  • Band of Joy was fantastic

by Anonymous on 2011-04-19Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

We went to this Concert with some friends of ours, and enjoyed the show very much. The last time we went to see Robert Plant, was back in 1989, at his Now and Zen tour. Being able to see him perform again was Wonderful.

  • Robert Plant was AMAZING!!!!

by leahhi on 2011-04-19Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The BEST show I've seen!!! Absolutely amazing! Even the guy behind me yelling, Robert! Robert Plant!" every 5 minutes didn't tick me off! Plant's voice is pure gold.

  • VERY DISAPPOINTING

    by JR123 on 2011-04-19Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

was very disappointed with this show. extremely poor stage, almost like he cheaped out. Hardly any lights, which isn't a big deal if the sound and ambiance is is good, but in my opinion it was not...at all. Not many people were standing during show, except close to front of coarse, so I'm pretty sure many felt the same. Voice sounded very high pitched. I've seen Robert Plant a few times now and he's been awesome, but not impressed at all this time. Didn't play any old tunes hardly. pretty sure we weren't all there to hear his new Band of Joy songs, a few sure, but 80% of show...no thanks.

  • A mix of old, borrowed and new performed perfectly

    by stauf7 on 2011-02-07Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time in the Fox Theatre and I was completely blown away by its beauty. Even though I was seated in the balcony, I couldn't complain at all about the quality of sound or the view. Robert Plant's singing isn't showing any age with his range and powerful filling the theatre, this was especially true when he shocked us by playing a few classic Zeppelin tunes with a Band of Joy spin on them. Speaking of the Band of Joy, they were perfect. I was impressed with the diverse setlist and that Robert would move to the back of the stage to sing backups whenever he turned to another musician to sing their song. Fantastic.

  • Robert Plant is a gentleman

by TroutBondy on 2011-01-31Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Enjoyed the night from start to finish. Patti Griffin and band are great singers and had plenty of stage time thanks to RP's recognition of good talent. RP's voice is still good and he sure knows how to move.

  • 'Tall Cool One' Rocked A Well Sub Zero Toronto!

by georgeandrew on 2011-01-28Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was a long drive down from Peterborough on a -25c evening to Toronto to witness the second of two evenings that the Band Of Joy were playing at the Sony Theatre. And it was certainly a great evening! I have to admit that I have never been a big fan of Zeppelin but was always aware of their music and enjoyed it. The Sony Theatre is a great venue for a Rock & Roll concert in the old fashioned sense! Well the fact you can check your coat is a luxury that the Air Canada Centre and Rogers Centre [still Skydome to me BTW!] cannot offer. So having seen the Plant & Page tour of 1994 and unable to get to the Raising Sands concert previously in Toronto due to work commitments as a DJ I was looking forward to the performance as I settled comfortably into my seat! You just had to be there! Only disapointment was he did not throw in "In The Mood" somewhere!? Hopefully there will be a DVD somewhere along the way from the tour and I can relive a great night!

  • Robert Plant still has it

by Jerryc on 2011-01-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This is the first of 2 shows I went to. Tickets sold out almost instantly, I wound up in the 24th row. For most other bands I would have tossed these tickets back and said "forget about it - too far away from stage" Robert Plant is one of those performers that I'm willing to see even if it is from a seat that's a mile from stage. (for me anything more than 10 rows from stage I don't usually bother with) Great show, glad I went. Be forewarned, if you're expecting high energy Led Zeppelin, you may be disappointed - you're in for a night of mellow folksy tunes (including some different renditions of a few Zep songs). Now folksy isn't boring..... it's a real nice twist on things. I had a great time.

  • Robert Plant was great

by Jerryc on 2011-01-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Robert Plant put on a great show, but if you're expecting a hard driving rock 'n roll show you aren't going to get one. Very laid back, folksy, bluesy. One song was a little too country for my taste, but the rest was great.

  • Robert Plant & his Band - A Joy to Behold!

by BeatNic on 2011-01-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What an outstanding evening! Every member of this Band of Joy are incredible individually and together they are on fire. Fronted by a true Rock God makes this ensemble a joy to behold. How aptly named! I enjoyed every song and thought the sound and venue were terrific. The music was all much better live than on the album which really is a testament to the quality of these musicians. Standouts in today's world of overproduced over rated and under talented wanna-bees. Highlights were most definitely the infusion of some classic Zeppelin gems-- Gallow's Pole, A fabulous version of Ramble On, Houses of the Holy, and of course Rock and Roll. Its been a long time since I've rock'n rolled so happily in the crowd loving every moment of the evening. I'm so glad Robert Plant is still singing and following his heart and great taste into areas that keep him inspired and his fans treated to great music performed by the best talent in the business..

by KWbber on 2011-01-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Great mix of old and new. He did not play my favourite tune off the new CD. Sound mixing was a little off....muffled.

  • Robert Plant will NEVER get old

by Amandacam on 2011-01-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing show. Great performers. The backup band is MUCH more than that; they're a fantastic group of musicians, that meld together beautifully. Rock, country, a tiny bit of gospel... Loved it!

  • Robert Plant and the Band of Joy

Awesome !!! The opening act was very good too - Mississippi Allstars - for 2 guys they did a great job. Set us up for what we were in for...

  • by ILMPF on 2011-01-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great show. The individual band members were excellent in their own right. All very talented and we enjoyed hearing each of them take the lead. The audience got really excited when they did the Zeppelin tunes...would have liked a few more of those. Glad we went.

  • Bobby and The Band of Joy were Brilliant

by dmcferg on 2011-01-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

He's still got it. His voice is still unbelievable. I love the new tunes. It was an amazing show. I really like the remake of the Zepplin tunes, giving them a Southern Rock beat was Brilliant, a joy to hear and and wiggle to. There wasn't enough space to dance. I was very happy that I got to go and enjoy the show. Everyone in the band of joy are very talented and sound very good together. Very wicked voices in that band, and not just Roberts. The Mississippi Allstars was the perfect Opening Band. There music is incredible and really got the people in a great mood.

  • PLANT IS STILL A GOLDEN GOD

by hystericallycalm on 2011-01-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

RAMBLE ON, GALLOWS POLE, MISTY MOUNTAIN HOP, HOUSES OF THE HOLY, ROCK AND ROLL AND the incredible Band of Joy...what can I say? It was a dream come true.

  • Poor Plant

by Gators1 on 2011-01-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

He let 3 of his bandmembers play their own songs, which were ok, but not Plant..which is who we came to see. Plus he played an other song that I've never heard before and is not on any Plant or Zep cd. The songs from Band of Joy as well as the few from Allison Krause, and a few Zep songs were awesome, but not enough to make up for a poor show. Disappointed!

  • Plant is subtle and powerful!

by Blackadder on 2011-01-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

a memorable evening again with a Robert Plant full of energy and a very subtle interpretation of a rich songs package...from the new album, House of Cards and Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down - exceptional songs - loved it ... the Zeppelin era songs more melodic this time but very well adapted by the Band of Joy - awesome band with a lot of musical talent.
