An incredible evening of emotionally and spiritually uplifting music. Michael W Smith and Jason Crabb are one dynamic Christian duo. You could feel the good Lord was at work in the Cross Centre that evening...just truly inspiring! Thanks guys!

too long, too little, too late

by drovealongway on 2009-10-04Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Really disappointed at waiting 2 hours and 37 minutes for Michael W. Smith - and then 47 minutes of him. Waaaaaaaaay too much talking, waaaay too much of the opening acts. Would not have attended if I had known what the schedule was going to be. Overpriced for what the event turned out to be. I drove 8 hours for this concert and was disappointed. We love Michael W. Smith and have been to many other concerts for Christian artists before. I obviously didn't realize the focus was on the radio station birthday party as opposed to on the artists that were singing. Don't get me wrong, it's great that the station has been around for 60 years and great what Billy Graham contributed to the founding of the station. But that could have been adequately addressed in a fraction of the time. Three and a half hours is just MUCH too long to expect to hold an audience's attention. And it's really unfair to an artist of Michael's caliber to have an audience wait 2 1/2 hours before he gets on stage.

Michael was mesmerizing in many ways!

by Zazzu on 2009-09-09HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

After following Michael's music for 30 years, it was every bit as riveting as I thought it would be. I am glad he came in concert to so close to where I live. The facility was not great but Micheal definitely made it worth it! And his drummer rocks!

    Michael W. Smith was awesome!

by Chriscoolcat on 2009-09-05DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The concert began with Robin Sullivan our local Praise Company DJ. She introduced Phil Stacey. His music was deep and soulful. His words were gentle and meaningful. Next Shannon Calwell our other local DJ introduced Natalie Grant. Her vocals were moving and her explanation of Your the God of this city was touching. I don't believe I will ever forget her words of how the songwriter and his band were playing in a bar in Thailand because it is the only place that would let them play and they saw young girls lined up along the stairs that were for sale. It grieved them of course - but then they realized that God was bigger than the situation and He could heal and deliver. W. Smith began with all the stops pulled out - belting out tunes from A New Hallelujah. The crowd was on their feet clapping and dancing. Then he lead us in a series of worship songs so that the dynamic of all those Christians there - who didn't know each other but who wanted to praise God together - overtook the meeting. It became a worship experience. Michael told how one day God revealed Grace to him - God loved him and more than loved him, liked him and loved him far greater than he had ever imagined. That is grace. He played one of His instrumental songs called "The Giving" which touched everyone with its tender and beautiful melody. This gave us some further insight to his creativity and talent. He did a medly of famous hits through the last 25 years or so and many people in the crowd knew the words and we sang along. There were no dull moments. His particular sharing on God's revealing of grace to him and the song of the same title were perhaps my favourite moments. The crowd did not want him to stop. He received such a jubilant ovation that he came back and did one last number. The experience was much more than entertainment. - it was a type of communion.

    An amazing concert

    by Olga01 on 2009-08-17HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

What an amazing concert. It brought back so many memories of when I was a teenager and a new Christian. Their songs got me through some very tough times in my life. With the weathere problems, the 2+ yrs delay, it was worth every it to see two of Christan musics most amazing entertainers. We cried, we laughed, we sang along and we praised the Lord. were two or more come in His name, God was DEFINETLY there.

SCC live was a dream come true!!!!!!!

by Heidibee on 2009-08-04HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

I have dreamed of seeing Steven Curtis Chapman live for 16 years...I loved it:)!!! For me, I wished it was only his concert so it could go longer...but it was fun to see MWS too. Although a huge rainstorm & some disorganization on the part of the venue made it a little chaotic at times & a late start...I was happy to wait! Thanks for coming to Canada SCC!!!

    Smitty and Steven Curtis Chapman

by Sammo on 2009-08-03HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

The concert was great. It was a little disappointing that smitty did not do an encore. they were on the bus and pulling out within 5 minutes of finishing the last number. after paying $97 for the ticket, i would have expected more. It may have been due to the late hour as the concert was delyaed 1 1/2 hours due to a strong thunderstorm rolling through around 4pm (an hour before gate opening). The venue was a little in shambles from the wind and it made for a disorganized venue. but having said that , the promoter and her team did their very best to get things set-up and running. They could have easily cancelled the concert but pushed ahead and they should be comended for that as overall it was a good time..

Michael W. Smith and Steve Curtis Chapman

    by 2701 on 2009-07-28HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

The music was great - uplifting and moving. There had been a pretty good storm in the afternoon, so the venue was not in great shape. Started 2 hours late, and our reserved, expensive seating was no where to be found. Music and the evening 5 out of 5 - venue/organiziation 0/ worshipping God under a star filled sky=priceless

Good Concert, venue and staff - awful!!!

by DrWoo on 2009-07-27HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

The concert, after it was delayed by almost 2 hours, was great - although it was a little shortened due to weather, and they didn't do some of the things we expected from what happened at other concert dates, their performances were still great). However, I will never go to another concert at that venue (it was badly organized, parking was terrible, staff were disrespectful, downright offensive, seating was the worst ever - our seats did NOT exist - we were told to sit wherever and if those ticket holders showed up, we were told to tell them to find another seat)

    Challenging times

by cloverdalerob on 2009-07-27HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

Both Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith are two of the most talented comtemporary christian artists. The organizer's did their best but regrettably the weather created havoc and almost forced the cancellation of the event. It delayed it by almost 3 hours and shortened the performances of both artists considerably. It is very obvious that understandably Steven is still dealing with the loss of his youngest child, and as my girlfriend pointed out to me, these concerts probably are a way of the healing process taking place for him Although I wasn't as entertained as I thought I would be by Steven, since their are so many of his songs that have helped me deal with life's challenges and so many favourites I would have loved to hear his fantastic voice sing live. He has given me and his fans so much for the past 20 years, I welcomed the opportunity for him share his very intimate expereince of greivling his daughter's loss and being challenged in his walk of faith. In the end much like his music, God does truly reign, and he will see his beatiful daughter again. I don't think it is a coincidence that his two talented sons are with him to perform and to share their experience. I will always admire Steven for his courage to find his faith again and I will never be the same by the words he shared in Kelowna. The second part of the challenge was that Michael W. Smith has to start so late, and for the sheer sake of staying wam he kept most of his song's uptempo. He is a great artist and I love the way he changes his music and challenges his fans to change with him. He is a great performer and was a true pro dealing with the cold and the wind that had kicked up on the mountaintop.

Artists were outstanding... despite the conditions

by SACHIC on 2009-07-27HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

I really enjoyed the artists, but was rather disappointed with the venue! Had I known the setup, I would have settled for the cheapest seats , as their seating arrangement was no worse than the best! I expected to see a far more professional approach from the organisers. There was much confusion over the finding of seats, and there appeared to be no one around to assist. But putting that aside... I really enjoyed the show... and felt for Steven Curtis Chapman as I thought that with the prolonged periods of waiting, the mood was dampened somewhat when he came on stage.... but he was awesome... and I loved the way he shared his personal testimony... that really touched us! Micheal W Smith... is a dynamic performer, and the crowd rose to the occasion. I will definately go to another of these concerts....

    Late start unfortunate

by Heave on 2009-07-27HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

The producers of the show had quite the challenge with the freak thunder/lightning rainstorm which resulted in the show starting 90 minutes late. The struggle with seating and setting up the sound equipment seemed endless. While they tried with greateffort to make the show work, I was not convinced that they actually needed to start as late as they did. The artists were great, michael w. Smith was awesome, lots of energy. Steven Curtis Chapman's performance was slower and he talked lots. Great stories though.

It was so great to see Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith in Concert! The concert was outdoors and a huge storm came through in the afternoon before the concert and we were quite concerned that it might be cancelled ....but they waited for the storm to pass and then set up and even though they got a late start the concert was wonderful and we did not feel short changed in the least!!

    GBBV Great band band Venue

by RockyRyan on 2009-07-26HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

First of all let me say that you will never be disappointed with a Michael W Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman concert period. I went assuming that they would be too much of the same thing but they both contrasted each other perfectly. Steven had heart warming stories and songs to back them up. Michael blew us away with a powerhouse of energetic music and a lively stage presence. BUT and there is a definite but, the venue left A LOT to be desired. In all fairness the weather did not co operate for most of the day until the concert. First of all we bought tickets for SEATS yes actual seats L 25. When we got there the seating only went up to L22 are bums were 3 rows short of sitting. Apparently the rows behind us were told to bring chairs (that would have been a good tip for us and we wouldn't have minded), But rest easy we were able to grab a wooden bench from the side of the stage and pull it back to vacant part of the field that would have had our seats in it. Then there was the fact that 3 different members of our group checked to see when the gates opened . . . 5. Well the gates didn't open until 6 and the show started at 9, this was a fare bit of wait time. The last thing I'd say was that getting out of the parking lot was like trying to squeeze a watermelon out of the whole the size of a golf ball.

Michael W Smith loves my God too!

by Caitlynne on 2009-07-26HEARTLAND - KELOWNA

Technical difficulties caused by the thunderstorm early in the day postponed the concert and started at about 8:45 pm. After Steven Curtis Chapman's performance, Michael sang for a little over an hour which was not enough. I was expecting Michael to play much longer. This was my first Christian concert and I really enjoyed his performance but unfortunately went away feeling like I should have got more for the money spent. I could feel and see Michael loves the Lord - he sang like he meant it.
