Edmonton Stingers History

The Edmonton Stingers are two-time champions of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). The Stingers competed in the CEBL’s inaugural 2019 season, finishing in second place before falling in the postseason semifinals. However, redemption was close behind as the Stingers secured their first CEBL Championship in 2020, then repeated the feat in 2021, becoming the league’s first back-to-back title winners. Both runs followed dominant regular season performances, in which the Stingers topped the league and set the CEBL’s all-time highest regular season winning percentage (.929) with a 13-1 record in 2021. The Edmonton Stingers organization has accrued multiple accolades, including 10 All-CEBL selections, three MVPs and two Coach of the Year Awards.

  • Not a great experience

by BB lover on 2024-07-10Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

The game itself was very good BB. It was the constant playing of boom boom music that was not only annoying but took away from the game. I and my friends came to watch basketball not listen to extremely loud music that never stopped. The game itself is exciting enough you do not need this constant noise. This part of my experience was extremely disappointing and will have to consider if I will go again. University Ball is great and they don't play loud bad music all the time.

My son and I really enjoyed this event. It is well organized and very engaging for kids. The food is affordable and the parking is free. I highly recommend the Stingers games when it comes to watching live sports in Edmonton.

The stingers games are amazing. Great music, crowd, vibe… the parking is free and the beer is cheap. Tickets are reasonably priced which makes it the perfect night out for a date, with friends, or even with the whole family. 10/10 would recommend it!

The game was so much fun. The team has a lot of talented players. It was great for my kids to see these athletes play. We coach basketball and all our kids play. We really enjoyed the game. The atmosphere was very family friendly, parking was free, tickets were only $20. A fantastic family night out.

What an affordable and fun family night out! Even in the cheap seats, the view was great, with no obstructions. Food and drinks were decently priced. A great time, will do it again!

  • Impressive event and experience

by Chris on 2024-07-04Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

I was expecting a scoring table with a laptop and a fold out table with a half empty venue and minimal fanfare. I knew the basketball would be high skill and focused on development, but I was surprised and impressed by how legit the experience was. The venue, concessions, and in game entertainment was perfect for the price. The only downside are the seats (small) and the acoustics (couldn’t clearly hear the PA when they were talking to the crowd at center court) but those are limitations of the venue available, not a big deal. Definitely will return this season for a few games and looking at season seats next season

  • exciting family fun

Exciting, fast paced, high calibre pro sport basketball. Affordable. Great for the family. Lots of fun! Great venue!

  • Great family value

by Beaver on 2024-06-26Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I took my god daughter to her first event ever for the home opener. $25 tickets where you can actually watch the game. The value items at the concession beat all the $6 commonwealth or Roger’s hotdogs. Lots of activities for kids to do pre game and a game environment that keeps them engaged. 10/10 value

  • Stingers Game

by Lor on 2024-06-23Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The game itself was a lot of fun and great value for our family of 4. Unfortunately we had an obstructed view which was not mentioned when purchasing our tickets so that was not ideal.

  • Good family fun

Definitely put on a good show. Solid team. Great price for tickets and concessions. Highly recommend.

  • Fun Game

    by Mears16 on 2024-06-07Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed the game, but felt that the music played during play was way too loud taking away from watching/hearing the play on the court. The fans were good, engaged, and overall was a fun game. Only other suggestion I have is to ensure that when offering the promo with Carl's Junior and saying we can get our voucher on the way out, to actually have it at the door for the fans to take. No staff was handing them out nor knew where you would get them.

  • First time game from long time fan of BBall

by Allan on 2024-06-05Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I learned about this team from the WNBA game and my wife and I checked out the home opener. She is new to the sport and I am a long time fan going back to MJ days in the 90s. It was a ton of fun. Friendly atmosphere and lots of good clean fan razzing of opponents, cheering the home team, and it was a pretty fast and frenetic pace. Randomly picked Prikke as the guy to cheer for because he's a hometown guy and he had a very solid game. It was my first time seeing a game with Target score, and I liked it. Games end on a bucket, and for a smaller league drawing in fans I think avoiding some of the late game slow down is a great idea to bring in new fans. Schedule is too busy for season tickets, but we're definitely down for checking out more games this season. Go Stingers!

  • Great Value!

by CJ on 2024-06-03Rating: 5 out of 5

First time to a game and now a huge fan. Amazing atmosphere, great entertainment, and good prices (merch, food and drinks). The talent level is very high and venue is perfect. Purchased a 3-pack of 8 seats right after the game as the entire group enjoyed it and I want to get other friends to come check it out. Go Stingers!

  • Very good entertainment for fans young and old!

    by G'Ma on 2023-07-18Rating: 5 out of 5

Great entertainment for all ages. Loved the energy throughout the evening. Arena staff were very helpful and anticipated our needs. The game was great to watch in person and well played.
