    Dance North needs More Dance

by Bajan on 2019-10-08Ryerson Theatre - Toronto

Entertaining presentation. My 1 observation was that there were pieces that were more performance pieces, than dance performances. Program 3 at Ryerson on Sat Oct 5, i felt was in this category. Alternatively, program 2 at Meridian Sat Oct 5, was a lovely example of dance. My highlight was on Wed night Oct 2 at Meridian, the performance from Sweden with duo that included a wheelchair.

    Program 3

by BR on 2019-10-08Ryerson Theatre - Toronto

Impressed by Program 3 with the innovative, dramatic and unusual choreography pushes what dance may be. Also, remarkable how tickets are only $15 dollars. Apparent that alot of effort is put into realizing this dance festival.

    Well worth $15

by J. G. on 2019-10-08Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

Had a very difficult time ordering online but phone order worked well. Ryerson dance was the best. National ballet second best but the Indian piece that began the show was boring and not worthy of the rest.

    Best Dance Experience Ever

by Yhb on 2019-10-08Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

This is our second and certainly not our last experience. We saw programs 1 and 2, and we're sorry not to have seen program 3. The dancing was superb, the audience eclectically enthusiastic, and the ticket price unbelievable. We are hooked and can't wait for next year's offering.

    For the love of Dance!

by Ursula on 2019-10-08Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

I’ve been going to Fall for Dance every year since they started it. The title really does it justice, as I fall in love with dance (again) every single year! The amount you pay for the talent you see is unbelievable. I will continue to go every year, as it’s always an amazing performance!

    Phenomenal

by G. L. on 2019-10-08Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

Each choreography was amazing in it’s own way. The Ryerson Dancers were so professional and Anne’s choreography was so complex and rich. It all went by too fast!

    Not as good as usual

by Chris on 2019-10-07Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

I enjoy being able to see a variety of dance companies from across the world, however, this year appeared to be geared towards modern dance, almost exclusively. In past years the offerings were spread several dance genres. My preference would be that the programme went back to a more comprehensive format

    Best of the Best

by Anne on 2019-10-07Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

Fall for Dance is a wonderful showcase of leading troupes from around the world. This year's selection did not disappoint - futuristic contemporary from Canada, martial arts inspired from New Zealand, differently-abled lyrical duet from Sweden and a fantastic mash up of all styles from Brazil. Not a dull moment, but very many astonishing and moving ones. Unbelievable bargain at $15!

    Fantastic programming! keep it coming...

by happy audience on 2019-10-07Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

Fall for Dance North is one of those performances that I now look forward to seeing every year. The programming is inclusive and the price is accessible by most. We need more this type of performances that bring the community out to immerse in the arts. Arts help us to balance and be inspired by all that we call "life". It is such an integral component of the human existence and experience. Thank you, FFDN!

One of the best deals in town. Three great shows. A dance lovers delight. Have been coming for five years, each year is as good or better than previous year. Looking forward to next year already. n.

    Dance extravaganza

by pinacolada301 on 2019-10-07Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

An opportunity to see top world class dancing in several genres. The artistry of the dancers is mesmerizing. Three nights of bliss to watch and feel the emotion. I have gone at least 4 years (think I was out of town one year) and have noted for next year to watch for tickets and dates! An event not to be missed and like no other in Toronto.

Theatre was too hot. Dance program was too intense.

    by G. M. on 2019-10-07Ryerson Theatre - Toronto

First number way too long and monotonous. People beside argued about leaving then, man in front flailing in his seat. Rest of the program better. Loved it last year at Meridian Centre. Program more mixed and better venue. Will not go back to Ryerson theatre. Took daughter and granddaughter this year - they’ll never go again. Generally a disappointing evening. People so tense that even in short interval between dances they were clamouring to get into aisle for relief.

    Fall in Love With Dance!

by Mary on 2019-10-07Ryerson Theatre - Toronto

Fall for Dance North was a fantastic evening of Indigenous Dance at Ryerson Theatre on Friday, October 4. Each performance was a unique look at international indigenous dance. The sound and movement worked together to enchant the audience. I loved the final performance of the evening where Taiwanese dancers’ voices emerged from the back of the audience and melded together as they slowly moved towards the stage, lit only by headlamps! A magical night!

Short review of Program 1 and Program

by E. H. on 2019-10-06Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

As usual the programs were excellent, some were eye opening. The outstanding performance in Program 1 was Brazil The outstanding performance in Program 2 was I would have given 5 stars if in Program had closed a more joyful or uplifting dance. The dance was excellent in performance but one didn’t joyful like after Brazil. I didn’t get a chance to go to Ryerson and look forward to it next year. Thanks for creating such a wonderful festival

    Gets better every year!

by S. on 2019-10-06Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

This is our fifth year attending Fall for Dance North at the Meridian Hall and the eclectic mix of dance and talent of the performers is just stunning. It is a wonderful way to expose audiences to a wider range of dance forms and cultural expression than they might have otherwise. Cannot wait until next year. I wish all the performances were at Meridian Hall, as the Ryerson Theatre is not well equipped to handle this event, especially when "extras" are added to the evening, like the aboriginal food tasting last night which was a disaster - access to the only table was completely clogged as people were unable to leave the theatre or get to the concession tents behind the tasting table. Most people just gave up. On the other hand, the "extra" at the Meridian - the pre-performance talk - was beautifully handled and went very smoothly. The Meridian is also easier for out of towners like us to get to.

    Breathtaking

by BR on 2019-10-06Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

The 4 dance performances we magnificent - but Brazil's Grupo Corpo was over the top. Thank you Fall for Dance - an incredible way to enjoy contemporary dance!
