MJ Lenderman is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Asheville, North Carolina. Blending indie rock and alt-country sounds with plainspoken lyrics and deep sports references, Lenderman has developed his own style across five solo albums starting with his 2019 self-titled debut. After collaborating with Karly Hartzman on Wednesday’s 2018 EP How Do You Let Love Into the Heart That Isn't Split Wide Open, Lenderman joined the band full-time in 2020. He later appeared on Wednesday projects like 2021’s Twin Plagues and 2023’s Rat Saw God. In his solo career, Lenderman gained prominence with 2021’s Ghost of Your Guitar Solo and 2022’s Boat Songs, then followed his 2023 signing to ANTI- Records with the live album And the Wind (Live and Loose!). In 2024, Lenderman unveiled his fifth album Manning Fireworks, led by the singles “She’s Leaving You” and “Wristwatch.” As a musician, Lenderman has backed artists such as Indigo De Souza and Waxahatchee; for the latter, he contributed guitar across the Grammy-nominated 2024 album Tigers Blood and vocals on its lead single “Right Back to It,” which became his first Billboard-charting single.
