Garbage
by Grumpy on 2022-08-10Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5Long wait to get in - that is just a major event thing which you expect and bothered pretty much everyone else more than my son and me.
What did bother me was that I probably ingested more 2nd hand weed that night than I had in my whole 57 previous years - we have a problem Canada.....
Booked decent seats in 201 and staff were efficient enough in getting us there.
Fun to see EWandF still having a go and enjoying themselves.
'SANTANA' arrived on stage punctually (21:00). It was exactly 28 minutes before either my son or I saw the stage as we were sitting in the seats for which we had paid, behind a rows of middle aged, over-weight want-to-be session vocalists gyrating around like demented blancmanges. Finally, when the thrombosis overcame the geriatric wall of blubber before us, and they sat down, we realised that they had actually been shielding us from some seriously poor sound mixing, which was so rediculously over based it was physically uncomfortable.
It appeared to us that we were watching a pair of amateur street vocalists, who thought volume was an acceptable substitute for correct pitch, pronunciation, melody, being backed by a still tallented, but relegated, musical icon.
So, after about 4 minutes, the whale chorus staggered to their ulcerrated feet again and blocked out the stage for the rest of what we could stand of the performance. I tried to hold out for a full hour but, after 50 mins I suggested that we withdraw gracefully - my son had been ready for some time.
We exited the stadium amongst a sea of like-minded disappointees, relieved to return to our regular, unassisted breathing patterns.
This birthday present to my son was a disaster - just as well we practice low stress management of our lives and didn't let it get to us.
Last time for me at a "big name" concert .
