Great show! Robert Plant's voice is still amazing, and the show had an awesome vibe to it!
Plant and the Band, a seamless strand of placid gospel, smooth heart southern blues and crimson gold yesteryear rock. Classic, like the man himself.
Robert Plant is still an awesome entertainer and his band is very talented too. But the show was way too COUNTRY!! Even the Zepplin tunes were Country-ized. Too bad. I have a DVD of Robert Plat and Jimmy Page called 'No Quarter' where they play some Zepplin tunes differently BUT they kept it rockin' which Plant should have done in this show. 3 Stars *** - Brent
Great show! It definitely was not Led Zeppelin, but it was really great to finally see Robert Plant in concert. My mom had been bugging me to see that show for a while, and finally got tickets. She is a huge fan, and the reason why I respect and adore Led Zeppelin, not to mention R. Plant. After the show, my mom turned to me and said "Now I can die". I just laughed and thought how great it was to experience this with her. The band was very amazing and Plant let the others have their chance in the spot light...what a humble character he is. We had a fantastic time.
I was so excited to finally get a chance to see this legend live and wondered which tunes he might play. I know Zeppelin was along time ago but thats how he made his mark so i expected to hear some thunder from that era! I am also a big fan of his solo efforts and was looking forward to hearing that catalogue. What i witnessed was something totally different. I guess he played most of his new band's material, did one solo that i know (Tall Cool One), and a few Zeppelin songs played with a twist. Ramble on, Gallow's Pole, and Rock n' Roll stood out the most! Don't get me wrong, i'm glad i saw him but wished i had gone to the Page/Plant shows from years gone by to see the real deal! What was interesting was he sung backup on quite a few songs performed by other band memebers. Plant can hum on the harmonica i tell ya! The band is quite gifted but i went to see Robert Plant!
An excellent evening of music from both Robert Plant & the Band of Joy , even if it was far too short. C'mon, an hour and a half show, where did they think they were, at a casino? A top notch band backing up the best rock vocalist ever. Robert put his ego aside to feature the singing talents of the band members as well.
not surprisied that it was so good......he still has the voice.........great twist on the old zepplin songs.
He can still sing. I love the fact that he is still exploring music and his abilities in other genres. Hie band is full of heavy weights in the music business.Great show.
Despite being in his 60s, he's still one of the most amazing performers I've ever seen.
Interesting mix of music! Mostly Band of Joy album. Played some Zeppelin (but probably not enough for the fans in the stands). I loved the gospel songs like, "Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down", "A Satisfied Mind", "Wade In The Water" and "In My Dying Day". Plant still has his strong vocals. Really came out in songs like "Rambling On". Wish he could have played a song or two from his solo efforts like "Pictures at Eleven" and "Principle of the Moments". Great musicians with the Band of Joy. A good night of music!
Show was fantastic; the arrangements of the performances were fabulous. It was good of him to showcase each of his band members.
His best concert yet!!! Amazing group of singers/musicians backing him up. The show left us wanting more!! Only disappointment was the sound - sound techs should be at the back of the venue instead of onstage where the true pitch of sound and volume can be heard and tuned at it's best
I still can't believe I saw THE god of rock and roll. All hail Godbert Plant!
My girlfriend and I saw the Saturday Jan 22nd event with Mr. Plant and he did not disappoint. The guy still has the pipes and incredible stage presence. It really makes you hope he gets on board with the other Zep guys for one big show, but as my girlfriend says, why does he need to do that? She is 100% correct, but hey a guy can dream can't he! When he did Tangerine and Ramble On, the place was rocking. We just walked down the aisle to about 10 rows back and it was great. Security let things flow. Buddy Miller and the Griffin girl and Darrell Cole ( I think I have the name correct) were excellent band mates for his style of music. I also love the venue. It was our first visit to the Sony and you can bring your drinks to your seat....my God I was in heaven...no rushing to finish your beer to get back into your ACC overpriced venue, food, drink and t-shirt venue seat!! Even the Plant t-shirts were unreal.....imagine only $25.00 ( and of course the $10 ones outside...)...I asked the guy selling the shirts, what's with the consumer friendly pricing and he said.....Robert Plant doesn't care...he just wants everyone to be happy. Wow, what a refreshing attitude in today's money is everything society. I had seen Plant before with Paige and then on his own as the Strange Sensation and he did a couple of Zep heavies, but skipped them here....the version of Rock and Roll was done in a folksy version which I didn't care for, but he is the master and can do whatever the heck he likes so I am ok with that. As soon as my girl saw him enter the stage she said Oh My.....he's HOT! so I had to take the back seat to him for an hour and a half, but I can think of worse things. So now she has a WHOLE LOTTA LOVE for two guys!
To see a master work his craft and to be in the presence of greatness is an unbeatable experience. Robert Plant still has swagger and a clear, beautiful voice. He captivated the audience from the moment he strolled onto the stage. Plant was obviously the star of the show, however, he still gave his band members their own chance to shine while he sang back-up and played harmonica. The band, in turn, was great, never missing a note and although you can never recreate the magic of Zeppelin, they did hold their own with the four classics Plant chose. Overall, a great night.
The combination of these two bands made for a tremendous evening of music. The All-Stars, a two piece, warmed the crowd up nicely with some stand out playing. Robert Plant, Buddy Miller, Patty Griffin and the others were mesmerizing. The music was a brilliant cross section of Plants catalog including a couple or three Zeppelin bones. It was a really great night!!
A great evening. The set list was a noce mix of Bob's solo matereial and Zeppelin tunes. The Band of JOy is a truly gifted group of musicians, each talented in their own right. Having purchased the CD, it was enjoyable to see the songs performed live.
Whatever Robert Plant does-He is a Legend and it is a privilage to see him. An excellent show.
Robert Plant performed at Knebworth in 1979, with the original Led Zeppelin line up. Two days in August were etched into our brains. As a young man I savoured the memory, until, almost against my will, I was persuaded to see him over thirty years later, with his 'Band of Joy'. To my delight his voice and presence are unmarred by the ravages of time. After playing lots of new, and very good, songs, and allowing his very skilled band perform a lot of great tunes we were treated to a few Led Zeppelin classics. They sounded as fresh raw and powerful as they had all those years before. A real treat, in an auditorium that has been superbly renovated and has excellent acoustics.
No flow no production values just a legend living off his past.
