About

Roxette is a pop-rock duo hailing from Sweden, with Marie Fredriksson on vocals and Per Gessle on guitar and supporting vocals. Before Roxette, both Fredriksson and Gessle had established musical careers in their home country, until joining to record their first Swedish hit single,” Neverending Love.”
From the band's inception in 1986, they achieved international acclaim in the late ‘80s, thanks to Look Sharp!, their commercial breakthrough album. They have sold over 60 million records globally and received gold and platinum awards for their Joyride and Look Sharp! albums. Their greatest hits album was Don't Bore Us, Get to the Chorus, which was followed by a hiatus until 1999, when Have a Nice Day was released, followed by Room Service in 2001. After a 10-year break, Charm School was released in 2011, followed by Travelling in 2012.
Roxette have toured globally, with their 1991 worldwide tour going out to over 1.5 million fans across a challenging schedule of 107 concerts. They have also toured extensively throughout Europe and Latin America, where they have won Platinum awards, and featured at the Night of the Proms, as well as a number of international concerts. They have also received multiple awards, including the Grammys, MTV, Rock Music Awards and more. “Listen to Your Heart” and “It Must Have Been Love” have received BMI awards for notching up over four million plays on the radio.
They are notable for breaking the tricky US market almost by accident, when an American student bought a copy of Look Sharp! home in 1988 and passed it to a local radio station. Popular reception saw Roxette's music rapidly spread to other radio stations, and marked the start of their success on the international market. EMI released The Look in the US in 1989 and it went straight to No. 1 in the American charts, later topping the music charts in 25 countries. Other notable releases include Dressed for Success, Dangerous in 1989, and the hit “It Must Have Been Love,” which featured on the film Pretty Woman and was the band's most successful release, topping the charts globally and going platinum three times. Later releases include Crash! Boom! Bang! in 1994 and Don't Bore Us, Get to the Chorus in 1995. Have a Nice Day was released in 1999.

    Roxette simply rocks!!!

    by jetsrule234 on 2012-09-17MTS Centre - Winnipeg

Roxette at their very best, playing all their smash hits from Dangerous to Listen To Your Heart. They were simply fantastic - a Joyride, if you will. Glass Tiger, the opening act, were nearly as good. They say "Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone". I won't.

Happy to see the show. Best we could have asked for within the 80's rock genre.

    Roxette Rocked it!

by IamKGB on 2012-09-16Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Glass Tiger blew onto the stage and brought back memories from 20+ years ago of me and my sister bouncing around to Someday, Thin Red Line, Don't forget me when I'm gone...we were there with our Mom, who also remembered the songs...from hearing them over, and over, and over again. Roxette came out and rocked it for over an hour! Joyride, Must have been love, Listen to your heart, and on and on. Great show! Both bands sounded great live!

Wish we would have more shows like this

by Inskipp on 2012-09-16Rogers Arena - Vancouver

We went to see Roxette last Wednesday. It was absolutely amazing performance! Time flew by and we did not noticed it! Everybody was singing alone with Roxette. It was so much energy, so much fun in the air! We need more shows like this!

    Roxette has still got it!!!

    by 4Mimi on 2012-09-15Rogers Arena - Vancouver

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this concert, it was awesome to see both Glass Tiger and Roxette! Both of these bands were great!!! I remember growing up with both of these bands, and finally being able to see them in concert was awesome. I loved the crazy guitarist from Roxette, he kinda reminded me of "Animal" off of the muppets! :) I also liked the fact that Glass Tiger brought awareness to a good cause and made it available at the concert to sponsor a child in need.

    Great show

by Disneyloo on 2012-09-15Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Fantastic show. Marie still looked amazing although somehow I expected her to look just as young which is ridiculous since the last time I saw Roxette live was in 1991. Sang all their old classics and took me back to being 11 again!

I saw Roxette when I was 13 years old and 20 years later they are back in Vancouver and it was wonderful. Glass Tiger was so much fun opening the show and Roxette hasn't lost that magic. Fantastic night!

Great concert by Glass Tiger and Roxette...definitely well worth the price. We had good seats and they were only $20 each. Wish all the concerts were this cheap!

    Blast from the past

by JenVic on 2012-09-14Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Seen lots of bands from the 80's this year and Roxette was no exception. The songs were good and Per (the guy) showed lots of enthusiasm and excitement while on stage, however Marie could have shown a little more interest while singing.

by ROXETTENUMBERONEFAN on 2012-09-14Rogers Arena - Vancouver

This concert was amazing! Glass Tiger and Roxette were both 80s bands but their style of music was so different it made for an amazing and varied concert. I hadn't heard many of the songs in 20 years and I still remember all the words!!

    Roxette was forgettable

    by myreview2 on 2012-09-14Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I would have preferred to have a full concert by Glass Tiger! Roxette was mediocre...her voice was rough in many songs, she didn't engage the crowd and her stage presence was lack lustre. Glass Tiger on the other hand was just as I remember them from years past....energetic, right on the mark with the songs! Alan Frew and the crew rocked!

Possibly best concert I've been to !!!!

by Splashmaster on 2012-09-14Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Glass Tiger sounded identical to what they did 20 years ago ! You could close your eyes and was as good as a radio version of their recorded best take ! Roxette still had the crowd on their feet the whole show and still incredible energy , although the male singer was off on many of the songs and female singer didn't attempt most of her high notes that she used to hit. Still would see them again tomorrow !!
