The new album features guest appearances from Robyn, The Avalanches, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier, Panda Bear and his xx bandmates Oliver Sim and Romy and replicates the emotional crescendos and thrilling volatility of a mystical night out at the club. Jamie has toured widely, both as a member of The xx and a solo artist, his appearances range from small two hundred capacity underground club nights to sold-out arenas and headline slots at major festivals around the world. The so-so: Two hours from doors to headliner was a lot for a Tuesday evening. Venue was FREEZING. Bit of a wait for coat check at the end, though once the line got moving it went quickly. Would have been nice if there was even a little interaction between Jamie xx and the crowd (even a hello Toronto! kind of thing). The positive: History is a great venue if you like to get close to the stage. Set had all the hits you’d expect. Jamie xx was on stage for two hours. Crowd was into it, and considering the dancing/club vibes, didn’t get out of hand for those who weren’t high as kites.
