About

Stone Temple Pilots in Concert

With over 70 million albums sold, Stone Temple Pilots roared on to the scene in 1992 with their raucous debut, Core. A breakout success, the album peaked #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, and dominated radio waves with hits like "Sex Type Thing," "Wicked Garden," and the Grammy-Award winning smash single, "Plush." STP quickly distinguished themselves as a band beholden to no trend. Boasting the inimitable riffs of guitarist Dean DeLeo, the propulsive rhythm section of bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz, and the charismatic baritone of frontman Scott Weiland, STP ruled airways, video playlists and charts alike over their legendary career. The band released their seventh studio album, Stone Temple Pilots (2018), their first with new lead singer, Jeff Gutt. The debut single "Meadow" from the self-titled album, channels the gritty guitars and swaggering rhythms that STP is known for, and reached top 5 at rock radio. All Music Guide states, "They haven't lost their knack for hook-heavy hard rock that wedges its way into the subconscious."

  • Great show❗️

by Clubber on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

STP sounded fantastic! Jeff Gutt, while not Scott Weiland, has similar vocal stylings. Kowalczyk’s voice is as powerful as it was 30 years ago when Throwing Cooper was released. Budweiser Stage as a venue never disappoints. See you next year!

  • Surprised and Satisfied

by Mavis on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I was worried because it had been raining and wet all week leading up to the show and I had tickets for the lawn. I was afraid of finding a squishy, muddy mess and needing to stand all night. I was very surprised and impressed to discover that the venue staff had prepared the lawn by not only roping off a really yucky area but actually laying mulch to combat any mudpuddles. It worked and a pleasant evening was had. Similarly, I was very happy to see the big EAR PLUGS HERE booth on your way into the amphitheater; this seemed very responsible. The ladies' room in the back lawn was in a reasonably-clean state for most of the evening; however, my sweetie reported the men's room was disgusting on all fronts. I had a lot of fun with Soul Asylum & Live. STP wasn't my favourite.

  • Pleasantly shocked!

I didn't know what to expect. Surprised at how new lead did justice to memory of old,it was heartbreaking. I know every song, best was old bandmate, Rainn Wilson (lead Our Lady Of Peace), wild! LIVE was great! Danced and sang all night!

  • Great show.Always.

  • AWESOME!

    by How-is-it-2024? on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Soul Asylum, Live, and the STP all rocked the house down! Incredible set lists, stage presence, guests...the whole package was incredible! Was I tired at work on Monday? Hell yes! Would I go to a concert like this AGAIN on a Sunday? Hell yes! The original band members who have passed away are definitely missed but the show did go on and I think they watched and saw that, yup, kicking a** is still taking place. The venue is fantastic too: awesome acoustics, the skyline and sunset...amazing spot. My only complaint: prices at concessions. I could almost...almost justify $4 for a can of Coke and $8 for a hotdog but $15 (plus tip?) for an alcoholic beverage? Incredibly lots of folks seemed to be imbibing though so maybe I'm just cheap? I did drop the $60 for a STP concert t-shirt, and my daughter that I went with was super happy to leave wearing that. Oh, and to the stoned guy who asked me if I have a horse and carriage....it's still a no. 😉

  • Great Show Great Venue

by Show Goer on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Try to see STP once a year when they come to the area. Saw them inside at Centre in The Square last time and they rocked… This all star cast did not disappoint! Soul Asylum opened and they weren’t bad. I only knew afew of their songs, but they did well. Live…. Man-oh-man, I could’ve closed my eyes and thought I was listening to them 30 years ago. They hit every note and didn’t skip a beat. STP closed out an incredible night and the only complaint I could possibly have is that they didn’t play long enough. So many bangers didn’t get played, but every song they did was incredible. They still rock, even without Scott. I’m a big fan of Bud Stage, I’ve seen over 30 shows there and this year, the shows I’ve seen- the sound hasn’t been better. Weather was perfect and seats were epic. This show was worth the money, it didn’t look like a sell out, and that’s too bad. If you didn’t go and were thinking about it, you missed out!

  • Great STP Show

by Bramptonian on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Great concert- STP put on a great show, even without Scott Weiland. I liked these guys back in the day, and they've still got it today. Enjoyed Soul Asylum as well, along with Live. To be honest however, it felt like Live's set was far too long and so STP came on later that I'd have liked. Otherwise, nicely done!

  • Fantastic

by Patti on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

STP put on a fantastic show. They did almost all of the song off their album Purple. It was a great rock concert.

Wasn't sure what to expect from STP without Scott Weiland but it turned out to be a fun night. Jeff Gutt is a worthy successor and he made it a fun evening. The band was great and Jeff performed all the STP classics in a perfect homage to the amazing Scott Weiland RIP. Glad I attended this show.

  • Best concert!

    by Leticia A on 2024-09-11Rating: 5 out of 5

I've seen STP many times and the show is always amazing! The best rock n roll energy you can have! Whenever I can I will watch STP. Love them! 💜

  • Great venue, Awesome concert

by Melly Mel on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Loved it. Vibe was awesome, weather was great. Soul Asylum was fantastic, Live the Band was a nostalgia storm and STP did Scott’s early legacy proud.

  • Still great

by JasonS on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

STP is still a great band. Took some time to adapt to new singer, but he's good. Loved that they played songs from Purple, their best album. The Ontario Place venue is terrible however, no parking, and a 1 hour traffic jam coming out of the venue. It's a Toronto thing, they really need to do something about it.

  • Amazing time

by Tricia Donnelly on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

We took our 16 year old daughter. We all had an awesome time. All groups were amazing. It was our first time there and we will go again for sure

  • Love the venue, security guard not so much

by Quincy on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I go to budweiser stage 5 or 6 times a summer as love the venue. Usually the experience is top notch. Last week, at STP, left my seats in 200 for washroom and when I came back the security guard wanted tickets to get back to my seat. There was 2 songs left in the show and he stated he never saw me leave. I assume there may over 1000 people that he didn't see leave. Waisted my time ro get the phone out, login, etc. Many people went walking by and ge didn't inquire with anyone else. Very fustrating.

  • Awesome Bands, Terrible Sound Engineering

by Music Man on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

All three bands rocked an incredible line-up of songs. Sound engineering was terrible - bass from the drums completely drowned out the vocals making it almost impossible to hear. We could feel the bass in our chests and it was uncomfortable. We had great seats (6th row) to see an awesome show but it was spoiled by the terrible sound engineering. We've been to Budweiser Stage multiple times to enjoy a wide variety of musicians and this problem exists for all genres of music. We have no problem with a show cranking the volume to 10 but it needs to sound good. Its time to upgrade the sound system and improve engineering for a better the experience. Great show by all the artists, spoiled by the sound experience.

  • Great, but not the greatest

    by JDou13le on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The only thing about the venue is the sound. Some notes and/or levels of volume make the sound a little distorted. And that’s with all concerts there

  • Big Bang Baby

    by David G on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Stone Temple Pilots have an incredible catalog of songs. 16 top ten singles on the Billboard rock charts, eight of which peaked at No. 1, and one No. 1 album for Purple in 1994. One of the best live performances I've seen in years.

  • Still one of the absolute hands down best love bands

    by 3lvis on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing band, they are absolutely incredible and the singer has found a way to honour Scott but still be his own man, loves the show, best of the year for me!!! Dean is a guitar master!!

  • Entertaining & Punctial

    by Grace K. on 2024-09-11Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I haven't been to a concert in years but when I saw STP touring with Soul Asylum I couldn't say no. I was a massive fan of both bands in the 90s and SA's Let Your Dim Light Shine was an album I listened to non-stop as a young teen. The show was insanely punctual (started at 7pm and ended at 11pm on the dot) and the transitions between bands was quick. While I was never a huge Live fan I have to say they sounded great. Everyone sounded great, honestly. All three bands played the songs I wanted to hear. There were tons of people at the show but it was a mature, subdued crowd without anyone acting a fool (that I could see). Zero complaints! So glad I went. If you were a fan of any of these bands in the 90s I'd recommend it 100%.

  • Amazing concert

I saw the original band live many years ago and the current iteration of STP is just as good.
