It was amazing. By using gorgeous dress designed with absoloutly beautiful color make this event memorably. Moreover, using animation, which is background the scen , is genius work and help them to perform in best way. Last but not least, the music was amazing and completly matched with performers.

    Beyond Spectacular

by tasheco on 2016-04-24Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The show was so culturally spectacular. The costumes were colourful, flowing, well related to the culture that we see in our mind. It left us in awe, so worth the every moment. We hope to see the next years show, it would be worth it again. The work that goes into it is just beyond our thoughts, the places that dancers come from is amazing, world wide!!

A wonderful show! Will see it again for sure!

by MichelleGrant on 2016-04-14Sony Centre - Toronto

Everything in this show is amazing, including the costumes, the music, the choreography, and the backdrop! So enjoyable. It makes me feel like a queen. The dancers are very, very graceful and beautiful. They must have rehearsed numerous times to make sure that the music from the live symphony orchestra, the backdrop and the dancing are completely synchronized. In addition, the two emcees do a great job in introducing the programs. The show is a feast to the eye, the ear, and the soul. I would pay five times the money to see it. I never expected a show can be this beautiful and touching. It makes me feel happy, rejuvenated, and hopeful. Will see it again with my family this month!

Amazing performance with feeling of joy of life and joy to live. Perfect fusion of technique and emotion. Well orchestrated choreography integrated with the animated screen.

Beautiful colours, gorgeous dancing, and insight into Chinese culture. This year was my first Shen Yun and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole show. You can tell the dancers enjoy what they are doing. Fantastic show. Highly recommend.

    I was SO bored

by savethearts on 2015-01-31Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

What a terrible, disappointing show. It was like a bad talent show. Really dull dancing, too much verbal presentation between acts, HORRIBLE singing. Seriously, what a waste of time and money. It was a bad day for culture. There are way better things to see in Toronto. Do not bother.

Entertaining but left a bad taste

by Loopster on 2015-01-28Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I was really excited about this show. The way it was presented in the advertisement was a mix of acrobatics, dance, folklore and music. A spectacle. The dances were interesting and relatively well choreographed. The styles were visibly different, and the costumes were colourful and mesmerizing. The highlight of the night were all the scenarios and folk tales. The acting was well done and very interesting to follow. That's the good stuff. What made is super sour was all the religious propaganda. I really felt it was unnecessary to bring in something that doesn't fit the overall tone of the show in any way. It felt unwanted, forced and invasive. Even the singing parts were religious, as opposed to simply showcasing folk songs and vocal discipline. I did not mind the announcers between the scenes. I enjoyed the explanations and the whimsy humour. The music was relatively good, although at times it sounded really cheesy and way overdramatic. Overall, i don't think i would recommend the show. It felt sub-par and the propaganda piece pretty much ruined the experience.

Shen Yun was a let down

by Disappointed56 on 2015-01-28Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The dancing was adequate but obviously not rehearsed enough. Every dance was repetitive and lacked uniqueness. For the price of tickets this show is defiantly NOT worth seeing.

    Shen Yun was Spectacular!!!

by Kendor on 2015-01-27Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Shen Yun was the best show I have seen in a very long time. The dancers were elegant, graceful and hypnocitc, and their timing with the backgroung was flawless and something we have never seen before.. The colours of the costumes were vivid and added so much to the performance. We enjoyed the stories that were told through the dances and feel that we have learned a little more about Chinese Culture. We are looking forward to next year's performance.

    not what we expected...

by Juel on 2015-01-27Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Some what boring, felt very repetitive, slow and monotone. Didn't expect a narrator for each scene. However the dancers synchronicity was very good and the costumes where beautiful.

An overall amazing experience. I had seen the show for the first time about 2 years ago. The show just becomes more grande ever time I attend. This year I choose to share the event with my family. We were all overwhelmed by the brilliant colours, the highly talented dancer, and the profound story behind each performance.

We expected something more exciting. Also, they spoiled overall impression with last scene because they showed almost the same political show 2nd time.

    boring

by Nabavi on 2015-01-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I had seen your performance at previous years and liked it, So I invited my spouse to join me for this one, I am so sorry to tell you that, this year performance was so boring and repeated same movement on different color and custom . Interruption for announcing was awfully bad and doesn't let audience to watch constantly. Do you know if what my thousand said? he said " if I knew it is so boring I wouldn't come if it was even for free!" I didn't enjoy and sorry for wasting money and time and missed the other show that was performing same time

    Variety show

by Criticallyacclaimed on 2015-01-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I have great anticipation for the show when I bought the most expensive tickets. I was totally disappointed. the show can be classified as a Chinese acrobatic and variety show only. The performers did their job but the theme is ancient only good for first timer. the dresses are poor quality and they did not even try to act like a monkey or monk with no cosmetics on their faces. I am totally disppointed. It was a disaster. It probably worth $20 show tickets and I would never go back to see if it were free!!!!

    Too political and misleading

    by bigfoot2 on 2015-01-23Sony Centre - Toronto

The performance is average at best, and is definitely not "among the top in the world" as they claimed. Some of the dramas and solo singing were clearly promoting their "Falun Dafa" religion (which I found quite absurd after some research), while heavily attacking the Chinese communist government. Some of the info about the Chinese culture is inaccurate and misleading It is hard not to define this show as a sheer political weapon. Nevertheless, the music is rather good. However, the orchestra is predominantly composed of western instruments. The dances, while somewhat repetitive in style, are pretty entertaining to the eye. Overall, I would not say that the performance was worth the full ticket price.
