About

Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2007.

Except for a brief period in NYC in the late 1960s, Jackson has always lived in Southern California. His debut album came out on David Geffen's Asylum Records in 1972. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums, four collections of live performances, two "best of" compilations, two DVDs and several single recordings. Jackson's newest studio album, "Downhill From Everywhere" was released in July 2021 and GRAMMY nominated for Best Americana Album.

Browne is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education. He's a co-founder of the groups Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) and Nukefree.org and a member of the Ocean advocacy group, Ocean Elders.

In 2002, he was the fourth recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, given to artists whose works exemplify the environmental and social values that were essential to the great California-born author. He has received Duke University's LEAF award for Lifetime Environmental Achievement in the Fine Arts, and both the Chapin-World Hunger Year and NARM Harry Chapin Humanitarian Awards. In 2004, Jackson was given an honorary Doctorate of Music by Occidental College in Los Angeles, for "a remarkable musical career that has successfully combined an intensely personal artistry with a broader vision of social justice."

Loved that he came onstage right at 8 pm and got right into the show. Beautiful stage lighting. I do wish he had of sang a couple more of his 'hits' ie doctor these eyes and the load out. All in all quite enjoyed the show.

    As good as ever

by JPebbles11 on 2017-04-24The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

Jackson Browne sounded incredible - the family band he showcased during his show was great - The violin (Sara) really added to the performance and Sean Watkins was incredible on the guitar.

    Jackson Browne is pure talent!

by rocker8 on 2017-04-23The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

Jackson browne is like a fine wine, he gets better with age. The show Thursday night was truly entertaining. He seems like such a humble human being. He plays an amazing piano, guitar and his vocals still sound pristine, even after all these years. Considering all the excitement about a death threat to him that day, he seemed to take it all in stride, even joking about it . Great performance, great night!

    Fantastic lyricist and musician

by MiddlenameJackson on 2017-04-23Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

Just came back from an amazing concert ! Jackson Browne at The Burt! Took My Beloved music teacher wife to see one of my favorite singers of all time and he loved it! She kept saying Oh this song, over and over again. Jackson was my soundtrack when I went back to school for my BSW. He sang a lot of hours helping me do papers late at night after working a casual shift. She'd always say Who's this, this is nice when she heard him. Well, now she's seen him live and she's way more impressed than ever. Great venue for his beautiful music. Two phenomenal musicians with him, but i missed their names. Guess he's not the only one getting older! Such beautiful renditions of so many wonderful songs. Intricate harmonies, three very talented musicians weaving their talents together, and an adoring audience in a classic example of a vaudeville hall. We would have stayed all night but when you're 68, you just do one encore. Gotta get more of his music on format for the road trip this summer.

Could have been so much better

by jogogreen on 2017-04-21Centre in the Square - Kitchener

I was really looking forward to this show. A Rock and Roll Hall of Famer in a fairly intimate setting, it should have been great. But it wasn't. Unless you were a hard-core Jackson Browne fan, I think you walked away disappointed from this performance. He stayed clear from all but 2 or 3 of his hits and stuck to deep-cuts and and a few cover songs. As a performer you have to expect that the bulk of your audience is going to be made up of first-timers and they are going to want to hear the songs that made you famous. Why play covers when you have such a rich catalogue of your own? Without hearing the hits, you're just a very well-paid busker.

Jackson Browne at Home in the Hammer

by DRBinator on 2017-04-21FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - Hamilton

Jackson Browne has great fans in the Hamilton area and they came to fill venue. His performance was so engaging, keeping your attention throughout. The additional musicians on violin & guitar were amazingly talented. Jackson speaks to his audience from the heart and this is part of his appeal.

the most disappointing show we have ever been to. songs were terrible, played maybe two of his hit and just destroyed them . it was more like a funeral than a concert . waste of money.do not go to his show.at least one third off crowed left half way. what is he thinking .my wife bought these tickets for my birthday what a let down. no Rosie NO cocaine no doctor my eyes . all songs sounded the same. I'm a musician by trade I'm no JB but this show was like terrible . a bite of advice to JB retire its done.

Great show, Jackson Browne surpassed my expectations. He even took requests from the audience. His backup duo was good. My only complaint is the violin was too loud as was her voice when she was singing backup

by awboy on 2017-04-21FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - Hamilton

was really looking fwd to this concert - it was ok but I would have a hard time recommending it to others - was kind of slow, he spent a lot of time lamenting the recent demise of friends and I for one would have like to have heard at least a couple more of his classics - in particular " Stay " which I think would have made a great encore. Im sure he must get tired of playing those oldies but goldies -but do you know what - that's what the fans are paying for - if you wanna pay me `$80.00 - I'll sit there and hear whatever you want to play -but if I'm paying well......! But bottom line is there were 10 off us - 4 fell asleep and another 4 left early -so that kind of sums it up

Jackson Browne put on an excellent show

by RobC on 2017-04-21FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - Hamilton

This was a great concert...a "solo" acoustic show, although he was accompanied by two excellent musicians providing fantastic backing vocals and violin and guitar...I have seen him numerous times but this one was a highlight. He picked a great set list...I have been a fan since Running on Empty was released..He is a pro and always puts on a good show He used to take the odd request in his shows - He created a monster and too many people are shouting out requests instead of letting him do song intros...

    Good but slow

by Melmac4 on 2017-04-19First Ontario concert hall - Hamilton

Although he was really good, we were disappointed in how many of his hits he did NOT do. Waited in vain for You love the Thunder, Rosie, Stay, Doctor My Eyes....He did The Pretender and a slow version of Running on Empty, and Take it Easy, all near the end of the show. Was in good voice, was funny, told good stories, but overall the show needed a bit of a pick me up, several people were actually snoring near me! Throwing a couple of his faster tempo songs, as well as more of his hits wouldve made it perfect.

Jackson Browne at Seneca Niagara Resort June 24

by DDS27 on 2016-07-13Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino Event Center - Niagara Falls

We saw Jackson Browne in concert - I had always wanted to see him, so we drove from Mississauga Ontario to catch his show. He still sounds fantastic! I really enjoyed the show, and he played lots of great songs. His band was great too. Too bad at casino's he can only play for 90min - the crowd really wanted him to play more, but sadly his contract apparently didn't allow that. We stood at the stage after the show and tried to cheer him back on stage, but it didn't work. That didn't detract from the great show, we really enjoyed it!

He was phenomenal, hasn't lost it a bit. Great ending, great encore but a little disappointed he didn't do "Stay" but that's just one personal opinion. I wished I had seen him when he/I was younger.

    ...snore...

by ConcertNapper on 2015-11-10DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

We grew up on Jackson Browne and were excited to see he was performing close enough for us to make the trip - a 6 hour drive one-way and over an international border - to hear the music that made him famous and that we were familiar with. So we were sooo disappointed to hear only 3 or 4 songs that we recognized, all at the very end of the show. I get that he has a new album out and we appreciated his great voice (that has not diminished one bit) but the audience was full of 50-somethings who perked right up at the "golden oldies" - that should have been a sign! Play to the crowd! Take a note from John Mellencamp who put on an amazing show this summer with an absolutely perfect mix of old and new!
