About

Pet Shop Boys (Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe) are the most successful duo in UK music history. Since signing to Parlophone Records in 1985, they have achieved 42 Top 30 singles in the UK, including 22 Top 10 hits and No. 1s. They have released 12 studio albums, all of which have made the UK Top 10 as well as album charts around the world.

In 2000 they received the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and at the 2009 Brit Awards they were presented with the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

As writers, producers, and remixers, Tennant and Lowe have collaborated, remixed, or written for a wide range of artists including Dusty Springfield, Lady Gaga, Liza Minnelli, Madonna, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, The Killers, and Girls Aloud.

Pet Shop Boys have also written the West End musical Closer to Heaven with playwright Jonathan Harvey, produced in 2001 by the Really Useful Group. In 2004 they performed their soundtrack to the classic silent film Battleship Potemkin with the Dresden Sinfoniker in a free concert in Trafalgar Square presented by the ICA, and they have since performed it at various spectacular outdoor events in Germany, Spain, and the UK. In 2011 Pet Shop Boys composed a ballet, The Most Incredible Thing, based on the Hans Christian Anderson story of the same title. The project was a collaboration with choreographer Javier De Frutos and Britain’s leading dance theatre, Sadler’s Wells. The ballet won the Evening Standard Theatre Award and was given a second season at Sadler’s Wells the following year.

In 2012 Pet Shop Boys appeared before a worldwide television audience during the London Olympics’ closing ceremony. Two years later, Tennant and Lowe's collaboration with Alan Turing biographer Andrew Hodges, A Man From The Future, received its world premiere as a Late Night Prom concert at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the BBC Singers, and narrator Juliet Stevenson.

In their live shows over the last 20 years, Pet Shop Boys have created an original and influential style of pop musical theatre, collaborating with directors, designers, and artists including Derek Jarman, David Alden and David Fielding, Zaha Hadid, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Es Devlin. Their 2009-2011 arena tour Pandemonium was described in a five-star review in The Times as “the ravishing pop spectacle of the year”.

Pet Shop Boys released the album Electric in 2013, produced by Stuart Price. The album received great critical acclaim and gave Pet Shop Boys their highest album chart positions in 20 years in the UK and USA. The accompanying Electric Tour subsequently visited 38 countries over three years and received ecstatic audience and critical reactions.

Pet Shop Boys’ 13th album Super was also produced by Stuart Price and was released worldwide on April 1, 2016. In July 2016 Pet Shop Boys will play an exclusive four-date residency entitled Inner Sanctum at the Royal Opera House in London. The concerts will be staged by designer Es Devlin and choreographer Lynne Page.

I've been a huge fan of The Pet Shop Boys for 20 years and was completely blown away by the concert last night. Neil's voice was absolulely melodic. The dancers/back up singers made it very entertaining to watch & made you want to jump up & start dancing. It was the best show I've seen in a long time & was so glad they finally came to Vancouver!!!

    an evening with PSB

by designerjohn on 2009-09-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

The Pet Shop Boys finally had their Vancouver debut, and Niel Tennant said it best; "why did we wait so long". Why indeed? The PSB did not disappoint, they played nearly all of their hits with stunning videos projected behind them. It truly was a show, and the intimate setting of the venue made it just that much better. Highly enjoyable.

    ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!

by Nicola1973 on 2009-09-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

This concert was AMAZING! This venue was perfect for their first show ever in Vancouver. I had seats 43 and 44 in Row V and the only way that this could have been better was if I had seats 44 and 45 (on the aisle) OR if they were a bit closer to the stage. The set, dancers, costumes, and lighting were phenomenal. The Centre For Performing Arts was packed and the crowd was so energized that it was tangible. The opening DJ was a great choice and in every row there was someone dancing to his music. I've waited 23 years to see the Pet Shop Boys live in concert and I thought the only way I would ever get to see them was in Europe. They need to come back again for their next tour....if there's any doubt in their minds about whether it's worth their while, I think that this first visit is proof enough that there are so many people who love them. I wouldn't want to see them in any bigger venue because then the pure magic that is Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant would be lost!! THANK YOU BOYS!!!

    Great show!

by Jaybo on 2009-09-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

The Pet Shop Boys showed us last night what can be done with a little creativity and lots of talent. Neil Tennant's voice is still in fine form and able to reproduce the same sounds that made the PSB an 80s icon. They turned a small stage into a major production with something as simple as cardboard boxes. Through the use of electronice images and lots of creativty they made the most of a minimalist production.

Pet Shop Boys - amazing show

by SoraiyaK on 2009-09-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Being PSB's debut concert in Vancouver, I didn't know what to expect and left the concert blown away. Their concert was a show combining outstanding props, lights and background; but also unbelievable dancers and theatrics. The Boys certainly came out with a bang and performed many of their hits - but left me wanting more. I realized with all their top hits, they couldn't have fulfilled all my requests. The Boys were in good form and sounded just as their (back then) record recordings. I would see them again in a (no pun intended) Heartbeat!

    PSB ROCKED!!!!

by NUFCNEIL on 2009-09-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I didn't get the meet and greet package, but I heard from people who did that it only lasted for about 20 seconds then you had to move along. All that money for 20 seconds? I dont know. The usual set list, no change here. What can I say? A beautiful venue, great people, and a fantastic performance by the boys.

by jetman on 2009-09-20The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

GREAT STAGE SHOW...SOME OF THE DANCERS WOULD HAVE BEEN EMLIMATED IN 2 SECONDS ON YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, BUT THE SHOW WAS COOL AND THE MUSIC GREAT. ALL RECORDED MUSIC WHICH SURPRIZED ME A BIT, SO IT MAKES ME THINK THEY MAY HAVE BEEN LIPSINCING. GLAD THEY FINALLY GRACED US WITH THEIR PRESENCE....THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE BEEN MISSING A GOOD THING.

    Pet Shop Boys in NYC

by VancouverPetHead on 2009-09-03Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

They sang New York City Boy in NYC. Most of the concert is the same as the one in Europe. Another legendary concert by the Pet Shops.
