NEW ORDER IN CONCERT:

As one of the most influential new wave bands of the '80s, New Order  brought electronic dance music to the forefront of mainstream consciousness, setting the tone for generations of music to come. EDM progenitors like "Blue Monday" and "Bizarre Love Triangle" sound as fresh today as they did 30 years ago, making the band a continued presence atop festival bills around the globe. Bernard Sumner and co. sounded as sharp as ever on tour in 2013, treating fans to an emotional Joy Division tribute during their encores and setting expectations sky high for their 2014 appearances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in the wake of legendary post-punk band Joy Division, New Order pressed on after  late-frontman Ian Curtis' suicide with a decidedly more optimistic sound than the group's Curtis-fronted incarnation. With former guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Sumner assuming vocal duties under the new moniker, New Order made their album debut in 1981 with Movement, breaking from the gravity of their previous work with buoyant tracks like "Dreams Never End." 1983 follow-up Power, Corruption & Lies really broke the mold, exploring a fusion of rock and early techno that brought them international fame and influenced much of the decade's ensuing music. Over nine studio albums, New Order have built one of the most beloved legacies in popular music, continuing to thrill awestruck fans both in the studio and on the road.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Bernard and company came with a lot of energy. Played lots of New Order faves and dug deep for some Joy Division chestnuts."

"Perfect show. They played all the hits and closed with a flawless three song Joy Division encore. They sounded great"

"New Order still has it!!! Saw them back in the 80's & this show was just as awesome!"

    Great overall but avoid VIP

by FoxTer 71 on 2022-09-21Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Great to see New Order and Pet Shop Boys. New Order are great musicians… we up front so a bit of sound distortion. Would go again for sure though. The main downside was the « VIP experience. » Lined up for 45 min to pickup passes… then line up for our two drinks but they ran out of many things like vodka. The appetizers were already mainly eaten before half the guests arrived and they didn’t refresh them… looking at the quality likely a hidden blessing.

    New Order /Pet Shop Boys

    by T on 2022-09-21Budweiser Stage - Toronto

PSB. Great, no complaints. Put on a great show. Great visuals. Love New Order. However too much dry ice on stage especially at beginning. Hard to see, which shouldn’t be an issue when seated in the 200”s. This is one of my favourite venues for events. However, whomever was running the camera on New Order for the screens did a terrible job. Not familiar with the band or songs. Would put up On the screen when a band member was not playing a instrument. Back of drums. Etc

    Disappointed

by Taco on 2022-09-21Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Must admit New Order did not sound great! Saw them before COVID and they were amazing! This time it sounded like there was something wrong with the equipment and he just didn’t sing the songs the way he used to! Also so many songs I didn’t recognize. Sorry!

The check-in process was well organized and easy. There were people to guude us and answer questions. The food and drinks area was great, including the view! The actual concert venue was great. I feel like I got excellent value for my what I paid. I will definitely do it again!

Lawn isn't the nice experience it used to be.

by Mumzie on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Had lawn tickets, won't do that again. We were greeted by oodles of goose poop and then by hoards of fans squeezed all around us. After so many months of social distancing having people packed tight against me for hours was very overwhelming.

Music was good, venue entry not so good

    by T. V. on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Budweiser Stage is a good venue once you get in, but waiting 45 minutes just to get past the entry point is ridiculous. New Order had some initial sound issues that were resolved 3 or 4 songs in. Heard all the hits, it was good. Pet Shop Boys however were awesome... a great set! Neil's voice has not changed at all.

I have seen New Order a couple of times before and loved it but this time was very disappointing. A number of things were very off sadly.

Outstanding Kickoff to the Unity Tour

by eman on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

What a terrific evening! After a 2 year delay on this tour, the opening leg at The Budweiser Stage certainly did not disappoint! The Pet Shop Boys started it off with Neil Tennant sounding as if he was still in the 80's! His voice was impeccable and the songs timeless. They got the crowd pumped up and performed all the hits. Chris Lowe was fantastic on the keyboard as usual and they played a high energy set. That got things going for New Order who also played almost all their hits and sounded terrific as well. Great tribute to departed Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis as the encore was their "Love Will Tear Us Apart. A very classy end to a wonderful evening and 2 bands still with alot to offer in entertaining a large crowd. So glad to have been there!

    Wonderful show!

    by general682002 on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

My 2nd time to see PSB was great! The performance from PSB was phenomenal! You can't play everything including "Go West", I'm not disappointed at all! And New Order was also great! They played very well! And lastly during before and middle was Paul Oakenfold, did a nice job making music!

NO & PSB knock it put of the park!

by JP on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Both bands were phenomenal- the sound, the visuals, the level of crowd engagement. Anyone who says NO was flat needs to remember that their approach to live music has always been “punk rock” whereas PSB is all about props, costume changes, etc. Again both were phenomenal. I’m contemplating catching them in Vancouver at the end of the tour!

    Epic Show

by Heather on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

This hands down was the best concert I have been to in the last 10 years. Both the Pet Shop Boys & New Order had awesome set lists. Only thing I would’ve liked is to have New Order on a little longer to play a few more songs.

Petshop Boys awesome…New Order not so much

by Trigger on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Petshop Boys were simply awesome. Sounds the same as they did back in the 80’s. New Order needed a better sound. Their percussion was way too overpowering and drowned out everything they are known for…Synth, guitars and vocals!!! Turn down the drums!!!!

Budweiser Stage - Terrible Venue for a Concernt

by Cynalan on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

We were really looking forward to seeing New Order and the Pet Shop Boys on tour. I have not been to a concert at the Budweiser Stage for a long time... now I remember why. It is a terrible venue. We had level 300 seats and the rake of the seats was awful. When the band members entered the stage, the audience stood up and remained standing for the whole concert. Why can't people just sit down and enjoy the music? The worst part though was the miking of the band. The drums and bass were overpowering. So much so, that the vocals could hardly be heard. In fact, even the banter from the band was so muffled as to be impossible to understand. Too bad, it could have been a great show. At least the lighting was excellent.

    Fabulous Show

by Two O on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

What a great show! Paul Oakenfold spinning before the concert and during the intermission was awesome. Pet Shop Boys played an energy packed 75-minute set. New Order was phenomenal - from the opening song (Regret) to the last tune (Temptation), and encore of Love Will Tear Us Apart Again. Great sound and graphics, and set list included all my favourites.

    Amazing Experience!!

by ABG on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Been a huge fan of New Order since the 80's - always my favourite - seeing them live with my husband and kids (next generation fans in their 20's) was an experience we will always cherish. Their performance was all and more than we could have asked for. Brought my husband and me back to the days we first met and relived the music we danced to back in the awesome 80's!! So happy my husband and I got to experience the 80's alternative music scene and relive it again decades later!!

    too expensive venue

    by B. P. on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

The show was amazing but everything at the venue was not just to expensive - it was predatory. Charging 15 dollars for a can of sh***y beer (yes, the price of a six-pack) is outrageous; they're not that expensive even at hockey games. Also, do the bands know that they were selling the "official" t-shirts for 50 dollars a piece...? Bunch of scavengers.

    Fantastic

by Robzilla on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

This show was amazing. So great. New Order were good. They sounded great, and the set list was excellent. But… Pet Shop Boys absolutely stole the show for me. They sounded amazing, but more notably, their stage/lighting/video design was the best I’ve ever seen… and I do video for a living. It was just SO we’ll done that, even on weaker songs, I was totally engaged. Amazing. Also, unexpectedly, I think New Order may be the loudest band I’ve ever seen live.

Pet Shop boys were amazing!! New Order was good

by Dance addict on 2022-09-20Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Pet Shop Boys were fantastic!! Neil engaged the audience!! Loved the DJ Okenfold who kept everyone dancing and in the mood until the next act. New Order were good but didn’t pump up the crowd as much. Still a great concert!!
