About

Godsmack were a big part of the late ’90s hard rock revival, and they’ve continued to lead the way for legacy rock acts with three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, 28 Top 10 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, three Grammy nominations and over 20 million albums sold worldwide. The quartet formed in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1995 and played their first shows in Boston bars before recording their 1997 independent album, All Wound Up…, which was later reworked as their quadruple-platinum, major label debut, Godsmack, in 1998. The band’s profile grew as they joined the Ozzfest tour in 1999 and 2000, dropped their sophomore album Awake on Halloween 2000 and earned their first two No. 1 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with the album’s title track and 2002’s “I Stand Alone” from The Scorpion King soundtrack. Ahead of the release of 2003’s Faceless, Godsmack assembled their long-standing core lineup of founding members Sully Erna and Robbie Merrill along with guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Shannon Larkin. The album kicked off a three-album streak of Billboard 200 No. 1 debuts including 2006’s IV and 2010’s The Oracle. The band collected their second career platinum-certified single with “Bulletproof” off 2018’s When Legends Rise, which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2023, the band unveiled their eighth studio album, Lighting Up the Sky.

This was an exceptional show, the talent just flows from this band. Sully is a very talented man, can sing, then play the drums, then jump on the guitar. Friggin amazing show!!!!

I missed most of the opening bands so I cant say much about them. They put on an unreal show and really got the crowd involved. Did a wicked drum duet with the lead singer and played everything you'd want to hear. Was a great show and they perform well live. Just wish they had some explosions or fireworks, but then again it was a small stage setup, would have given them 5 stars otherwise.

From the head banging sound of mike portnoy and adrenaline mob, to the crowd getting straight out of line with godsmack, the concert hall was never without that rock atmosphere that we have all come to know and expect from such icons. And without fail, the drum battle got the crowd roaring with non stop excitement before the whole floor erupted in one giant mosh pit.

    Great show!

by blyss on 2011-08-23Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

Loved it all :) Drove from north of Toronto to Hamilton with 7 others. Opening bands were awesome, got everyone going & ready for Godsmack. Drum battle was kick ass, too!! Rotating stage, what?! Beer a little expensive, but eh! Lots of freebees thrown into the crowd. I myself was just there for Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (one of the opening bands) I don't really listen to Godsmack but amazing!! Not a huge venue/set up so it was nice to be a little more intimate but still ample energy. Overall, a great time.

the show rocked. the sound was fricken amazing. the opening bands did well but i am a huge GODSMACK fan, so i would have to say they kicked ass. the drum dual was unreal. i have seen it a few times now but the change up to AC DC and BLACK SABBATH was great. Little Disappointed

by Skinnii on 2011-08-23Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

It wasn't for a lack of effort on Sully's part. But the show just didn't have a lot of energy. The crowd was not large, the facility was too big for a smaller show. Sully did everything in his power to get people up and into it, but it fell short. Only one T-shirt stand open, which sold out before Godsmack hit the stage, only one beer stand open....had to wait 30 minutes for a cold one.... Been a fan since the beginning and this was the first show....didn't hit expectations.....the drummer did not look like Shannon Larkin....which would explain the five or so songs that were slowed down or had mistakes. Why was the sound guy to the right of the stage??? How do you hear what the crowd hears from almost behind the band????

    Godsmack was amazing!

by nannydino on 2011-07-16Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

Standing in the water and rocking my ass off! Yeah baby, it couldn't be any better, thats how good it was...Sully treated us to a solo guitar / drum and we made some noise! Loving the concert, even the rain couldn't cool the crowd...we were hot :) xxxLove Godsmack Live in Vegas :) been blessed to see them live in SinCity twice now. First time at Crue Fest 2009 at the Hard Rock Hotel ...but the beach concert at Mandalay totally won hands down...Lets do it again next year boys:)xxx

    Quality Live Show great Sound!

by LeafRider on 2011-07-08Brandt - Regina, SK

This is probably the 5th time now for Godsmack mind you twice i didn't make it to the show, not by choice. Regardless Godsmack's music sounds just like their CD with a personal twist to some of it. I don't like these bands that get up there and modify their music on stage to a bunch of sloppy tunes, sign of a bad live band. These guys are quality, too bad they weren't on tour with Alice in Chains, oh well maybe some day. Great sound, great music, can't wait for another round.

    PAIN IN THE GRASS ROCKS!!!!!

by WolfWoman24 on 2010-08-30White River Amphitheatre - Auburn

Awesome concert; I've seen Godsmack in the front row 5 times, Shinedown 3 times and Black Label Society 4 times. I've been going to Pain in the Grass since it started again in 07. I love that they moved it to the WhiteRiver, Cheney stadium with all it's concrete was way too hot. The crowd was handled nicely, just enough pushing and shoving to make it an adrenaline rush but no actual fist fights (Thanks BAMBAM).
