  • Santana Guitar Genius

by Deandog on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

All I can say is wow!!!! What an unforgetable concert. Still have songs playing through my head. This was my first time seeing Santana Live and would not hesitate to go again. Loved the show and the energy in the crowd. Was great to see everyone from all age genders out of their seat and dancing to the music. Some memorable moments were Maria Maria, and Black Magic Woman into Oye Como Va. Encore was also incredible. Thanks to the band and Carlos for providing an amazing evening out with my family.

  • Santana in need of a new sound engineer!

by Carlosfan on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

Beautiful evening, fantastic individual musicians, and a great band with a legendary leader, but unfortunately the lower end bass was badly distorting and giving feedback throughout the concert, which created a muffled droning sound to the band, with vocals that were virtually indecipherable, despite being plenty loud. This was really disappointing and hard on the ears!! We had great seats in the 200 level, but it was too bad the sound was so poor, and all the people I've talked to were of the same opinion.

  • What a night!

This was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The venue was great, the music was awesome, the experience was one to remember....definitely the total package! Steve Winwood as an opening act was awesome. He's one of the best musicians in the world so it was a pleasure to watch him perform. Santana was simply amazing. He really is a team player giving his entire band opportunities to do amazing solos. My favourite was definitely the drummer. He started slow but once he got into it...oh man, it was great. The singers were amazing too! I don't know who they are but they can bloody sing! And dear god, Santana was everything I expected him to be. He rocked and I hope he comes to Toronto again because I'd definitely go see it.

  • Santana delivers!

by Jewmaican on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first Santana Concert and I was looking forward to this for some time. Little to my surprise it was what I expected, pure gold! There are many Santana songs I would have loved to hear, however, there were enough great songs played to satisfy my soul :) Santana and crew were a great stage presence and I recommend getting out of your seat and dancing to the rhythmic sound waves of Carlos Santana. Adios

  • A great summer evening

by jdcan on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

A fabulous night for a concert. Steve Winwood (my 1st time) was right on the money. Lots of old songs from his Spencer Davis and BlindFaith days. Carlos never disappoints me. The band looked to the same one as last time and the percussion section is so tight. Great latin mix of songs and a few surprising ones like Cream's "sunshine of your love". Im always amased at the acoustic guitar and stand up bass stands that they use and just walk up to and play.

  • santana & steve winwood

The concert was awesome. Both performers were great. We were very annoyed because there was an East Indian festival at Ontario Place and it was very distracking as we were listening to Steve Winwood. Thank goodness they finished when Santana came on.

  • Super Santana

by Hammerfan on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Fantastic show with amazing lighting, great musicianship, beautiful video. Great effort to take a Las Vegas inspired show on the road. Combined oldies with recent hits, and a little strangely, a few songs that were not his. Considering the music he has featured over the years, it is a unique choice to perform a rock version of John Coltranes "A Love Supreme", but it worked. Two slow spots were a drum solo that went on way too long and Carlos Santanas preaching to the audience about how love will solve all the world's problems ... and by the way ... legalize marijuana. He's a great musician but a terrible politician.

  • The music was great

by MistyRocky on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Everything was great except Carlos spoke to long about love and peace, not sure how long he went on (not once but twice during the night) I was almost ready to go to sleep by then. When the music started again I woke up. A speaking break way that long slows the show down. People behind me were then heckling, "Carlos just play the guitar". I almost felt like I was at a religious event.

  • Santana delivers!

by santanafana on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Carlos pulled out all the stops July 11 at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre. From the moment the band took the stage, the whole place cooked to a mix of Latin rhythms, soaring guitar riffs and a seamless blend of old and new. From Black Magic Woman to Smooth and every classic in between (with a bit of Clapton's Cream days thrown in - just to show Eric up?), the unmistakeable style of Carlos Santana is, in a word, ageless. Adorned in his 1969 Woodstock Festival t-shirt, he led a band of musicians and vocalists like the understated guitar supremacist that he is. Each one of them is a virtuoso in his/her own right - even the drum solo (which I usually find to be typically self-indulgent) was unique and fascinating. Carlos, while a bit preachy, is still charming, soft-spoken and has a very positive message to deliver. He seems genuinely ecstatic to be up there experiencing the event with the audience, and the audience very much feels a part of it. If you have one chance to see Carlos Santana - grab it!

  • Santana!

by MrTr on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Carlos and company were in fine form again last night at the Molson Candian Amphitheatre. I swear sometimes it's like listening to a CD, that's how well rehearsed this band is. Of course it was nice to hear Steve Winwood again, too. Sounds like he's taken care of his voice and his abilities, but I took one star away because he spent too long jammin and also really messed up a couple songs. More practice needed, Steve.

  • Winwood Disappoints, Santana Skilled But Wandering

by ExperiencedConcertgoer on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

Steve Winwood has some truly great work - he should play it, with the appropriate musical support, and play true to the recording. He was immensely disappointing. Santana is supremely skilled, but needs also to most often stay true to the recordings. His consecutive songplaying is unnecessary, and now lacks appeal to his older following. Attendees were there to hear what they remember as amongst the all time best from both artists - they were treated to only limited delivery. I would not recommend, or reattend.

  • Dancing to Santana

by Rubyslipper on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What a spectacular night!! Steve Winwood was great to listen to but the real energy came with Carlos Santana and his band. They had us all on our feet and ready to party for the night. Probably one of the best concerts ever.

  • Awesome performance

Santana delivers. Great classic songs, some newer songs and a heavy cover of Sunshine of your Love.

  • Santana was the man

    by ccrocks2 on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Phenomenal musicianship, and the star played better than the band. The signs of aging didn't extend to his guitar... The collector's item t- shirt ( spelling Ottawa incorrectly ) will be a ebay item soon...

  • Santana was Amazing!!!!!!

That was the second time I have seen Santana. Both times I left feeling like it was the best show I have seen. I have been to over 500 concerts, from Ozzy, to Hedley, and Santana gets everyone up shakin there thing! I took my 17 year old daughter. She has been listening to them since she was born. She loved the show! His band has so many talented musicians, it was great to seen them play solos. The lead singers have such great voices. Another great evening at Ontario Place. I woulg go see them again , if they return.
