Blown away. Feist is the real deal. Cannot wait for the new album
The idea of hosting a concert 'from behind the main stage' was great, but the songs were just plain weird, people with hand-held cameras creating a presentation by peeking underneath the chairs borderline creepy, and printing and shredding song refrain a bit too out there. I'm all for original ideas, but this is not what I expected from Feist.
This was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to! I loved the intimacy and artistry of this show. I wish every concert had this small capacity!
This was our first indoor concert since the pandemic and it certainly did not disappoint. I had originally thought it would take place in the NAC’ Studio Theatre but no, we were lead into the labyrinthine basement halls and brought into what seemed a huge rehearsal space with a small stage in its centre surrounded in circular fashion by 3 or 4 ranks of seats. Feist was sitting off the stage thumbing through scores - seeming more like a member of her crew making some final adjustments. Once we were all seated (maybe 100 - 150 of us (?) she mounted the stage, sat on a stool and launched into her first song accompanied only by herself on guitar. As the show progressed, however, she shifted her position in relation to the the circle of the audience, brought on two more band members and gradually the show became more electronic and visual with the use of light and image projection - the music though, remained at the core and was thoughtful, introspective, soothing yet challenging. At about an hour in Feist left the stage entirely and walked “behind” us all - raised a curtain - but to continue would be to spoil the end. Let’s just say her finale was amazing and entirely unusual and creative. Lucky Hamburg, Ottawa and Toronto! If you’re in Toronto now, don’t miss this great and unusual performance. Highly recommended.
A wonderful way to reintegrate into the world of shows again. Intimate, thoughtfully conceptualized and brilliantly executed. Moving, immersive and well-worth the ticket.
This show was one of the best I have ever seen. One of the world’s biggest artist in a small setting. The new music was incredible, but that was to be expected from Feist. The pleasant surprise was the multimedia presentation with images/projections/surroundings that were unlike any show I have seen before. Must see stuff!
Giving any details would spoil the experience. Let's just say this concert builds slowly into a moving experience and is well worth it. My only criticism would be that the concert could be a little longer.
I was excited to see a show produced by the person who did David Byrne’s Utopia. I accept that the cost of doing theatre must be very high these days, given Covid restrictions on audience sizes. But while the music was great (albeit a bit hard to make out some of the words sung), the production was barely interesting and definitely not worth $125 per ticket, even allowing for a generous Covid-cost margin.
This is one of the very best shows I've seen in years. Of course, after the long interruption created by the pandemic this was so appreciated. This multi-media show by Feist was at the same time simple and complex, sweet and witty and totally surprising. Made me think of Robert Lepage.
How do we ever come close to experiencing the world through another persons perspective? Art is the one unifier we have, to help us feel a little less alone, a little more connected, a little less afraid of the unknown. Feist's creation is a truthful and intimate portrayal of our time, brush strokes and all. Details in the fabric of the stage, and the organic machine that supports life all around us. A truly hopeful reveal of the light within the darkness.
Feist has an amazing voice and so engaging wth the audience. Her band was a great compliment to her voice.
show started 2 hours late - could barely make out any words
Feist started off with songs from her moody new album and later rocked it with her older music. Venue was great but I was annoyed with how the event time and tickets all said 7 p.m. start or doors open at 7 p.m. with no indication of the start time, which we learned was in fact 8:30 once we arrived (at around 7). Was 8:45 by the time Feist and her band stepped onstage....so it made for a very late Thursday night. The actual start time could have been much communicated better IMHO.
I was a big fan of Feist but not after this concert! I was substantially disappointed in her new music. In addition, my tickets stated that the concert started at 7pm and in fact it commenced at 8:45 pm.
Great concert! Had an unexpected obstructed view though. There should be no top hats allowed in this venue.
An amazing show, excellent talent, energy and music, she was so fantastic!
Feist plays a wonderful show. The fact that the show was only Feist , no wasted time with an opener. Full show of Feist .. I took my girlfriend for her first concert and she really enjoyed it. Having never listen to Feist before.. Feist if you return I will go again.
Leslie Feist is magic. Plain and simple. Apparently that review is too short so it’s not so plain and simple after all. Oh well. Here are some useless words but the point remains: Leslie Feist is magic. Plain and simple.
Amazing and fresh new album. Great to hear it from start to finish
Both Feist and the warm up band were extraordinary. The venue is amazing.
