Journey is a multi-platinum-selling rock band from San Francisco, California. Originally formed by former members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band’s current lineup includes guitarist and backing vocalist Neal Schon, lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, keyboardist and guitarist Jonathan Cain, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, bassist Todd Jensen and drummer Deen Castronovo. After releasing a few albums — including their self-titled 1975 debut — throughout the early ‘70s, Journey reached a new height of commercial success on the charts with Infinity (1978), Evolution (1979) and Departure (1980), all of which were certified multi-platinum in the U.S. The band earned their first chart-topping album in 1981 with Escape, which also yielded massive hits like “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Open Arms.” Over the decades, Journey has continued to release studio albums and tour the world as one of the best-selling rock acts in music history, with their most recent album, Freedom, released in 2022.

While the act was superb, the sound quality at Sotiabank Saddledome (Calgary) was a let down
Having TOTO to start off the show is already an amazing bonus. I already tired myself up singing along with their songs. Then when JOURNEY came in, another extra charge of energy !!! WE ARE SO HAPPY AND CANT GET OVER THE WONDERFUL SHOW.
It was a full house!! The most amazing night with all the best songs performed exceptionally. Would definitely go see them again
I was pleasantly surprised @ the talent & how much I enjoyed the hour Toto played. But Journey! OMG! I sang, I danced, I yelled, I whistled, I welled up w/joyful emotional tears. Journey was FABULOUS! I loved every second of the 2hours they played! I’d see them again in a blink if they came back to Calgary! Loved, loved, loved this show!
Both bands were fantastic. So glad I got to see them. Well worth the trip from Medicine Hat to Calgary.
We were in the first row of the 2nd tier. The excitement and energy was contagious but the sound wasn’t the best quality. We sometimes had trouble hearing the words he was singing. It was like he had to yell to be heard above the musicians. He does have an amazing voice and tons of energy. Over all, we enjoyed the concert.
We went to see Toto and fell in love with Journey. What a show!! the lead singer couldn't have been more fun and engaging. The musicians were all top notch and they seemed to honestly be having fun and I had the time of my life. It was a concert I'll never forget.
Journey is always an amazing band to see live. Arnel was amazing and so interactive with the crowd. Toto also were great.
The concerts in the saddledome are too loud and the acoustics suck. The singer sounded like he was yelling most of the time.
One of the top 10 concerts I’ve seen. Seen Journey 4 times, this was the best. The Jumbotron was incredible. Never seen Toto, they were awesome as well. Great vocals and very tight.
Sound, lights, all great..im 65 and actually tested up during "open arms" Memories came flooding in and they sound like they always did.. like the recordings..go see them..worth the cash
Loved both bands. Old school music. Good Disability seats. Would suggest it to friends. Would go again
Entertaining and amazing evening. Ate buffet at Telus club which was nice to spend time with friends….then the concerts were outstanding.
We flew from Halifax to Calgary six hours to see Journey and Toto it was an absolute amazing concert. My wife and I enjoyed it immensely, the best thing I ever did was join Ticketmaster to be able to get tickets for Concerts select fantastic seats.
Sorry, but Pineda does not hold a candle to the warm textured vocals that were the signature sound provided by Steve Perry. I could hear all the notes of Pinedas vocal lines which in the first half dozen songs were sometimes flat, but, his stage presence and vocal performance just felt forced. The band played well, but their performance was pale in comparison to the tight, clean sound of opening act Toto. We were in great seats that should have provided great sound and this was so listening to Toto, however, when Journey played, the sound was simply a mess. I realize that Journey has a bigger sound and usually contains more reverb and delay effects, particularly on the vocals but, on this night it seems like it was just effects, so much so that there remained no clarity in the sound. It was just a wall of noise. My wife and I were very disappointed and left half way through their performance as did friends of ours, despite the price of the tickets. I’m sorry Journey, I am a big fan but I was very saddened to experience this second rate attempt. The performance left me in such a state of disappointment, I went home and put on a live recording of Journey with Steve Perry so I could erase the memory of what we experienced. One of the best moments was when drummer, Deen Castronovo sang and for a few moments Journey was represented by a vocal that was much closer to the heart felt passion and warmth that was Perry’s. Journey needs to do better.
So much fun. Toto started the evening off with a bang and it just got better from there. Arnel what a powerhouse and so much energy! Thanks for a great evening.
Amazing talent, great energy, I bought shitty tickets beside the stage however so the experience wasn’t very good. Spend the extra money and don’t sit beside the stage.
We were not sure what to expect with older groups like Journey and Toto, but they rocked it! Amazing evening full of energy and great classics. We to see them again in a heartbeat.
Loved every bit of it! Great music, great energy from both bands. Unfortunately, the sound at the saddledome isn't great but that will change when we get a new venue.
Journey and Toto did an awesome concert!!! The best!!!!
