Great southern rock at a great forum! Always a pleasure at Rama

  • Skynyrd is a must see

by TOskynyrdfan on 2010-07-27Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 4 out of 5

Skynyrd is a band that has to be seen. A three guitar attack is something rare these days. The music is energetic and the band brings it all. Tight, loud and proud. One of the hardest working groups there is. The players may change but the music stays the same. Just Awesome!!!

  • Wrapped in the Flag

by Zest on 2010-07-27Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 4 out of 5

Skynard comes out with high energy and forces the crowd to react, though there were some guys right behind me who never moved through the whole concert. I just don't get it. Covered most of their well known commercial stuff including Double Trouble, What's Your Name, That Smell, Call Me the Breeze, etc. Ended normal set with Sweet Home Alabama, and then did a 12 minute version of Free Bird as an encore. On stage about 1:25. Great musicians who have been together for a long time. My only problem is they make too much of wrapping themselves in the American flag, strutting around stage with one tied to the mike, pounding the chest, pointing up. I'm not anti-American but a little toning down here would be preferred.

  • Skynyrd the Music Makers

by BiggerSkynyrdFan on 2010-07-25Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

Going to this concert made me feel like I was twenty again and I'm 53! This was my first time seeing them but I feel especially attached to them since I play guitar and sing and over the last year or so, I have been learning and playing their great music. I focus on the guitarists for obivous reasons and they were all so awesome and professional it was incredible. It must be a lot of work to go on tour like that and put so much energy into the shows. I'm glad I went and I felt that the ticket prices were quite the bargain for who we went to see. Cheers, Paul

  • F'n Rocked the house!

by Tasher on 2010-07-25Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

Rickey Medlocke was crazy!!! He puts most 20 year old guitarists to shame with his guitar playing and moves! Hope I can move around half as good as him when I am his age.

  • Disappointing...

by BroomHilda on 2010-07-25Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 3 out of 5

Although the band was tight and they absolutely rocked the house I left feeling like Lynyrd Skynyrd didn't give it their best tonight. This sounds harsh but it's true. They said they were happy to "be here in Barrie"...but it was Orillia? The feedback was present in half of their songs. No drum solo?? They did not book a feature band to open their show. They played for an hour and ten minutes and then gave a one song encore?? An hour?? Come on guys!! I've been listening to you for 30+ years...an hour...one song encore?? I felt like your heart wasn't in it. You didn't forget to plug the casino by reminding everyone to try a little gambling and then you were gone. I still love your music and all of the memories that go with it but honestly...What's your name!! Sadly for me, a forgettable experience.

Just found the concert could of been a bit longer. When we first started attending concerts at Rama, they were quite a bit longer than the last few we have went too. But we did enjoy the show.

  • Skynryrd worth seeing

by portperryguy on 2010-07-24Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 4 out of 5

brought my 19 year old daughter and see had a wail of a time rock'n' to the tunes that her dad grew up on. the group respects the past and pushes on creating new fans and new music. hard working and loud as the original line up. Free bird is a Phoenix that rose again from the ashes

  • Great Show!

by dpil on 2010-07-23Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

They put on a great show. The sound was fantastic. The guitar was aggressive. The lineup of songs was outstanding. I knew they were going to finish off with 'Free Bird'. I often listened to ‘Free Bird’, but to be there with the band and absorb the intensity, the buildup of anticipation towards the end was a musical milestone for me. 'Free Bird' is one of the greatest rocknroll songs ever and it was very exciting to be with them. Johnny Van Zant saluted the soldiers with ‘Simple Man’. I want to salute them on a job well done especially Rickey Medlocke and Gary Rossington. They are superior showmen.

  • Show Was Great

First time for my wife and I to see a show at Casino Rama and first time to see lynyrd skynyrd. The show was great. The best songs of the night were Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama and Free Bird.

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd was excellent!!

by Setoray on 2010-07-23Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 4 out of 5

Excellent song list. All favorites from the past. The musicians played liked they enjoyed being there with the exception of Gary Rossington who seemed unemotional... like all his other performances. Come on dude, show some emotion! Rickey Medlocke was very animated as usual and fun to watch. So unfortunate that Billy Powell passed away last year. Would have loved to see him play with his usual passion. The drummer was also very enjoyable to watch.

Van Zant gets the place rockin. The old tunes are always the favourites. Sweet Home Alabama & Freebird had the crowd on their feet for both songs. Long Live Skynyrd

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd Hardest working band

    by Venture2004 on 2010-07-23Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 4 out of 5

This is one hard working American band. Full out from start to finish. After all the trials and tribulations and changes this band still has what it takes to stay on top. Amazing and glad I made the effort to see them.

  • Lynard Skynard is in the house!!!

    by cindersis99 on 2010-07-23Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

All I can say is this was one of the best concerts I have ever been too at casino rama. The guys were amazing and very interactive with the audience. The music kept us on our feet to the point where ushers had to go up and down the isles getting people to get back to their seats. It was standing room only and in those area's people were up dancing. People of all ages attended this concert The band made sure that Canadian fans knew that they were appreciated. Band made reference to our troops and praised them for their service. The guitar playing was something you just don't see in the new bands now a days. Lynard Skynard RULES when it comes to instramental. All in all the fans had a great time, the band seemed to have a great time...Everybody had a great time. I beleive only one elderly couple got up and left before the encore. And yes they did come back to play another song. I would go and see them again if I had the chance.
