  • SYTYCD - Suprisingly WOWs you!

by Zastigfish on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I just attended the So You Think You Can Dance 2009 Tour show. I admit that I went in with trepidation wondering what I had gotten myself into and if I was going to be stuck with an evening of High School Musical like entertainment (sorry to you HSM fans out there). Some of the dialogue and deliveries were skewed towards a younger demographic, but the banter was actually quite fun and the transitions were slick to keep everyone entertained and engaged. And of course the main reason why someone would attend a show like this was the DANCING. It was astounding and the skill and energy was completely a pleasant surprise. If I was lukewarm to start off with, I was fully into it by the 2nd or 3rd number. The skill level and the energy was incredible and these kids can dance! Anyone that was there did not leave disappointed at all. The preformances were identical to the show so not any longer than what any of us would have seen during the TV season. But to experience it live and to see the control, the power, the grace and the finesse was really something to behold. If you love dance I would highly recommend seeing this show when it comes around again. If you are skeptical but adventurous I would encourage you to think out of the box and experience it. It is a fun and entertaining show and you will see and feel the beauty and power of dance.

THis tour was fabulous from the moment it started until the end. Never was there a dull moment. I absolutely loved the way they played some humour through out. I would definately say that I would do it again!!!

  • Great Show!

by ptrhansen on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Dancers put on a great show! It wasn't just a live version of the show, it was some of the best dances from season 5 but there was some great humor when the dancers talked up the next dance that was going to be performed. The running jokes about the Russian folk dance were very funny.

  • Outstanding performance

by danceFanatic on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What an incredible show. High energy and lots of fun. I went with 5 great friends, whom all have a dance background. From the moment the lights went down, to the very end of the performance, we were cheering from our seats. We got even more excited as each performance came on because we remembered watching those performances on TV and remembered just how much we loved them then, and could not believe that we were watching them live. EXCELLENT time had by all. If you have never been to a So You Think You Can Dance event, I totally recommend it, and if you have been, then you need no explanation.

  • So You Think You Can Dance AMAZING

    by Ambie67 on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The most amazing show I've seen in a very very long time. It was entertaining, it was happy, there was sad and there was just sheer overwhelming joy to watch the dancers. I absolutely loved it!!

  • SYTYCD!! WOW!

Just loved it! It's just great to watch all the dances live!

  • Amazing dancers!

by Tapper on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was a wonderful show. It moved along quickly and smoothly. Seeing the dancers live is so much better than seeing them on television. The backdrops add to the mood and excitement of the dances. It would be nice if there were more new dances, the solos were longer (and all a consistent length) though.

  • What A Night

    by Dancer15 on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I LOVED it!!!! The dancers are amazing. You can tell they work so hard to put on a good show and that they love what they do. The show was AWESOME!!!

  • SYTYCD was spectacular!!

    by Jessica84 on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

SYTYCD on tour was a spectacular performance. All the dancers were amazing and seeing some of my favourite dances from the season performed live made me love them even more then i did before. Philip and Jeanine stole the show entertainment wise when they did the Russian Folk dance multiply times, it was very entertaining. Philips solo was also just fantastic and he deserved the standing ovation that he recieved. This is the 4th tour I have been too for SYTYCD and it just gets better every year. Overall I think this was a fabulous performance and I would highly recommend it for others to see if you love dance or you just love entertainment or the show.

  • SYTYCD Was SO Much More Impressive Live!

by Vossle on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Despite cheesy somewhat forced and scripted openings to each dance and an initial fear that the show was actually just going to be a big screen viewing of an old episode the overall show was a blast. The dancing was UNREAL. So much more impressive live. We were able to really appreciate the true talent and skill that each dancer had.

  • SYTYCD Rocks Again!!

My daughter and I have never missed a Tour and they keep exceeding the previous one in show quality. The dancers are ALWAYS FABULOUS!

  • Not enough dancing!

by NicNac on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Make no mistake, the dancing was fantastic. However the show was too scripted and had WAY too many videotaped pieces. It would have been nice if the 30 second solo spots were longer and the video leading up to each spot was shorter after all, we are paying to see them DANCE not hear Kat and Nigel talk and talk and talk. The dancers were as great in person as on TV, some even better. Phillip and Ade are definitely the crowd favorites for good reason. Ade and Brandon confirmed that they should have been the top 2. Phillip was spectacular and he, Brandon and Ade were the crowd favorites. To sum it up, GREAT dancing, not enough dancing, way too much video, horrible sound system.

  • An amazing show!

by SamuelG on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I was truly taken by the talents and enthusiasm of the performers.....they were sooooo polished you would never know that most are new at their trade! I enjoyed the sense of humour portrayed with the Russian Folk Dancing theme as well as Kapono's Fitness Sketch parody. I was moved by the standing ovation given Phillip after his "elasticity" solo, particularly enjoyed Jason and Caitlin's Bollywood routine, and developed an appreciation for Evan and Janine's performing talents which I had not fostered during the actual competition. and ........Brandon and Kayla.......you both ROCK!!.....both your physical beauties are breathtaking!!!......such a treat to see you perform live! I forgive the producers for 1) using "time fillers" to help with the costume changes before group routines which oftentimes brought the show's electricity and tempo down a bit, and 2) I realize that the solos were all from the original performances during the competition, but for a production like this I believe the shortness of those routines detracts from their beauty and the audience is not satiated as a result of their brevity!!

If you love dancing then you would love the So you think you can dance tour. It was really awsome. The dancing and all the comedy bits thrown in between the numbers really made it a great evening. I'll be going back again next year!

  • Powerful Performance

by shesamystery on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I absolutely loved the show. The top 10 are truly amazing dancers and to see them live was almost breathtaking. However, my favorite part of the show was Phillipe!! I am so thankful that he and Kaitlin were along for the tour, Phillipe had the loudest applause of anyone there! I was also shocked to see the Canadian Top 10 from this season there, it was such a treat!

  • it was awsome

totally enjoyable family fun. Great performances. Nice to see some of the older routines. Unfortunate there was not much original material or new routines not seen on the show

  • SYTYCD tour- incredible, enjoyable, unforgettable

by JEANINErocks on 2009-09-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I'm so happy I went! As soon as I heard Cat Dealey announce that tour tickets were on sale I went to the SYTYCD website and purchased tickets. There was no host, so the finalists themselves introduced each other. They made it more of a "show" in the sense that it wasn't just dances, they added in SYTYCD memorable moments. They performed many of the top dances of this season, and even had a couple of new dances. Overall this show was very enjoyable and I strongly recommend it.
