About

Journey is a multi-platinum-selling rock band from San Francisco, California. Originally formed by former members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band’s current lineup includes guitarist and backing vocalist Neal Schon, lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, keyboardist and guitarist Jonathan Cain, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, bassist Todd Jensen and drummer Deen Castronovo. After releasing a few albums — including their self-titled 1975 debut — throughout the early ‘70s, Journey reached a new height of commercial success on the charts with Infinity (1978), Evolution (1979) and Departure (1980), all of which were certified multi-platinum in the U.S. The band earned their first chart-topping album in 1981 with Escape, which also yielded massive hits like “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Open Arms.” Over the decades, Journey has continued to release studio albums and tour the world as one of the best-selling rock acts in music history, with their most recent album, Freedom, released in 2022.

  • Great Concert by All!

by goggi on 2012-12-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't familiar with Night Ranger's music but was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. Loverboy was who I wanted to hear and Mike Reno and the boys didn't disappoint. Brought me back to my days in nightclubs when we danced all night to Loverboy. They were awesome and the duet with Arnel Pineda was fantastic. I'd read that Arnel had been dealing with laryngitis but he sounded great. Neal's rendition of "Oh Canada" was wonderful. Could have done with a few less instrumental solos and possibly a few more Journey songs that I knew. The crowd loved it. Those that are always comparing Steve Perry to Arnel Pineda should just grow up. Life changes and the members of Journey that wanted to continue with their music did and found a fantastic lead singer in Arnel. Would highly recommend this concert!

  • Journey was awesome!!

by Alishat on 2012-12-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Drinks are too expensive.... Costs of T-shirts and other memorabilia was decent. I was surprised to find out the lead singer quit and it is now a twenty something man.

  • Loverboy Rocks ...journey fails

    by Sticks23 on 2012-12-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Loverboy stole the show while Journey with their pseudo singer were terrible. Only two original members who were excellent musicians and rose above the rest. What happened to the original singer who was the heart of Journey. I was disappointed with the show apart from Loverboy who are all original members and sounded great!! The sound for Journey was a wall of noise...way too loud and distorted.

  • Loverboy rocked!!

by DebbieNDave on 2012-12-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Night Ranger.....eh...could have done without them. Journey was ok.....singer is ok but he's NO Steve Perry. Loverboy was def. The best part of the night! They rocked! It should have been everyone opening for LB!

  • definitely not washed up

by shanker on 2012-12-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

amazing concert. everyone sounded good. was blown away by Mike Rino from loverboy... man can he still crank out those crazy high notes.... amazing! Journey too was more than I hoped it would be. though there were one or two that I hoped to hear, I was extremely impressed by the show and would recommend the show to anyone. So, if they are comin to a city near you, go see it.

All three shows were great!!! I thought that Loverboy was the best! Incredible

  • Trio brings 80's back to life! Awesome show.

by JRNYrocks on 2012-12-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

We arrived just in time to catch Night Ranger sung their 2 biggest hits. They sounded pretty good live... Then loverboy took over and god bless Reno for still giving it like his old self. Everybody's workin for the weekend' was my personal favorite. After reading reviews before attending the concert it seemed like people thought loverboy stole the show ...But on this night I have to say I was thoroughly impressed by Journey. They came out and blasted out the hits one right after the other. People in our section were on their feet most of the night belting out the lyrics with Arnel!! He brought lots of energy and stage presence. Might be a good thing that they have a 'new' frontman... You could tell the difference when a great voice pairs with great music AND the energy of youth. Overall really impressed .. Had an awesome time. Journey ending the set with 'don't stop believing ' and then 'separate ways' ... Classic!!!

  • Night Ranger's Loverboy led them on great Journey

by mackers on 2012-12-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

missed the first couple songs but got to see Sister Christian by Night Ranger who sounded great and had good energy. I was there to see Loverboy first and foremost and they did not disappoint. Mike Reno can still belt it out and the band sounds great. Journey however was the big surprise for me. The Canadian anthem by Schon was a nice touch, but Pineda stole the show. Let's all be honest here, he is BETTER than Perry and proved that Journey is BACK. He rocked the casbah Monday night, sang his heart out and showed me and the 13 people in my crew that he loves what he does. I am a new Journey supporter and look forward to when they come back.

  • Journey not the same

by Muppetlise on 2012-12-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Concert was way too long. Two opening acts took too long. One would have been enough. I only recognized one song of Night Rangers which made the opening act drag on and on. Loverboy was excellent. I thought it was better than the main show. Journey was a bit over the top. The lead singer was all over the stage and that gave me a headache. The dancing was a bit dramatic and over the top. He was exhausted from the dancing and it made the singing pretty bad as he was out of breath and missed notes and lyrics. I have to say the slow songs were decent but he butchered some of the fast songs. They need Steve Perry back!

  • Journey was okay but Loverboy stole the show.

    by Rockergirl69 on 2012-12-04CUC - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

Night Ranger started the show off and they were mediocre at best. I found their music to be disappointing. Loverboy was the second act and they brought down the house. Mike Reno still belts the tunes out like he did in the 80's. It was an incredible show. Journey took the stage and they were good. Their lead singer can sing but I felt the way he did "Faithfully" did not do justice to the song. All in all it was a great concert but Loverboy was by far the star of the show.

  • Continue the JOURNEY!!!!!

    by Lea53 on 2012-12-04Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a full packaged superb concert. With the Loverboy and Night Ranger alone, my heart was already pounding and rocked. When the JOURNEY sets in, there was no more sitting down from everybody. People don't wanna leave the place and was asking for more. It was my first time to see and hear the new lead singer, Mr. Pineda, and for sure it's not only me who was yelling and showing great admiration for him! So all I can say to the band is there so much waiting for them, continue your JOURNEY!

  • Journey was great!

by Someonelse on 2012-12-03Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

Night Ranger was fun, tho' the only song of theirs I knew was Sister Christian; Loverboy could still rock; and Journey was great. The new lead singer has a monster voice, richer than the original lead, and his youth keeps the band from looking too old. They were great. Our seats in Sec. 4 sucked, tho' - for some reason, the sound was awful, very hard to hear the vocals.

  • Journey sounded terrible

by jrbanana on 2012-12-03Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 1 out of 5

While the 2 opening acts, Loverboy and Pat Benetar were great, whoever did the sound for Journey needed to be fired really, before the show ended. The microphone was so loud, you couldn't understand the lyrics, the band was so loud, you couldn't hear the singing anyway and the music itself was distorted because of the volume. It was actually diffifcult to identify songs at first, because they sounded so terrible. My friend and I have been going to concerts for over 30 years and neither of us had ever walked out of one until this one. The funny thing was that, as we were leaving, many others were as well so, it wasn't just us. It was a shame, because we were really looking forward to seeing Journey.

  • Journey, Lover Boy, Night Ranger

    by dolan64 on 2012-12-01Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

Nigt Ranger rocked from the opening riff!! These guys have noy missed a beat in 30 years. would love to see them in a small venue or bar. High energy to open the show mkes the rest follow in their foot steps. Lover Boy still has it going on! Mike Reno can still take you back to the 80's. Journey was as tight as you ould expect them to be! Close your eyes and Steve Perry is not missed at all. The music will keep you singing along all night. The guitar work will make you want to learn to play. The energy from these guys shows that they love what they do!

  • What A Waste of Money...

by opcih on 2012-11-30Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 1 out of 5

It's a good thing Loverboy can still pump out their music and did it extremely well. Night Ranger was ok but thy were experiencing sound problems. Journey was terrible. The sound was very irritating to listen to. I have been to many, many concerts and journey is the first band ever that I got up and left because I couldn't take anymore of the grating music. Too bad cause I really wanted to have a good experience. I can't believe how bad they were.

  • better than expected!

    by coolcat38 on 2012-11-30Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

Biggest standout was Journey's guitar player. He blew the audience away with an amazing instrumental of the canadian anthem! Was so awesome!

  • Pat Benetar, Loverboy and a cover band of Journey

by aintlifeamazing on 2012-11-30Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

Mike Reno and company really showed their stuff during their intro to the show. Reminded me of the first time I saw them in 1982, except for the grey hair. The group played a tight concert. Same goes for the ever young voice of Pat Benetar and her hubby, the guitarist who put on a great show. However great it was, though, to see the original members of Journey with Neal Schon and Ross Valory, I got a sense halfway thru the concert that I was watching American Idol or a cover band. The lead singer, no matter how good a voice, has to learn how to present professionally on the stage. Att he end of almost every song, he had his hand in the air like 'Hey look at me', instead of acknowledging the veterans around him. No question I can see his youth has invigorated the group but it got a little tired after while! My humble thoughts anyway . . .

  • by MSKLB on 2012-11-30Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

Great concert! The only Night Ranger song I was familiar with was Sister Christian but that was amazing! Loverboy always puts on a good show and I can sing along to most of their hits. Journey had some songs I didn't know - maybe new material? - but the songs I knew, they blew out of the water. A wonderful show with awesome music!

  • new lead singer is phenomenal

Arnel Pineda--WOW-WOW! What a great voice and entertainer!

  • by SinceAliveI on 2012-11-30Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

hard to beleive the voice can be replicated. That Journey sound from the 70's and 80"s brought back so many memories. All musicians were amazing. Valory and Schon were front and center pounding out the sounds of my youth. Well worth the travel to get to the show.
