I love to support the Shriners, I believe in the great work they do in and for our community. I felt sorry for the animals used in the performances, not because I believe they are abused, not in the least...but because, they were just sad animals....More acrobats, more action sequences need to be added, and leave the poor animals out of the circus....

Was great for the kids, loved the animals, wish there would have been more animals to see
Great experience
by Ernie on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5We had the best seats in the house. All of the action was right in front of our grandchildren and all the acts seemed to be facing in our direction. The French Clown was a very funny and kept the crowd in stitches in between acts.

As adult entertainment it was ok. But the 7 yr olds had a blast. For good, economical fun, you can't beat it. Although, the woman that entered the ball with the two motorcycles, has more guts that I have...lol
Memorable!!!
by excitedfamily on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5Amazing! Never a dull moment! Everything you want from a circus and more!
shrine circus
by Frano on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5I found it sort of boring, but the kids enjoyed it which was the main reason for going. When they had all three rings going it was impossible to see the performers in the end rings due to the lights shining in your eyes. If they could be lit from above it would be better.
Not worth the money
by Anna14 on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5Very lame for a so called circus. It had all the components but I think they forgot to practice along the way!
Shrine Circus
by Trampeze on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5The Shrine Circus was fun for my children age 7 and 11 years old. I suggest that the background music should be not so loud! At the end there were rides on the elephant and camels - we did not know this until the end of the show and we didn't know you had to purchase tickets. I missed the trampezes. There should be more clown acting between and during the shows while getting ready for the next performances.

circus fiasco
by trendychic on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5US adults had a good laugh at all the mis haps. the lion who didnt want to perform so they gave up on him lol. the buffalo they had runout on CONCRETE who was slipping and sliding everywhere. thank god he didnt break a leg. the camels who would not take orders from no one. the elephant who was clearly trying to tell the trainer he was not ready to perform. even i new he had to go bathroom and thats why whe could not perform so we waited like 5 min for him to pee and poo on stage lol. they had know control over any of the animals which proves 1. that they are wild animals. no broke well, and 2. that they did not want to be there. the motorcyle was having technical difficulties. and the lights shine in your eyes for the acrobatics. So there was something wrong with every single act. they just didnt have it together for a 2-3rd show. prices were not bad though
Shrine Circus should show all the crowd
by Scooby325 on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5We had great seats in section 101....BUT.....the centre stage performances only gave us their butt ends. If the main focus was the other-side.....then just sell tickets for those sections. It was a great outing & a wonderful cause. However, the exitement of the children was dimmed when the performers focused on the other side of the attendance. For the lion, we got to look at the cage & the monkeys sat with their backs to us. I know presentation couldn't be perfect for everyone's site.....BUT.....it definitely was noticed that we were on the wrong side of the audience.
The kids (aged 10, 3 and 10 mths) had a great time
by generic on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5The lineups after the circus for rides/slide were very long though.
What happened to going to the Circus?
by Lynnster1971 on 2011-03-14Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5As a child, I remember going to the circus was an exciting event followed by performances that surpassed all expectation. Animal acts consisted of 3, 4, or more lions (not one - and one that would rather nap than perform, I might add). The clowns took pride in their craft of entertaining the masses, not going through the motions with half-baked routines. Where was the trapeze? And the lady who stands on the pony's back while riding? I saw no tiger. And the bike race inside the death dome was marginally more entertaining than watching my hamster on its wheel. No one got shot out of a cannon, no one put their head in the lion's mouth, there were no snake charmers, or sword swallowers, or fire-eaters. If what the circus has become is what my family and I can expect from this point on, I'll save myself the $100+ ticket price and take them swimming instead. My daughter was nearly asleep before intermission, and was really only waiting for the elephant ride at the end of the show (the highlight of the entire outing). Gimme a break!
Shrine Circus
by ladyhawk007 on 2011-03-13Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5Animals were not cooperative, event was not well organized. After attending the same event a few shows later the difference was amazing. I recommend giving the animals more time to acclimatize and more time for the performers to prepare. The first show should be no different from the last show and the 2nd last show was much improved over the first.
Money lost :(
by Supermomness on 2011-03-13Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5The animals that were there were very poorly trained and you ended up feeling very badly for all the animals. For the amount of money I spent to take my family it certainly wasn't worth the effort. I couldn't even call this performance second rate...maybe third or forth but definitely not worth your time or money to see this. Go to a movie instead or visit the zoo, you will have more fun.
Shrine Circus
by Skunkfeet on 2011-03-13Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5This event was great. Nice to see all kinds of different animals and that they were being treated well. When the lion would not perform they did not bully him to make him perform they just let him do his thing. Nice to see such a great repore with the animals. Lots of diversity and prices were good. Went two years ago and our grandaughter wanted to go home at intermission. Not the case this year she loved it and so did our 3 year old grandson. Would definetely recommend this event and will attend next year.
Fun time
by Chyanne on 2011-03-13Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5I wish there would have been fire, and more lights, etc. But over all it was pretty good! I would definitely go again.
humane treatment of animals
by Monible on 2011-03-13Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5The circus was great. I LOVED the animal trainers and their obvious love and care for the animals. They did not force any of the animals to do what they did not want to do. When the lion was hesitant, they spoke gently to ease him to "work"... when they didn't do the tricks, they received love regardless of they lack of accomplishments!... Seeing this nurturing treatment of the animals warmed my heart and I left happy knowing that they were welll loved. The clown was funny. I wish there were more clowns.
could have been better
by samantha42 on 2010-07-24Miscellaneous Venues Outside Toronto - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5we have been attending the shriners circus for many years and i have to say that this year was very disappointing. in comparison to last years show this years was extreemly boring. not to mention that it felt like 120 degrees in the tent. too hot to enjoy the show because everyone was fanning themselves and leaving the tent. last years show was more entertaining. people want to see trapeze acts and elephants and horses.

The Shrine Circus needed more acrobatics and balancing acts rather than the animals. After seeing the elephants doing their routines, it really makes you think about the life they live. I feel it is horrible and cruel how they are treated and would never support a circus with jungle animals in it again. The dogs were cute and I agree with training dogs because they are supposed to be cared for and trained by an owner. The elephants should be kept in the jungle where they belong!
