Phoenix Suns History

As Arizona's original professional sports franchise, the Phoenix Suns were established in the NBA in 1968 and for the last 30 years have been entertaining fans in downtown Phoenix at Footprint Center. The rich history of the franchise includes some of most memorable teams in NBA history, including the 1975–76 "Sunderella Suns," the 1992–93 team that featured Charles Barkley and reached the NBA Finals, and the "Seven Seconds or Less" era teams, during which Steve Nash was twice named the league's MVP.

Enshrined in the Suns’ Ring of Honor are Alvan Adams, Barkley, Tom Chambers, Jerry Colangelo, Walter Davis, Cotton Fitzsimmons, Connie Hawkins, Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Al McCoy, John MacLeod, Nash, Joe Proski, Dick Van Arsdale and Paul Westphal.

The Phoenix Suns had a successful 2020–21 season, winning the Western Conference and narrowly falling in the NBA Finals to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Suns ended the 2021–2022 season with a franchise record of 64 wins and finished with the NBA's best record by eight games above the second best, the league's largest differential in 22 years. They also made back-to-back appearances in the Western Conference semifinals in 2022 and 2023.

    Suns/76ers

by DM83 on 2010-12-31US Airways Center - Phoenix

Well I had Toyota lounge seats 5 rows off the court at center court. Pretty awesome. I got the ticket though the resale program at ticketmaster for $750.00. Unfortunately, the Suns management seemingly isn't very bright. (Man Amare would have ooked good. Gortat??? c'mon???)They traded away all their good players for bench warmers, and a has been (Vince Carter) who for the most part goes through the motions 9/10 gms). The Suns still can't play defense and now they can't score. I think I'll be going to Orlando for Xmas break from now on. Unless a trade is made it could be a sad end to Nash's career. I bought a cheerleader calender and got about 8 of the 18 to sign it. I am going to the New Year's Eve game, and will try and get the rest. I asked for assistance at the game regarding getting all the gal's signatures but the staff person couldn't find a contact in the program. (Not too impressed) I called the Sun's office (community relations) and asked if they could help as I left a voice mail. Two days later they still haven't called back. I am a teacher, and thought it would be nice to get a couple autographs and inspirtrational messages for a few of my students on the calender. A few years ago I got the Magic Gals to sign the same and the kids got a kick out of it. So I am a little disappointed I couldn't get some assistance from the Sun's office to further complete this plan. Oh well!

    Lebron James was amazing

by Cypressmews on 2010-12-26US Airways Center - Phoenix

Even up in the nosebleed seats, James easily stood out. Steve Nash also played a heroic game. He was constantly double-teamed but was able to to move the ball to the open man. It worked for the 1st quarter. But when was replaced by Dragic, the Heat game plan worked. They shut down the Suns and took a commanding 10 pt lead which they held for the rest of the game.

    Disappointed in Phoenix Suns

by Rhoda on 2010-10-12Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

Went to watch Steve Nash play ... and when he did he was fantastic - everything that I had hoped for. But; unfortunately, he didn't play very much -- especially in the 2nd half. He should have played more for the home crowd ... and for marketing purposes to get a team here out of Vancouver. I realize that this is exhibition = but I still felt ripped off. Way too many fouls & therefore stoppage in play -- game did not flow.

    RAPTORS ROCK

by jackyz001 on 2010-10-11Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

Raptors had a great win over Suns .But can I get Steve Nash to sigh my photograph?Although there is no superstar in the Raptors team, their teamwork and energy make them win mos of the battle whatever kin rebound, fastbreak point, shooting percen6.,assist .Fans still love Nash, but apparently he can't lead Suns further without any help from his teammate. Just look what his teammate did, Grant Hill lose his temper and got ejected just after their center got 6 foul.we can tell what a big loss is to Suns after Stadmire move to Newyork. We still love Nash, but we have to face the fact that Nash is coming down from the throne as well as the SUNS team. Raptors have many young player like Weems which give them hope in the next 2-3years.Chris Bosh is gone, but Raptors have to go on.Come on Raptors, bring it.

    Lame Game

by LARO on 2010-10-10Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

The worst NBA game (regular season or exhibition) I have ever seen in my life. largely due to over-zealous officiating. Officials ejected two starters for absolutely no reason; Stu Jackson needs to review this game and perhaps re-evaluate these referees' suitability to work in this league. Not a good way to reintroduce NBA ball to Vancouver.

    Boring Basketball

by Tanko on 2010-10-10Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

I was very psyched to see an NBA game in Vancouver and especially to get a chance to see my man Steve Nash. Rogers Arena was jam-packed and the energy was really great going in. Unfortunately the energy quickly and steadily declined as the over-officiating grounded the flow of the game to a virtual halt. Grant Hill was ejected. Grant Hill! The game was a complete blow out, Nash hardly played and it was a bench players game. Terrible basketball. People were streaming out of the area as early as the third quarter. Major disappointment because the game was hyped and heavily promoted / advertised, but the players did not seem to care at all about putting on much of a show.

    Canada Rules!!!

by j2010 on 2010-10-09Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

Strange game. How is that players get tossed out for touching each other? I go every year to these games. But this will be my last one. I was so excited sitting in the 4th row and loving the game. But why didn't Steve Nash play in the 2nd half of the game? Last year he was injured and didn't play either. But he looked fine this year. Very disappointing for most fans!

    Steve Nash

by KobeBryant on 2010-10-09Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

In the the fourth & last quarter of the basketball game, Steve Nash did NOT return back on the court to play. This put a bad taste in everyone's mouth who came to see the hometown boy. Steve it was great giving away your running shoes, but we PAID to come & see you play...not sit on the bench for the second half. Bogus!

    not worth going

by grand17 on 2010-10-09Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

i was hyped to see the nba after so long without. my memories of the grizzlies were good but this game was not nearly as exciting. there was little to no production value. yes it was exhibition but if they wanted to play it purely as exhibition then why bother bringing it to vancouver. it left a bitter taste in my mouth and soured me to the nba. steve nash barely played and the fans chanted "we want nash". seemed like nothing more then self promotion. i was a steve nash fan, key word is was. he sat out nearly the whole second half. i wont be there the next time

    Not a great game

by Seniorfan73 on 2010-10-09Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

The Phoenix Suns were out played, out rebounded and lacked drive and determination that they put forth last year. We are Pheonix fans ( read Nash) and were disappointed in their overall play. This said, bring them back next year.

Nash was the star attraction, yet did not play enough. The game was a blow out and not worth the price or hype. I left with 4 minutes tp go, when there was 50pt lead for the Raptors. Love the NBA but would not waste money on exhibition games...I would drive to Portland instead.
