  • Sensational Santana & Steve Winwood

by Chickweed on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Great concert with the exception of some mistiming on breaks - felt a little too loose at times. Carlos was magical as always - lead singers fantastic - best band he has ever put together. I love you Carlos and the message you are trying to get out - but try to make it a little more succinct next time, less preachy!

I have always been a Santana fan, but this is the first live performance I have attended and I was totally blown away. He played all the old favorites as well as some new stuff and totally engaged the crowd. He is a true entertainer.

  • Santana at his best!

by NakedR on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Santana is one of those artists which I continue to see over and over again as he always provides a great mix of old and new songs - never the same way twice! He and his top notch band, again, did not dissapoint. It was difficult not getting up to dance to his highly motivating latin rythms driven through his fabulous drummer and two percussionists. As always, he does a great promotion for love and peace. I look forward to the next time.

  • Santana was terrific!!

This Santana show was amazing!!! The sound at the Amphitheatre was fabulous, nothing better than sitting outside on a gorgeous night listening to songs from your teenage years. Santana himself was wonderful, he's a very generous performer whose skills are unmatched. The fact that they played for about 3 hours is unheard of. Everyone was dancing, swaying in their seats or bobbing their heads. An all round excellent concert.

What an amazing show --- a band chock full of brilliant musicians each in their own right! Carlos could back off the talking a little though.

  • Santana Rocks with Steve Winwood Sucks

by teakstone on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The concert started with a mega ton burst of aura and charisma. The sound was clean, and the visuals were high tech with the content revolving around love, peace and harmony with other peoples. Carlos, wore his Woodstock T Shirt. He was in the grove, talking about peace, love and marilising leguana. The man is a true throw back to the 60s peace movement. His aged appearance makes him appear like a Sandanists. But his charatcter is closer to a Ghandi than to a George Bush, I am certain of that. This concert happened a few hours after Spain won the FIFA championship. Perhaps that put the Latino Band into a uber great mood. If you missed out onWoodstock, see Sanatana, I am certain this tour is better experience than just about anything Woodstock offered.

  • Santana rocks T.O.

by Jink on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Guitar great Carlos Santana had most of the crowd dancing in their seats. The back up band of 3 drummers, bass, horns, 2 singers, piano were spectacular! The sound was tight, the performances and solos awe inspiring. Funk, Latin grooves and some Hendrix thrown in for good measure. Fantastic evening and a show leaving you feeling uplifted and hopeful.

  • Amazing show

  • So Smooth....

    by Dewey22 on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What can I say? Santana is a classic. He plays that guitar like no one's business. Only complaint would be that he should have played more instrumental classics like Samba Pa Ti and Bella. That is all.

  • Santana Smooooth!

    by Peach27 on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

In the immortal words or Carlos Santana, "Open your heart and love someone, make them happy make them strong", somes up the theme of the night. He along with his abundantly tallented band turned a beautiful Toronto summer night into something very special. The last time I saw a band this tight was watching Frank Zappa at Maple Leaf Gardens in the early eighties. If someone is a fan of guitar and percussion this is a show that should not be missed.

  • Santana high energy with no "fluff"

by Envoyman on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The sound system did not do any justice for Steve Winwood and his band. It sounded very muddy to say the least. Steve and his band did a great job on their songs. The sound system was later adjusted satisfactorily for Mr Santana and his excellent band. They were very tight and did not hold back on their individual performances. The energy was very high and it was a pleasure to hear all the tunes like they should be heard! Talented and professional, both groups were worth the admission!

  • Santanta & Winwood both equally fantastic

    by Joey13 on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I attended the concert last night, as a gift from my sister and I to our mother for Mother's day. Our aunt came a well, so the 4 of us ranging in age from 46 to 71 headed down to the show late afternoon. Our mother enjoyed herself, as did I, even thinking that the concert was almost too long from all the songs played (which is a good thing). Steve Winwood was fantastic and really showed his talents, especially with "Dear Mr. Fantasy." Carlos was in high spirits and brought out his new fiance. You could tell he was in seventh heaven and his music showed that. The band was great, including the two lead singers, who I preferred harmonizing together rather than singing solo. Each artist in the band had their own solo, and I was equally impressed by all. Santana sure gets your body moving, but with the average crowd age, it was a mostly seated event, which was fine in the heat and for the length of the concert. Overall 5 star rating!

The concert was far too loud, distorting the sound to the point where we weren't able to enjoy ourselves. The Ontario Place parking lot was full but there were no signs or people to guide us to other parking...very disorganized.

  • Santana & Winwood were awesome!

    by wonderwoman1 on 2010-07-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Totally enjoyed the concert-great seats;great sound. I have never seen either act "live"-so this was a major thrill. Winwood's voice has never changed over the years-such a delight. Great band. Santana-wow -the energy! Incredible backup band-and Carlos Santana doesnt seem to have to "be the star"-no ego problems there. Audience responded with great enthusiasm-lots of dancing;clapping, etc. truly a memorable evening. Would I go to see these bands again? Absolutely.
