Sigur Rós on Tour

In 2022, Sigur Rós announced the opening dates of their first world tour in five years and hinted at the new album they've been silently working on in the studio -- the first of their albums to be released since 2013's Kveikur. The forthcoming record was quickly hailed as one of the most anticipated releases of the year, with an international community of fans always eager to hear what the experimental ensemble comes up with next. They say good things come to those who wait. And nearly a decade since their last album dropped, Sigur Rós is sure to deliver a live show that exceeds all expectations, airing never-before-heard songs alongside material drawn from their acclaimed 25-year discography. Wherever they play, the Reykjavík, Iceland, natives transcend language through their music. They make songs for which there are no words but rather an evocation of deep feeling, inspiration and delight. Wherever you catch Sigur Rós on tour -- Australia, Mexico, the United States, or anywhere else -- it makes no difference what language you speak or whether you can understand Jónsi's melodic, Icelandic lyrics. In fact, all the songs off their Grammy-nominated 2002 album ( ) were sung in a made-up language, leaving listeners to interpret their own meaning of the title-less songs that they could then transcribe in the blank pages of the album booklet. To appreciate all their music achieves, watch Sigur Rós in concert and experience artistry unlike any other.

Sigur Rós Live in Concert

Sigur Rós is an experimental post-rock band from Iceland with six No. 1 albums and three platinum records to their name. The trio -- comprised of frontman Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson -- has remained at the forefront of the international music scene since the band's 1994 conception. Sigur Rós became one of the most celebrated alternative groups throughout the years, praised for consistently breaking ground with their ethereal and orchestral production. It's this atmospheric sound that Sigur Rós is best known for, along with Jónsi's siren-like falsettos that resonate with a celestial lullaby. The progressive outfit's 1999 breakout album, Ágætis Byrjun, received the inaugural Shortlist Music Award, a prestigious prize created to recognize independent releases. They went on to produce a prodigious volume of work, releasing a total of 10 albums and 12 EPs within a span of 20 years. Their No. 1 chart-topper "Glósóli" and signature track "Hoppípolla" appeared in the 2005 film Takk, winning a trio of Icelandic Music Awards. Sigur Rós has also won three MTV Europe Music Awards and in 2004 received their first Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album for ( ).

    Sigur Rós was absolutely amazing!

by Macphisto on 2013-04-01Air Canada Centre - Toronto

This has to be one of the best shows I have ever seen. The marriage of the excellent music with the lighting and the visuals was stunning! The band was amazing; Jonsi, Goggi, and Orri (as well as the rest of the band) are not to be missed! I am looking forward to the next time they are in town...

It was a magical experience. ACC never sounded that good according to my memory. His beauty reaches so far beyond my words I could only vaporize as your voice flutters through the frosted sky like a wounded bird.

    Great show!

by Timbit2 on 2013-04-01Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The show was great! I loved how they used many different instruments such as violins, trumpets and bells to add to their overall sound. Mixing was very well done also, music and voices were both equalized well. Great visual effects as well. Only wish that they did more songs. I feel they could have done 1 or 2 more. Overall great!

    Out of planet Earth!

by adita73 on 2013-04-01Air Canada Centre - Toronto

So glad I got the chance to see this! The live concert doesn't compare to anything recorded. The set up, atmophere, light and the screen projections were very good, all together a great visual and audio experience.

If you missed this night, you missed out!

by tyrannosaur on 2012-09-06Echo Beach - Toronto

Needless to say, echo beach was probably the most perfect location for these guys to play. They started their set with the last bit of sun going down behind the crowd. They played incredibly and even apologized for any blunders or awkwardness's due to them not playing together for 4 years (live). I was in tears. Perfect way to spend an evening with a couple great friends.

Sigur Ros - I have died and gone to Heaven

by KatMacJones on 2012-08-08Echo Beach powered by Rogers - Toronto

Imagine a band from Iceland coming to Toronto so I could see them. When I first discovered this band, I never thought I would have the opportunity to see them live. It was awesome!!! I guess the only thing I didn't like about the evening was the venue itself - guys, if you buy a concert ticket to see a show, WATCH THE SHOW???!!! Or am I confused - a concert at Echo Park is an opportunity for concert go-ers to walk around all night and drink beer? And when is Toronto adopting the no-smoking ban? Because 2nd hand smoke is a real turn off, offensive, annoying and harmful to my health.

    At a loss for words

by Flicky on 2012-08-07Echo Beach powered by Rogers - Toronto

The whole night from top to bottom was magical. Such a dynamic performance and an unforgettable experience. The crowd was quiet and respectful (although i would have liked a little more energy). It was my first concert experience ever and what a concert it was. I was livid for days after because each song they played was ingrained in my head. Hope this isn't the last time I will see them in concert!! Much love
