About

Rock group Evanescence, initially formed in 1994 by Amy Lee and Ben Moody, released three EPs before the end of the ‘90s and an album called Origin. By 2002 they were signed to Wind-Up Records and expanded the line-up to include musicians John LeCompt, Will Boyd and Rocky Gray. In 2003 they released their first official album, Fallen, which sold over 15 million copies.

Evanescence released a live album, Anywhere But Home, in 2004. This was followed by Open Door in 2006, which sold one million copies in its first week. The band then waited five years to release their third album, the self-titled Evanescence. The band has toured extensively across the world. Their 2012 world tour took in a number of dates in the UK, South America , North America, Australia, China, Japan and Indonesia.

The band has received five Grammy nominations and has won two awards — for Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance. Other accolades for the band include a Los Premios MTV award, a MTV Australia Video Music Award, a NRJ Music Award, two Teen Choice Awards and a World Music Award. Amy Lee was awarded the National Music Publishers' Association's Songwriter Icon Award in 2008.

The band’s line-up has varied with a number of members leaving at various stages in their history. One of the founding members, Ben Moody, left in the middle of their European tour in 2003. He was replaced by Terry Balsamo. In 2005, Will Boyd also left, with Tim McCord joining in 2006. During their 2007 tour, John LeCompt was fired and Rocky Gray decided to quit. These two members were replaced by Troy Lawham and Will Hunt.

Evanescence's lead singer Amy Lee has worked on a number of other projects. Her version of “Sally's Song†was included on the soundtrack for Disney's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Her collaborations with other artists have included Korn's “Freak on a Leash†single and Seether's Broken, which was featured on the soundtrack for The Punisher. She has also performed on tracks for David Hodges, Big Dismal and The Damning Well.

    Lindsey Stirling and Evanescence---Music Heaven

by FlameDog on 2018-07-28Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Mohegan Sun Arena is a cozy venue for an arena/stadium concert experience. This was made doubly so by the intimate nature of both acts. Lindsey Stirling is a thrilling sensory experience-her dancing while masterfully playing her violin is breathtaking and the dancers add to the performance, rather than distract. And not to add to all the words written about Evanescence but.....you MUST see them live. Amy Lee is a powerful, beautiful voice; it is obvious she loves music---classical, rock ballad, metal anthem. The music of both artists was enhanced, rather than overshadowed, by the full orchestra and Amy simply stood forefront--her incredible talent shone in this incredible venue.

    What a voice

by Guilty1 on 2018-01-01Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Great show, Amy can really crank out those vocals. Amy's vocals are a little too Loud at times and drowns out the orchestra.

Amy Lee's voice is incredible !!

by Beagler68 on 2017-12-16Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I had wanted to see Evanescence for many years now, but finally had the opportunity to see their Synthesis Live performance. To me, Evanescence is really all Amy Lee and her vocal pipes. What an unbelievable voice she has and I am so glad I finally got to see her perform live. It was well worth the wait. I can't wait to see her again! She was able to showcase her amazing voice in this format along with the orchestra. Just a magical performance! Love you Amy !!!

    Evanescence should fire their soundman

by Pant on 2017-12-15Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

What a shame to witness such talent squandered by inept mixing at the sound board, Amy's astounding vocals should be front and centre, but were lost in a tsunami of sound at this concert. Her voice is incredible, the bands musicianship impressive, but all was lost by the actions of an incompetent soundman.

    Evanescence was good but...

by Ichigo on 2017-12-13The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

Love the concert. I can finally seeing them after their 3 year hiatus that they had. Only problem would be that it was short. I would have thought she would play more of her other songs. I try to record some of the concert but the casino ushers told me and my friend that we are not allow to flim the concert while people at the bottom were all filming. I told the ushers to tell the other people to stop filming the concert. Not to mention, they should info everyone before the show ever started. I still enjoy the show regardless with my friend but wish to have more.
