Santana was AMAZING! Earth Wind and Fire did not disapoint. In a word the experience was SPECTACULAR!!
Amazing performances by both Earth, Wind & Fire and Santana. This has long been my favourite venue to catch a show in Toronto due to the vibe, sound, backdrop of the city and open-air. The only reason I continue to refuse to give a show 5 stars at this location is the lack of gates for entry which cause significant delays in accessing the show. This time we missed nearly half of the opening act (Earth, Wind & Fire) even though we were in line at the gates 30 mins before they were scheduled to go on. Gotta figure that out as this is definitely not the first time this has been an issue and this venue has had nearly 3 decades to figure this out. I have been to many other venues with equal to larger capacity thresholds, and most of them have been significantly easier to access. I realize the proximately to the highway and water are issues, but there are options that could be considered to fix this problem.
The performance from both Santana and Earth, Wind and Fire was fantastic. The production and sound quality was great. The only problem was the way the concert was organized. We arrived 45 minutes early, which I have always done in the past, to find a huge cluster of people waiting to get past security. No one knew where to line up and just one person from Live Nation yelling at everyone not to cut the line. Really how hard would it have been to put up rope dividers to clearly establish lines? Then when we finaly joined a long winding crowd formed line, we had no idea if the people even knew where they were going. Once we got up to the stairs after a long wait then we notice a tiny sign saying that the security enterance was only for people with no bags, luckily we didn't have bags and that part was rather quick. But if they added that "the no bags line is faster" to the guy yelling "stop cutting in line" combined with clear roped off lines then the enterance would have been a whole lot more organized and enjoyable. My last problem was the way the setup the food and drinks. No surprise that the food and drinks were horrendously over priced but why were most of the food vendors not allowed to sell soft drinks or even water? They had a ton of alcohol vendors but not everyone drinks alcohol and since a lot of people drive to concerts, like I did, I couldn't drink alcohol. So why did I have to line up to pay a ton of money for food and then have to line up again to pay a ton of money for a soft drink?
The doors opened up so late that by time we got in they were on the last second song before Santana started … music was great 5/5 but venue is a 2/5. Also … why was I asked “ what’s your sign?” when showing my ID … date says it all but okk…
We arrived at the venue early, but still ended up having to line up for nearly an hour because of the backup at security. This was not entirely the venue's fault, as I could clearly see that people did not bother to check the restrictions on items being brought in prior to the show. We missed Earth, Wind and Fire's first 3 numbers because of this. However, what we did get to see was awesome, and we had an absolute blast!
2 of my favourite bands! Great energy! My only complaint. Very long lineup's getting in. We arrived 35 minutes before show started and missed the 1st song!!! Otherwise a great night!
Just simply put.. it was a fabulous evening of music ..good weather.. and good folks!
Carlos and his excellent group of musicians did not disappoint - as always they were right on! Playing a mix of oldies as well as some newer materials - every musical element was perfectly presented.
We really enjoyed the show from start to finish. Both been swell very different we’re both incredibly entertaining and the crowd reacted as such. Our only disappointment was trying to get into the Budweiser grounds as the line was huge and took forever to get in. They need more staff to accommodate the numbers.
I attended the Santana/EE&F concert at Budweiser on August 7. I took the 6 15 GO trains from Union and arrived at Exhibition stop at 6 22. Plenty of time, I believed, for 7 15 scheduled start. Not so With hundreds of others, I stood in line to gain entrance for over an hour. Finally entering the grounds at 7 30 and was very disappointed to discover that the show had already started - well before many patrons had gained access to the property, let alone been able to visit the food concessions or washrooms or finally getting to their seats I found the whole entry experience to be awful and very poorly managed. Santana was brilliant, especially the first 30 minutes of the show which featured so many classic hits. I could take or leave Earth, Wind & Fire since I have never been a huge fan. The Budweiser venue itself though leaves a lot to be desired. It has to be one of the worst venues in the world to get into it. I know someone who spent almost 2 hours trying to get in.
Satana is a great guitar player no doubt. But I was here for EWF, Santana gets old with all the instrumental and lack of hits.
The concerts were great but the venue was a nightmare. We got there well before doors opened at 6pm but Ontario Place did not have enough staff or systems in place to process the fans in a timely fashion. We stood in line for an hour from the go train platform, the line creeping along. We missed the first 25 minutes of the first act. This is the first time I have attended a concert at Budweiser Stage. I won’t be going to Budweiser Stage again which is a shame because it has good acts.
He was amazing! Absolutely killed it! Overall positive vibes and messaging and just shredded the guitar while doing so. Felt like I was in heaven.
The security and doors opened late which lead to me missing 40 min of the show! The doors open time was 6pm and it was advertised through email and on the official Budweiser stage Twitter page. I arrived right at 6pm and had to wait in line for over an hour and a half. It seemed like they opened the door at 7pm, but the show still started at 7:15pm. This resulted in me missing part of the Earth Wind and Fire performance which is the one I really wanted to see. There was no update as to what was happening so we were just stuck waiting in line. I would like an answer from the venue and Live Nation as to why this situation happened.
Santana played a mix of top ten hits, covers and lesser known songs. Each number was performed with incredible talent and energy. Cindy's two drum solos were amazing; she puts everything she has into her playing. Carlos' magic fingers made his guitars sing. The concert was well worth the two-year wait!
My husband and had the pleasure of seeing Earth, Wind, and Fire + Santana recently. We purchased lawn seats as we wanted a very casual, and relaxed experience, which turned out to be perfect! It was nostalgic to hear all the hits from EWF. It was impressive to see how they could all still hit the high notes! And their wardrobe was dazzling, as expected :) However, when Santana came on, there was not one person left sitting in the crowd. Their performance was so electric and magical, I had goosebumps all over! One of the highlights for me was Santana’s wife - Cindy Blackman. I was blown away by how talented she is and her solos are just mind blowing. I have such a huge respect for her!
Getting in Ontario place was the worst! The concert experience was amazing! We had a wonderful time and the bands put on a great show!! ☺️☺️
Santana Still performing at high level. Amazing band. Set was perfect as well as the solos in between. I have seen Santana at least 10-15times in last 30 years and he never disappoints. A+ class act!
Santana was unimaginably energetic, everything sounded surreal. The arena with open space suited this music perfectly. Earth Wind and Fire were wonderful as well, they made the crowd dance right from the start of the night. Amazing experience!
