seeing we were all in separate seat. Other then that it was a good event and the children did enjoy seeing the Oilers in action.

First time attending Oilers Skills Competition

by Angelarrow on 2017-01-18Rogers Place - Edmonton

This was a great way to buy a stocking stuffer for family members and go together to enjoy a fun, family event. In the first 45 minutes, we felt engaged by the activity on the ice and by the announcers and players. However, we all commented on how we found ourselves getting bored in the last third of the event. I'm not sure if it was a case of players being tired, or us being tired, but it was a general consensus among all of us. Overall, I would still recommend this event, and would still attend again!

To Me (Without Kids) it was Take It or Leave It

by fordie on 2017-01-18Rogers Place - Edmonton

I came without kids so I can't say it was all that exciting. I found that it was hard to get the audience involved although they gave out cardboard clappers of sort. To begin they "just started" and there was no nattional anthem, etc. During the events there wasn't much commentary by the announcers to get everyone enthused. I thought it would be ho hum but came anyway. The part where the players went one on one on a goalie but marks were determined by style, and audience vote. I think they should set up like the NBA "Slam Dunk" contest and not have a goalie!

    Fun Family event!

by Homerwitaj on 2017-01-18Rogers Place - Edmonton

It was a fun event for kids and family! Not too often you can watch NHL players live for $40 for a party of 4. One thing that didn't make sense was that the event was noted as being sold out but they were several empty sections in the arena. Hopefully this wasn't because people were hoarding tickets for themselves.

    2017 Skills Competition

by Lisaloulou on 2017-01-18Rogers Place - Edmonton

It is a fun event and great for the family. My teenage boys really enjoyed it. Let's you experience the more relaxed and fun side of the players. No autograph opportunities which was disappointing. They should consider autograph opportunities and restrict it to 18 and under as from my experience it is usually the adults that make autograph sessions such a gong show.

    Always enjoyable

by Petslave on 2016-01-28Rexall Place - Edmonton

I always enjoy going to the skills competition. One thing I enjoy seeing is how much fun the players are having and who talks to who on the team when they are not competing. This year they added a couple of fun features like having the goalies take shots in the hardest shot competition and having the fastest backwards skater

It was very good and we have gone for three years and always enjoy it. It is good to see the players have some fun at least I hope they do.

    Really enjoyed skill competition

by Peetie on 2016-01-27Rexall Place - Edmonton

Skills competition was lots of fun. Nice to see oilers relaxed and enjoying themselves. Good value for only $10! Enjoyed seeing the kids compete as well. Only disappointment was that the interviews with various players were almost impossible to hear, as the background music blared on over the talking. Plan to go again next year:)

    Great Time

    by bk01 on 2016-01-27Rexall Place - Edmonton

Even being up in the nose bleeds it was fun and entertaining. The only thing wrong was the clarity of the speakers on the ice.

Good fun - could have used a little more effort!

by maffhew on 2016-01-27Rexall Place - Edmonton

Overall it was a good event. The one thing that was a little frustrating was (what I felt) to be a lack of effort from the Oilers players. I get this is a day to relax and give some fun to the fans, but when you have a sold out crowd looking for some fun and potentially highlight-reel stuff, you should pick it up a bit. Especially since you're 8 points out of a playoff spot ;) maybe I'm asking for too much though. Overall, still a good time!
