Stone Temple Pilots in Concert
With over 70 million albums sold, Stone Temple Pilots roared on to the scene in 1992 with their raucous debut, Core. A breakout success, the album peaked #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, and dominated radio waves with hits like "Sex Type Thing," "Wicked Garden," and the Grammy-Award winning smash single, "Plush." STP quickly distinguished themselves as a band beholden to no trend. Boasting the inimitable riffs of guitarist Dean DeLeo, the propulsive rhythm section of bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz, and the charismatic baritone of frontman Scott Weiland, STP ruled airways, video playlists and charts alike over their legendary career. The band released their seventh studio album, Stone Temple Pilots (2018), their first with new lead singer, Jeff Gutt. The debut single "Meadow" from the self-titled album, channels the gritty guitars and swaggering rhythms that STP is known for, and reached top 5 at rock radio. All Music Guide states, "They haven't lost their knack for hook-heavy hard rock that wedges its way into the subconscious."

Neat to be a smaller venue where you are closer to performers. Most concerts have chairs, this one was open floor space. Cons I didn't know there was smoking allowed still in the casino, so I was hit with an overwhelming stench of cigarettes. Smoking is not allowed at the event centre but it's the same building. There really was no security at the venue, which is nice but a mosh pit got started with a bunch of drunken fools right next to us. It would have been nice to see security ensure it wouldn't get out of hand so all concert goers have an enjoyable time. Instead we had to move to ensure we didn't get pushed.
What a show…being my Favorite Band, they opened with my favorite, Wicked Garden, followed by Vasoline…. Played all their hits and went sentimental with “Still Remains” as a reminder of SW and for the hardcore STP fans!!! First time I saw STP was Plaza of Nations in Vancouver ‘94 and 6 more times through the years! Robert is a professional showman, and is top 2 if not #1 bassist in the multiverse, along with brother Dean whose crisp and clean chords pierced the night! Eric is ALWAYS on beat and point, together creating an EPIC show, everytime I get the pleasure and opportunity to see them! Jeff Gutt could never replace SW but his voice and stage presence was top notch!! As a lifelong fan, much appreciation to the shoutouts and memory of SW!!💔❤️🩹 Sofa king glad I went to see the Stone Temple Pilots rock the Grey Eagle… please come back sooner than later!!!🤘🏼
This was my third time seeing STP, and they've been great every time. The first two times were with Scott on lead vocals, and obviously his absence creates a hole, but Jeff Gutt does an excellent job representing the choices that Scott made. The rest of the band is, of course, great. They've been playing shows for 30+ years and it's obvious in the presentation they put together. They do have a tendency to play "just the hits", so if you're looking for a live show that has deeper tracks, you may be disappointed.
The band was awesome. Sound was great in the grey eagle. They played all the good stuff. Loved it.
Best concert in a long time. A fantastic pairing of STP and The Blue Stones, each band brought it.
Awesome concert! Great set and super fun show! Danced all night. So many good songs I forgot about!
The sound quality was good. Singer was covering songs well, and banged sounded good. Only three stars because the song catalogue was a head scratcher. I don't need them to play my favourites, but as a band with a lot of hit songs, instead of going through the hits or even a varied catalogue, they repeated certain songs. Really got the sense that they were just going through the motions and didn't really want to be there. Not a bad concert...just average.
Show was great.... They sound awesome, the set list including the entirety of purple in order was awesome. Had a great time.
All three acts were incredibly solid. Soul Asylum blazed through their big hits and bowed out to LIVE, where Ed was in full control and effortlessly soared through their mega-hits, with a few oldies and even a new song. Then STP came out. The DeLeo brothers are in top form. Once everyone got over the fact that Jeff is *not* Scott Weiland, and is not trying to mimic Scott Weiland, they understood that he is a great vocalist in his own right and has tremendous stage presence and swagger. He fits the role perfectly. STP absolutely crushed it., playing Purple in its entirety plus some other essentials. Rock 'n roll magic.
