For as much as Sammy Rae & The Friends may be a band, this collective of dreamers and artists considers themselves a family first. Fronted by singer and songwriter Sammy Rae, the group flourishes in any spotlight with a combination of all-for-one and one-for-all camaraderie, palpable chemistry, deft virtuosity, and vocal fireworks. Their sound is a mélange of Sammy's influences, rooted in classic rock, folk, and funk and sprinkled with soul and jazz. 

Complete with a rhythm section, two saxophones, keyboards, and plenty of percussion, Sammy Rae & The Friends have delivered their high-energy, spirited and unrestrained shows to sold-out audiences around the US and Europe.  Their newest single, "Closer To You," arrives just as Sammy Rae & The Friends gear up for gigs this summer at SummerStage NYC and Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, with a world tour scheduled for Fall 2023.

    Honestly the most transcendent experience of my life

    Sammy Rae and the Friends perform with such openness, warmth, and confidence. I'm a fan of their music, but I wasn't prepared for how much more powerful it is to be in the room with them when they perform. Not every musician has that ability. A generational talent

    Sammy Rae & the Friends put on the most engaging and joyous shows ever. I wish they came to town every couple months to bring Vancouver together for an night to remember.

    The atmosphere Sammy Rae & the Friends create is so welcoming and high energy. We haven't been able to stop thinking about the concert since. For a first concert experience, it was impeccable!

    A great time with Friends

    Sammy and The Friends put on a he'll of a show. I really enjoyed the rearrangements of some songs and the stage presence of the band was off the charts. I really appreciated Sammy's candid positivity. The opening act, Fleece, was a pleasant surprise too. And of course the Commodore was just a perfect venue for it. I love the old art deco style and close-up feel.

    Good music, late start

    The opener didn’t start until an hour after the scheduled start time, which made the night a lot later than expected. It also forced us to leave the concert to move our car which was parked in a spot that expired at 10pm, and then return for the last few songs. Music and venue were good though.
