Lauren Elaine Taylor as Rizzo stole the show. By far the best one on stage.

Eddie Mkka was very heart warming.

by BOBAMBI on 2010-11-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This performance took me back to the original performance of Grease when I was in my twenties when John Trovolta was the star. I have seen his performance on numerous times and enjoyed each performance emensly.

    Grease Play

by Anonymous on 2010-11-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I was very disappointed in the play. They changed the story and it wasn't what I went to see. The original play that I saw 3 years ago at the Citadel was the story without changes and it was fantastic!!! The Grease Movie is a classic and should never be changed from the original version. The actors had amazing voices and the songs were great!!

The music and singing were amazing. It was really hard to get past Sandy. She was playing an iconic role and just never measured up. It was the first of the Broadway across Canada shows that I've attended that never received a standing O

    GREASE

by pretzel on 2010-11-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Totally lived up to its title GREASE is the word! Incredible voices, sharp, crisp choreography, colouful stage props that enhanced the roles. Risso nailed the role and had the chops to match. The little dud had the biggest voice and did the falsetto proud, a real throw back to the 50s! Snady had a fantastic range but something fell a bit short, had a hard time picking her out from the chorus during some of the scences. Too bad but otherwide a fantastic perfromance worth while seeing!

Grease is the word ... when you can hear it..

by teenylittlesuperguy on 2010-11-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

We went to see Grease on its penultimate night in Edmonton at the Jubilee Auditorium. The production was great.; the ensemble cast was terrific; the staging was exceptional; and Eddie Mekka was way better than I thought he was going to be .... .... BUT (and there has to be a but, doesn't there?) ... I felt the production lost a couple of stars for two (well, technically three) reasons: (1) The voices of the actors who played Danny and Sandy did not project well in the Jubilee Auditorium space (and that space is comment number 2, which I'll get to in a minute). The voices of the actors playing Rizzo and Kenicki were excellent, and filled the hall very well, but for whatever reason (less full-voiced singing? poor miking? who knows why?), both Danny and Sandy got lost in the mix a little bit, which is rather sad since they are the lynch-pins of the whole production. Their singing in the ensemble numbers was quite good, but as soon as they were required to go off on a solo flight, their voices were both a little thin and reedy. (2) The venue: Much as I love the Jube, it's just not the best place for a Broadway-style production. Even after all the money and work the government put into re-shaping the space, and adjusting its acoustic profile, there are still dead spots where the sound mix is so muddy that a viewer can't pick up the essence of what is being said or sung. One of those dead spots is on the 2nd balcony right in the middle. I'm not sure whether it's the acoustics of the place, or whether it's a problem with the mix in the sound system, but it does create problems for folks like us in the cheap seats. Other than that, it was an enjoyable night out, and I'm glad the Grease revival is still as relevant as it was back in the day.

Grease is the Family's new word!

by Craigster on 2010-11-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

We all thoroughly enjoyed our night out. We took our teenaged daughters, niece and a boyfriend of one of the daughters and they really enjoyed themselves. It was pretty cool watching the four of them hand jive.

Grease was a wonderful musical, lots of comedy and the singing was marvelous. The auditorium was fantastic, felt like I was in a Vegas Theater. Would go again in a minute.

    Grease was overrated

by Sarnis on 2010-11-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Admittedly, we purchased our tickets a few days before and managed to get seats (I had company coming and thought this would be great for them); however, the acoustics on the second balcony were not good. The sounds (mostly from the females in the show) were scratchy and high pitched and it seemed the orchestra was drowning out the cast most of the time. I have been to other performances at the Jubilee and would rate this one at the bottom. When spending $85 on each ticket one would believe that the sound would be on target at least. So, for those of you thinking of attending, perhaps you should think of getting floor seats for better acoustics on this one (if you can)!
