STP was awesome as usual.

Stone Temple Pilots in Concert
With over 70 million albums sold, Stone Temple Pilots roared on to the scene in 1992 with their raucous debut, Core. A breakout success, the album peaked #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, and dominated radio waves with hits like "Sex Type Thing," "Wicked Garden," and the Grammy-Award winning smash single, "Plush." STP quickly distinguished themselves as a band beholden to no trend. Boasting the inimitable riffs of guitarist Dean DeLeo, the propulsive rhythm section of bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz, and the charismatic baritone of frontman Scott Weiland, STP ruled airways, video playlists and charts alike over their legendary career. The band released their seventh studio album, Stone Temple Pilots (2018), their first with new lead singer, Jeff Gutt. The debut single "Meadow" from the self-titled album, channels the gritty guitars and swaggering rhythms that STP is known for, and reached top 5 at rock radio. All Music Guide states, "They haven't lost their knack for hook-heavy hard rock that wedges its way into the subconscious."
The songs were performed excellently and Scott was just as entertaining with his movements and groove when he wasn't singing as he was with the mic at his mouth.
Went to the concert in Calgary on Sept 11/12 and was unsure about how it would be because of the bad reviews/press. I walked out of there totally impressed and reminded why I love these guys. The show was excellent, Scott was in top form and the boys actually looked like they were having fun, smiling and laughing near the end. The setlist was great, sure, I would have liked to hear a few more songs, but they'd be up there all night if I had my way! Would I go again, IN A HEARTBEAT! I hope they come back again soon!
They played most of their best songs, but for some reason have "slowed down" some of their more rocking tunes almost like an "unplugged" yet still plugged version. It is all good, I have mellowed with age as well but I prefer to rock my ass off when I go to concerts :)
excellent show, small, interactive, great sound, Id go again and again
First of all, the best thing leading up to this show is that they changed venues. Initially it was supposed to be at the Convention Centre, which is, by far, the worst of any concert venue in Winnipeg, but they changed it to the Burt, which was a great move. Secondly, the fact that this tour was touted as the "20th anniversary of Core," with band interviews promising to play the Core album in its entirety, got all us early 90's fans completely hyped to shell out 70 bucks, knowing it would be worthwhile, only to be disappointed with the fact that, not only was the whole Core album NOT played, (only 4 songs off the album were actually played) but especially the fact that 3 of the biggest hits from Core - Dead and Bloated, Wicked Garden, and Creep, were completely left off the set. That being said, what was played, essentially a "greatest hits" kind-of set list, was absolutely amazing! This was my third time seeing STP, and the first two times were awesome, but this time, I don't think Scott Weiland could have sounded any better! His vocals were remarkable, he showed tons of energy moving all over the stage, he really demonstrated his range throughout the whole show, and was genuinely appreciative of the fans for coming out to see them. Musically wise, the DeLeo brothers and Eric were absolutely awesome, with Robert addressing and thanking the crowd a couple times. The extra song intro's and "jam sessions" added a little extra flavour to the show, although I think they were added in because earlier reviews of this tour had many people not happy with how short the original set was. Also, a fairly simple, but highly effective light show added to the entire ambiance (especially on personal favourites Crackerman, Trippin on a Hole in a Paper Heart, and Sex Type Thing). The only thing preventing this review from getting 5 stars is the simple fact that Dead and Bloated, Wicked Garden, and Creep were not played on this "20th anniversary of Core" tour, but otherwise, the whole show was fantastic!
What an unbelievable show! They played and sounded fantastic. Scott Weiland was the amazing front man we have all come to expect! Can't wait for a new CD to be released!
sound was awesome, scott's voice was great guys were really into it glad i drove the 180 miles one way on a work night
Originally STP was scheduled at the Winnipeg Convention Centre but changed to the Burton Cummings Theatre at the last minute...why, I have no clue. Scott was sobre this time and even interracted with the audience. After the opening act, Crash Kings, we were kept waiting for a while, but they eventually hit the stage and all was forgotten. They played quite a few of their hits and they even played Big Bang Baby, which I wasn't expecting, so that was nice. I am only giving this show 4 stars as the set was too short, the sound was too loud and distorted and the venue was too crowded. My feet were aching and my ears were ringing, but the show was worth it in the end, but maybe in a different venue.
It was a great concert, they had a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Unfortunately didn't play any of my old time favorites and was a bit too upbeat and modern for my taste.
Crash Kings were the opening band and they were a great choice to warm up the crowd. STP came on around 930pm and just brought the roof down. The show reminded me why the were and still are one of my favorite bands of all time. There is no doubt in my mind that I will have to see them again. Great job guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STP was amazing. Never a dull moment. Opening band was good just not much on the entertainment side of things. But STP rocked the house.... So good.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this group but was very disappointed. Seemed more like a Vegas act instead of a rocking rock concert. Waited forever for them to come on after Crash Kings, who were very good btw. Also disappointed they didn't play, Wicked Garden and a number of other more recent hits. Interacted with audience once which appeared to be set-up. Didn't introduce the band, acknowledge the city in which the concert was in, nothing. Not sure I would go see them again but I will keep listening to them on my i-pod by the fire drinking beers. Definitely NOT worth the $80 I paid to be 2nd row.
second time watching this band and I have to say they are amazing. Hope to see them again in the future.
I've always wanted to see these guys and finally many years later! Anyways the show was awesome other than I was waiting for my favorite 2 songs to be played which one would expect as an encore set along with "Dead and Bloated" - So guys if your listening - please next time add "Wicked Garden and Sex Type Thing" to the line up or add those to the encore at the end, because other than the great show you put on I was a little dissapointed in not hearing those songs.
STP are always a great show to watch. They always deliver. This time, however, I wish they would have played a few more of my fave songs (WICKED GARDEN)! This is our 4th time seeing them and we'd def go again!
I went to the stone temple pilots concert and had a great time! I go whenever i can, normally in toronto, but i made the drive to hamiliton
Stone Temple Pilots were awesome last night baby!!!! Scott Weiland's voice was in prime form and the Deleo Bros are always fantastic and Kretz drumming is amazing!!! Overall STP kicked ass tonight!!! Great show!!!!
This is the second time I have seen STP since 2009. I want to start off by saying they are a great band and I think they have a lot of great songs to choose from. I think overall I am a little disappointed in the concert overall. I last saw STP at Copps in 2009 and it was a much better rock show. By that I mean, more people and better sound. I think what will help STP pull in more people is a another great album to intoduce a new generation to a great rock band, lets face it the majority of the people at the concert were 30's and 40's. I would for sure see STP again, but I hope next time they have some new material to bring in a younger crowd and energy. The concert started slow but it did get better and better and I think the encore was the best part of the show
The guys were great, but unfortunately the sound system was not.
Copps wasn't the best for sound. It was really a lot of treble and gave you a headache by the end of the night. The band was great considering the sound wasn't the best. I saw them at the acc 2 summers ago and the sound was awesome.
