About

Pet Shop Boys (Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe) are the most successful duo in UK music history. Since signing to Parlophone Records in 1985, they have achieved 42 Top 30 singles in the UK, including 22 Top 10 hits and No. 1s. They have released 12 studio albums, all of which have made the UK Top 10 as well as album charts around the world.

In 2000 they received the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and at the 2009 Brit Awards they were presented with the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

As writers, producers, and remixers, Tennant and Lowe have collaborated, remixed, or written for a wide range of artists including Dusty Springfield, Lady Gaga, Liza Minnelli, Madonna, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, The Killers, and Girls Aloud.

Pet Shop Boys have also written the West End musical Closer to Heaven with playwright Jonathan Harvey, produced in 2001 by the Really Useful Group. In 2004 they performed their soundtrack to the classic silent film Battleship Potemkin with the Dresden Sinfoniker in a free concert in Trafalgar Square presented by the ICA, and they have since performed it at various spectacular outdoor events in Germany, Spain, and the UK. In 2011 Pet Shop Boys composed a ballet, The Most Incredible Thing, based on the Hans Christian Anderson story of the same title. The project was a collaboration with choreographer Javier De Frutos and Britain’s leading dance theatre, Sadler’s Wells. The ballet won the Evening Standard Theatre Award and was given a second season at Sadler’s Wells the following year.

In 2012 Pet Shop Boys appeared before a worldwide television audience during the London Olympics’ closing ceremony. Two years later, Tennant and Lowe's collaboration with Alan Turing biographer Andrew Hodges, A Man From The Future, received its world premiere as a Late Night Prom concert at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the BBC Singers, and narrator Juliet Stevenson.

In their live shows over the last 20 years, Pet Shop Boys have created an original and influential style of pop musical theatre, collaborating with directors, designers, and artists including Derek Jarman, David Alden and David Fielding, Zaha Hadid, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Es Devlin. Their 2009-2011 arena tour Pandemonium was described in a five-star review in The Times as “the ravishing pop spectacle of the year”.

Pet Shop Boys released the album Electric in 2013, produced by Stuart Price. The album received great critical acclaim and gave Pet Shop Boys their highest album chart positions in 20 years in the UK and USA. The accompanying Electric Tour subsequently visited 38 countries over three years and received ecstatic audience and critical reactions.

Pet Shop Boys’ 13th album Super was also produced by Stuart Price and was released worldwide on April 1, 2016. In July 2016 Pet Shop Boys will play an exclusive four-date residency entitled Inner Sanctum at the Royal Opera House in London. The concerts will be staged by designer Es Devlin and choreographer Lynne Page.

The True Magic Known as PSB

by AndrewJ1 on 2009-09-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

For those of us who keep a list of must see concert acts, it is imperative and highly recommended to include the Pet Shop Boys and their North American tour. The plus twenty years of being performers pays off for concert goers. Truly remarkable and brilliant! This tour encompasses not only the incredible hits of PSB through the years, but also highlights great new songs from their recent album Yes. A remarkable and simple set design concept and amazing lighting and support elements make for a great experience. Time to change your top ten favorite concert experiences of all time, because the PSB's will be high on your list. Highly recommended!

Pet Shop Boys - well done!

by IanT on 2009-09-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

First time they've been to Canada I think, but certainly first time to Vancouver. The show was quite well done - not extravagant, but certainly engaging. The sound was loud enough, and clean and clear for the most part. The props were a marvel of simplicity and ingenuity. The venue (Centre for Performing Arts) is a nice one, in that the slope to the seating floor allows you to see over the person in front of you. glad to have been there!

Pet Shop Boys - audio and visual dream

by Rondee on 2009-09-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

With an overall original sense of "The Wall" - the visuals on the cubes ....CUBES AND MORE CUBES - great visuals on the CUBES.....and the CUBE heads, but along with the great costume changes, and the great sound, this show was all around a dance fest!

    Great music - Slow start

by Thom2 on 2009-09-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Great music - exactly what one would expect. Our only complaint is that the tickets indicated 8:00 pm as the start of the performance but the Pet Shop Boys did not begin until 9:00 pm. Consequently we spent over an hour listening to recorded music from the stage. Rather disappointing.

    PSB still rock!

by Poppet66 on 2009-09-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Over 20 years since West End Girls and the boys are still putting on a show! The staging was wonderful, the dancers fantastic, and Neal can still belt out those songs. The energy in the crowd was great with lots of dancing going on. Well worth the wait but let's hope they're back sooner!

Pet Shop Boys were totally amazing

by mojo2 on 2009-09-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I have been to many concerts but the Pet Shop Boys on Saturday at the Center was one of the most amazing concerts I have ever been to. The sound was phenominal and it was a perfect venue for their music. The stage and light show was awesome and a bonus was the amazing dancers and cheography, it was like being at a Vegas show only much better. The audience stood for the whole show and I don't think there was single person that went home unaffected by such brillient showmanship. I only wish I could have gone to Seattle on Sunday and seen them again.

Front row tickets. Great use of the set and smart use of what were very basic props. Neil is the consummate performer and personifies dignity. Chris was Chris and we love him for that. Can't fault the song selection or the performance. A great night!

Clever staging, awesome, intricate visuals and an incredible quartet dancing their hearts out in a gorgeous turn of the century concert hall - great acoustics, sound was superb and the Pet Shop Boys kept us on our feet for an astounding show of smart, gorgeous music, lyrical theatrics and what was ultimately an emotional and moving show. Highly recommended.

    High energy performance!

by WestEndGirl on 2009-09-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

The Pet Shop Boys' first concert in Vancouver did not disappointment - high energy, great set design and charismatic performance by Neil and Chris had me up on my feet all night long! Dare I say that I found this concert more engaging than Madonna's in Vancouver last October (2008)? The boys had me screaming for more. My only gripe - they didn't perform Domino Dancing
