Riverdance announces its 30th Anniversary celebrations.

Since Riverdance first emerged onto the world stage, its fusion of Irish and international dance and music has captured the hearts of millions worldwide. The Grammy award-winning music and the infectious energy of its mesmerising choreography and breathtaking performances has left audiences in awe and established Riverdance as a global cultural sensation.

To celebrate this incredible 30th year milestone, Riverdance will embark on a special anniversary tour, bringing its magic to audiences around the world.  This spectacular production rejuvenates the much-loved original show with new innovative choreography, costumes and state of the art lighting, projection and motion graphics. And for the first time Riverdance welcomes "The New Generation" of performers, all of whom were not born when show began 30 years ago.

John McColgan, Director of Riverdance said "It is both a privilege and a delight to celebrate 30 years of Riverdance and the unique journey it has taken us on. In those 30 years the show has transformed from a spectacle into a global cultural phenomenon - continuously evolving yet remaining true to its Irish roots. On this upcoming tour we look forward to welcoming 'The New Generation' of artists while paying tribute to the talented performers, creators, dedicated crew, and the millions of fans who have made Riverdance a worldwide celebration of music and dance."

Audiences will enjoy a unique and memorable performance which blends the traditional and the contemporary, showcasing the skill and passion of the world-class of dancers, musicians and singers in the Riverdance ensemble.

Composed by Bill Whelan. Produced by Moya Doherty. Directed by John McColgan.

  • Riverdance soared!

The dancers and musicians were incredible. No idea how they get their feet to fly like that! the lead male dancer and the two dancers representing African-American style were outstanding (and funny)! The percussionist was so impressive. Must see. Only suggestion - if seeing this at K-Rock Centre again I would not get seats on the floor. People's heads in the way was a definite distraction I had not anticipated.

    1. The lead female vocalist had an incredible voice but the mic needed to be stronger, she could not be heard. 2. I have seen Riverdance perform in previous years and found this one rather lacking, the choreography and dance numbers were amazing the company is extremely talented but not sure as to the theme of the performance it did not flow as well as others have. 3. The musical interludes were interesting, very talented musicians but it seemed the reason for this was as filler for the dance numbers. The friends I attended the performance with felt the same way, the performers were truly gifted but something was very lacking.

Riverdance was the best I have ever seen. I was totally enthralled with the performance. I have never seen such amazing talent. The foot work was like no other. They were so in sync it was fascinating.

  • Riverdance - Great! KROCK Centre - lousy venue

    by Trakshin on 2017-05-24Rogers K-Rock Centre - KingstonRating: 3 out of 5

Tap dancing section stole the show! Percussionist made the music come to life!! The sound was not good, lacked the clarity and punch that you would expect from Riverdance. Stage was very restricted, could not see the percussionist. Floor seats were actually the worst for this show, could not see the dancers' feet. Venue seats were horribly uncomfortable. Freezing cold air blew straight down on top of us. Paid Ottawa/Montreal prices for a substandard venue, next time will go to the NAC, Montreal, or Toronto. AMAZING SHOW, substandard venue.

I thought it was really good to watch on TV but so see it in person its even more amazing, the movement of the feet and they are so synchronize its incredible. I would go see them again.

Some of it was pretty cheesy ... might of been cool 20 yrs ago .. but today it was just a bit lame. But the dancers ... they were just so incredible they still make it worthwhile!!

I saw Riverdance 17 years ago and was very anxious to see this magnificent production again. I was very disappointed that it suffered in comparison to my first live production of Riverdance. It was also advertised that Michael Flatley was making his final appearance and he was not part of this Riverdance!

  • Riverdance was energizing!

I was in front row seats with my two granddaughters. I saw Riverdance about ten years ago with my older granddaughter and we loved it then and all three of us loved this performance.

Seen before, however this show seemed to have more personality and energy. Loved it.

  • Riverdance Over-rated

by OldMountain on 2015-10-14Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

I enjoyed this less than I thought I would. I guess a little Irish dance goes a long way. That wasn't helped by the fact I was too close to the front (aisle C) and couldn't see the footwork. A little upper body stiffness also goes a long way. Not being able to see feet also adversely impacted the flamenco dancer - just a lot of posturing and skirt tossing. I guess I'm a philistine. I thought the Russian segment was pretty basic despite a few good turns. As noted below, the segment with the American Tappers was the most enjoyable after the first couple of scenes in Act One. I bought the DVD before I saw the show and that's probably a good thing - hopefully I can see the feet on it.

High energy performance great program!! The sound amplification, however, was a bit too high. This was apparent when you could hear the solo singer gasping for air in between song lines.

Excellent show...but I'd prefer more dancing and less singing, after all, the show was called Riverdance, not Riversing.

I really enjoyed this production. Although it was on a smaller scale than the typical television production, you were still able to get the full effect. The dancers were amazing and the use of the live musicians and traditional instruments really brought an extra level to the event.
