    Spiderman was Fantastic!

by Neat on 2012-07-16Foxwoods Theatre - New York

Great show, quite long (which was good bang for your buck)...great theatrics, fantastic music, nice venue....only unfortunate (which I knew before going) was not being able to see spiderman when he swings to the flying circle...Otherwise perfect! Fantastic and talented group of performers and musicians!

    Spiderman Turn off the Dark

by broadwaywannabe on 2012-07-05Foxwoods Theatre - New York

The first half was a little slow, but second half made up for it. Amazing Spidey succeeds again. Loved the energy of the second half. I got some discount tickets, so the show was well worth the money.

Flying zone well worth it.. but not on a matinee!

by BrookeL on 2012-07-02Foxwoods Theatre - New York

The show is very entertaining and my seats were great -- expect for the fact I was surrounded by a group of school kids many of whom (and their chaperones) were acting like they were in a movie. Coming in (20+) about 15 mins late, talking, checking their phones, walking in and about. Fortunately the bulk of them settled, but about a dozen continued to come and go throughout the show. The technical aspects of the show and the actors were great....so very happy that I went!!!

    Flying great - Music OK

by dmanfrmsmithers on 2012-06-19Foxwoods Theatre - New York

I enjoyed the show overall. Loved the action that goes into the crowd and above. I wasn't too thrilled about the music (lyrics and quality of sound). Enjoyed it otherwise.

    Thoroughly entertaining

The aerial stunts were spectacular. The emergence of the Green Goblin was the highlight of the show for me

    Spider-man + Bono = awesome!

by gilliaga on 2012-06-11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

This was a great show! Let's face it, it's a superhero musical. There's bound to be a certain cheese-factor to it. However, the stuff that was amazing was REALLY FRICKIN' AMAZING! Spider-man and his cohorts swing across stage and out over the audience during the fight scenes, and the dexterity of the actors is astounding. Because some of the action takes place overhead, try for a balcony seat or in the front orchestra area....we sat in the back orchestra and couldn't see bits and pieces. Overall, we had a great time and were super glad we made this a stop in our visit to New York.

    Great show for spider-man fans

by theghost on 2012-04-24Foxwoods Theatre - New York

Good for the whole family, the spider-man stunts were fantastic and the costumes and sets were awesome. I think you have to be a U2 fan for the music. The singing was good but not great. I had a coupon code for discounted tickets. I would not have wanted to pay full price.

    Bad Play, Fun to Watch

by JaysFan on 2012-04-23Foxwoods Theatre - New York

Bono and Edge mailed it in. It all sounded like various versions of "Where The Streets Have No Names." The score was utterly forgettable and at times laughable. The first Act is brutal with some amazing visual effects thrown in. The staging is what this show is all about. It is beautiful to watch. The second Act is better mostly because of the rise and fall of the Green Goblin. The actor who portrayed him was quite good. Bottom line. Don't go.

    nice show, but

by zeca on 2012-04-10Foxwoods Theatre - New York

It is a nice entertaining show, with nice stage special effects. It re-creates, on the stage, the atmosphere of comic books. But, for me, although not for what seemed to be most of the public, it lacked the WOW factor. The music, coming from Bono and the Edge, was a bit a disappointment. In some of the themes one could identify the authors, but in others they were just plain musical Broadway style. My expectations were probably too high, though. The acting was OK, although the roles, text and production did not leave that much space for brilliance in acting. The whole show is geared towards the staging and the special effects. As such, one can say that its (the production's) ambitions were full filled. Bottom line, good for some fun, if you don't have to pay premium prices.

    Found last minute seats

by Largeman on 2012-04-09Foxwoods Theatre - New York

We checked online to see if there were any tickets available, we wound up somehow with 4th row and I have to say in years of doing entertainment reviews I was jaw dropped by the spectacle that is Spiderman. The stunts and The production were mind lowing. Worth every single penny and would Do it again In a new York minute

    A real spectacle!

by SuzBorg on 2012-03-12Foxwoods Theatre - New York

Good music - obviously written by Bono. Acrobatics were awesome. Loved the "comic book" scenery. Huge, moving "TV" Screens onstage showing backgrounds and closeups of characters very effective. Didn't have kids with me, but thought that is would be a little too intense for anyone under 7 or 8. Flying Circle seats meant a great view of Spiderman flying around in front of me but NOT above me like the seats on the floor.

    Spidey conquers all!

by kayakgal on 2012-03-06Foxwoods Theatre - New York

I went to see Spiderman with some reservation but was sold on it with the opening act. The sets, costuming and theatrics are incredible. I love Julie Taymor's contributions to this production-the evil ones are so "evil" thanks to her great mask work. The way the set moves and transforms is unique and effective in every way. I loved being tricked into thinking I was on top of (or on the side of) a building. I would be hesitant to take a young child or one who might be subject to night terrors as there are some particularly deliciously evil scenes in this show. Congratulations for achieving the whole comic book feel to the show! LOVED it.

    Spiderman- A Spidy-sense overload!

by moviekid on 2012-02-21Foxwoods Theatre - New York

With all of the press surrounding this show, it's no surprise to see that it's been attracting crowds. The fan boys, the Broadway goers, tourists, and people who can't turn away from a train wreak. I feel like I am a bit of everything I mentioned above- so when I saw this, I have to say I was totally impressed. The story is pretty typical. The music, written by our U2 friends, was surprisingly very forgettable (not bad, just nothing that sticks out). The acting was generally pretty okay. The sets. The costumes. The stunts. It was like seeing a comic book come alive. Some truly unique choices made, which I thought worked out pretty well. There were things that I have never seen before with live theatre, and doubt I will anytime in the near future. There's an entire fight scene that takes place above the crowd! Ah! And it wasn't like a few moments here or there- it's the smart use of video, the extra detail on costume, and the strange yet effective mythology that is interlaced that makes this work. The stunts have gotten a lot of attention, but to me it was the set that really impressed me. I hope this show plays on for years on Broadway. It is after all the AMAZING Spiderman!

    Spiderman @ Foxwwods

I like the spectal and found the singing and music good. I was disapointed with the lead, just didn't have the voice to carry the show.

Spiderman, Turn out the Lights, the party is over.

by Canadiancouple on 2012-02-05Foxwoods Theatre - New York

I honestly can't describe how disappointed we were in this production. Yes, some of the high flying acrobatics were impressive, but the story line was juvenile, Bono's lyrics were shockingly juvenile, and we really had to debate at the intermission as to whether or not we were going to stay for the second half. Unfortunately we did, the highlight of which was a gigantic dragon 'pool toy' running around the stage. To add to the let down, our tickets were over $200 dollars each. It might have been the worst thing I have even seen on broadway. The next night, we went to see "Memphis". So here's a suggestion for 'Spidey'..why don't you go across the road and watch "Memphis"...now THAT' S a musical! ( at just over half the price..)

    What a visual display !!!

by Broadway88 on 2012-01-30Foxwoods Theatre - New York

Spiderman-Turn Off the Dark is visually amazing. The sets, costumes, lighting , acrobatics and aerial stunts are amazing. Watching Spiderman swing and fly through the theatre, leaping from the stage to the mezzanine and the balcony is awe inspiring and you can understand how some of the actors were injured in the show when it first opened up. All the feature roles were well depicted especially if you grew up reading the Spiderman comics. But the role of the Green Goblin played by Patrick Paige was definitely my role of choice-his voice was captivating. The downfall of this show is the songs....you don't leave humming any tunes. To have an amazing musician like Bono write the music leaves you asking what happen? Is it worth seeing despite the music.....a resounding "yes".

U2 meets Broadway meets Spider-Man. A successful recipe for pure entertainment. Thank you, Bono and the Edge, for plugging along and keeping at it until now. I had a great time. So did my wife, my cousin and his wife. I loved Matthew James Thomas. He was the perfectly tortured Spider-Man. What a performance. Get him his own show! The Daily Bugle scenes are very funny, and teh Green Goblin shows a nasty sense of humour.
