Red Hot Chilli Peppers on Tour

To many, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are more than just a Los Angeles rock band from the '80s -- they're musical pioneers who took the world by storm with their eclectic blend of funky, alternative punk rock laced with hip-hop that sounded unlike anything anyone had heard before. The band first formed in Los Angeles in 1983 and quickly gained a following large enough to sell 300,000 copies of their debut self-titled album. Over the next few years, the band experimented with different musical genres and went through lineup changes, proving themselves to be one of the most innovative and resilient rock groups in recent history. In 2022, the Grammy-winning band released Unlimited Love -- their 12th studio album and first one with original guitarist John Frusciante since 2006's Stadium Arcadium. Celebrating the release of the new album, the band hit the road for a global tour featuring all four original members -- vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and Frusciante.  Be sure to see this legendary ensemble back in action performing classic hits and new songs by grabbing tickets to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in a city near you today.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers Live in Concert

In 1987, Red Hot Chili Peppers were named Band of the Year by LA Weekly, but the band really hit their stride with their fourth album, 1989's Mother's Milk, which cracked the Billboard 200 and went gold a year later. The RHCP had earned worldwide recognition by the time they dropped Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991). The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and the album's first single, "Give It Away," took off like wildfire, soaring to the top of the charts and eventually winning the band a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal in 1993. The album also featured the single "Under the Bridge," which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 -- their highest-charting single to date. To promote what some might call the Red Hot Chili Peppers' magnum opus, 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik, three of the era's biggest bands -- Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam -- joined the Blood Sugar Sex Magik tour as opening acts. Whenever it was time for the headlining set to come on, seeing the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in concert would always feel like an invigorating burst of energy for all the people packed into sold-out stadiums. Their funk-rap breakdowns, animated stage presence, and minimal clothing attire offered relief from the brooding grunge of the punk-metal status quo. All in all, Blood Sugar Sex Magik was a tremendous commercial success, selling 12 million copies to date, cinching the #186 position on Rolling Stone's list of the Top 500 Albums of All Time, and winning three out of the seven MTV Music Award nominations it received.

The band made the Rolling Stone Top 500 list a second time with Californication (1999), their seventh studio album and most successful yet with 16 million copies sold. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers supported the album on tour for two consecutive years at sold-out venues across the world. The album lit a californi-craze for the RHCP that has burned steady since. The first live album, recorded during a 2004 Red Hot Chilli Pepper concert in Hyde Park, was the No. 1 event of the year on Billboard's Top Concert Boxscores with a record-breaking number of 258,000 fans and a total of over $17 million in tickets sold in the span of three nights.

Since then, they've been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2012), released a handful of more albums: 2006's Stadium Arcadium, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200; 2011's I'm With You, which hit No. 2; and 2016's The Getaway, which also peaked at No. 2.

    RHCP = Awesome²

by Industreal on 2012-11-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I've waited a long time to see these guys and if I had to sum up the entire show in one word, it would be "wow." Not only was their performance fantastic, but the energy they gave off was simply amazing. I can't recommend seeing them enough; you will not be disappointed.

    LOVE CHILI'S

by Arouralee on 2012-11-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I have always loved the Chili Peppers and have wanted to see them live. Flea was the highlight of the night. What a show man!!! Anthony Kiedis on said thanks for coming at the start of the show and that was it. His singing was amazing but a bit more interaction would have been nice.

    Chilli Peppers Rock!

by SBJC on 2012-11-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The show in Vancouver was amazing! All of them prance around stage like they're twenty years younger than they are. Unbelievable energy and stamina. The jams were excellent and all of their hit tunes were played flawless. Never seen them before, but I'd recommend to anyone that this is a gig to see. Truly exceptional!

well Red Hot Chili Peppers being my favourite band that's still alive and touring there was no way I was going to be disappointed. and the Chili peppers exceeded all my expectations, the Jams between songs were incredible, the lights and background visuals were awesome, and the musicianship was above anything I've seen before. The only disappointing thing was the fact that the sound in big arena's like rogers arena is not that great.

by CoolD on 2012-11-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Rogers Arena rocked on Sat. night with a great performance by the Chili Peppers. They are a hard working, high energy blast of refreshing entertainment. Amazing musicians putting out great sound while jumping five feet off the ground and doing hand stands.

Sounded good. Flea is amazing but that's about it.

by Bonjernobella on 2012-11-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Flea is just the best bass player. He is the front man that does all the entertaining. Anthony wore a hat pretty much the whole show, he sounded good but was kinda boring :( I have loved rhcp for a long time and regretted not seeing them in 06 so I was so excited to go and I'd have a lot of fun. I have seen more energy that's for sure. Flea carried the whole show. Flea is why I went an love it he didn't disappoint! I wanna give them a 5 just for him!

    RHCP hit it!

    by 1960 on 2012-11-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

i got just what i expected and never disappointed. Although i wish John Frusciante was still part of the band, i thought Josh Klinghoffer was an awesome choice for a replacement. Too bad there wasn't a second show added, i would have gone to that as well.

RED HOT after nearly 30 years

by Charrick on 2012-11-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Fantastic show!!! If you didn't know that the Chili's have been around for almost 30 years you would think they were a much younger band. They still perform with all the vigour of their youth and their music is immortal. The crowds age range was 6 -60 showing the wide appeal of these guys and they did not dissapoint. Keep it up RHCP and come back sooner next time!

    RHCP hits gold

by carolene on 2012-11-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

At 44, I like to think I am aging well. I still look good and I can swing my weight around. So is this band !!! The crowd was somehow anxious to get these guys on. They did not seem to care for the opening act which was good enough to get the party going, yet seemed uneasy with the larger arena & its canuck northern attitude. As soon as the living legends hit the stage, the crowd shifted to wild. It held on to every dance move & aerobatics that are the eternal RHCP trademarks. With the aid of a brilliant light show, the band just electrified us with non-stop and steady stream of perfectly rehearsed music. We hung to the songs lyrics we all know too well: The amazing discography of this band just so impossible to keep up with. I stood and danced throughout the 2 hour they gave us I thinking I was attending an "event of a lifetime". The golden boys didn't show their age one minute !!! New guitarist Josh guy and flea had brilliant guitar conversations towards the end too that were worth the show. I somehow missed the whiny guitar sounds that gives so much texture to the recorded material and...ah! well, they could also have talked to us more. After Flea's sort and silly introduction (is he still looking for a totem pole ?) Kiedis hardly said a word. And , ok; it might be me, but he looked "depressed" !? The Hitler look , hm ...not his best on the record. Nevertheless, they gave their 100% effort and a fantastic musical presence that was worth every penny I spent on this ticket (What a turn on). The great tiger burned bright right through the Vancouver night and I am hoping to see them again.
