    Shinedown with Incura!

    by Jag12 on 2009-07-16Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Shinedown and Incura at the Commodore Ballroom was awesome. I've seen Incura a few times now and they never fail to amaze me! Shinedown on the other hand was my first time seeing them and they ROCKED! They had the entire crowd on their feet and jumping. It was definetly an awesome concert and I'd definetly recommend people check those 2 out any chance you get. The Commodore ballroom is a great venue and the accoustics are terrific.

    Shinedown - Loud... Fun... JUMP

by Zatherus on 2009-07-16MacEwan Hall - Calgary

The night began with some epic tunes from two opening acts, which turned out to be very good performers. The music played, beer was had, and many cheered on their favorite bands. Finally Shinedown appeared upon the stage. Their fingers strummed and voice boxes sang. It was time to rock. The music was awesome as I am a huge fan of Shinedown. Here is my issue and I apologize for the mini rant. Rock artists are awesome! I love them. However, whenever a concert occurs many bands feel the need to crack the volume to rediculously high volumes and drown out the singer. Yes, I realize it's a rock concert but that by no means should take away from the bands skill. At times the music is so loud you can barely hear the outstanding riffs that they wrote, let along the vocals. Here is my suggestion to all bands out there. Set the standards and drive forward better volume settings! We love your music. Let us hear it! To be fair, Shinedown knew exactly how to get the crowd going and were outstanding performers. My issue is less with Shinedown and more with ROck concerts in general.

Shinedown Kicked Butt at the Commodore

by MrSlurpee on 2009-07-15Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I checked out Shinedown at the Commodore alone on June 23. I obviously don't hang with the right crowd and couldn't find anyone to go with. I wasn't about to miss this band from Jacksonville, FLA and this was their first time in Vancouver. I've been listening to them for a few years now and anxiously awaited a tour stop. I was more than pleased with what I got. Opening bands Tupelo Honey were good and I would see them again and I found Incura exceeded my expectations on who they were. I knew one of their songs but their live performance was amazing. Tons of energy. Shinedown was great from start to finish. I'm a big fan so every and any song is good for my but the standouts were 45, Cyanide Suicide, Heroes, Save Me, Devour, Sound of Madness and Second Chance. They played solid and the sound was pretty good but I was right up front by the railing so it was all pretty loud to my old ears. The guitarist from Machinehead showed up for a song too - they were in town the following night with Megadeth and Slayer. One thing lead singer Brent Smith did a lot of was talk. He really wanted the audience to appreciate that they were at a Shinedown concert and not worry about anything else. He got us to shake our neighbours hands, he got us to sing loud and louder, he got us to jump up and down and go wild and he got us to forget what was going on outside the venue as that didn't matter anymore. While I enjoyed the crowd participation moments and the want to be close tot he crowd moments, I wanted more songs and more hard rock. I loved it though and look forward to seeing them again.

    Shinedown is amazing live!

by VelvetSmile on 2009-07-15MacEwan Hall - Calgary

Shinedown was kick ass. Brent Smith has the craziest voice - amazing on their CD and even better live. Only downer - they didn't play the 'Simple Man' cover. Other than that, great show. Would LOVE to see them again soon. If only them came to Canada more often!

    Disappointing

    by 604Tom on 2009-07-15Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

This is one of my favorite bands so it was disappointing to see them for the first time and the show sucks. He had voice problems I imagine because he just wasnt there that night. The band was awesome but singing a little off. I think the worst part of the show was the sound from the mixing booth? It was waaaaayyyy to loud and distorted, sounded terrible. The opening acts sounded great so why did shinedown suck? Too bad I hope they rock next time I see them. Opening acts were awesome...Tupelo Honey is a great band I think. I hope to see them again for sure.

    Disappointed

by KingDylan on 2009-07-15MacEwan Hall - Calgary

I'm a big fan of shinedown's albums But their live show left much to be desired... A total of around 9 songs, 2 extra long "attempting-to-be-profound" interludes and sub-par singing performances. I dunno what else to say without feeling like I'm wasting my time writing it down

    Great Show

by karlyanne on 2009-07-15MacEwan Hall - Calgary

I really enjoyed this show. It was worth seeing for sure. The only thing that I found a bit disappointing was the fact the lead singer would always be hanging out in the back ground or singing to the drummer or bass player. He didnt seem to into the audience at first. Towards the end it got better. But with that being said, it was still a great show. They have awesome music, and sound good live too. I would highly recommend others to go to a concert of theirs and I would definately go to another one if they come again.

    Sound great but...

by Katoo on 2009-07-15Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

They sound just like their records, but that's the problem. You go to a concert to hear something different, something you don't get from buying their album. I have to say it was cool with the guy from Motorhead or, but otherwise nothing extra special. Although, the commodore never disappoints.

Shinedown: A Rock Gig not to be missed

by Darryl on 2009-07-15Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Shinedown played at the Comodore Ballroom in Vancouver. A Great venue for any band to play at, not only because of the fact that it's in the heart of Vancouver. but also for the fact that the place is a club, which means great acoustics, drinks, great atmosphere and small, therefore intimate. Tupelo Honey opened for the band, and they were great, really getting the crowd revved up for the headliners, Shinedown. Shinedown made their presence known as they entered the room and started off with a bang. Next door to the Comodore was another gig, which held the legendary Tragically Hip, but you would have never known it when Shinedown took the stage to blow their fans away. They played almost all their singles, a bunch of stuff of their new cd and made everything sound a hell of a lot louder, heavier and really got the crowd into it, whether it was getting us all to sing along, jump up and down, or scream to make sure we were still alive, they played a brilliant gig, one not soon to be forgotten.
