About

Styx have endured for over five decades while staying true to their progressive rock sound and theatrical live show. Since releasing their self-titled debut in 1972, Styx have sold over 54 million records worldwide between 17 studio albums, 16 compilations and nine live recordings. Notably, the band released four consecutive RIAA-certified multi-platinum albums between 1977’s The Grand Illusion, 1978’s Pieces of Eight, 1979’s Cornerstone and 1981’s Paradise Theatre, the last of which became their first to top the Billboard 200. Across their career, Styx earned eight Top 10 singles on the Hot 100, including the chart-topping “Babe” as well as “Come Sail Away” “Mr. Roboto” and their 1990 comeback single “Show Me the Way.” Despite several hiatuses and lineup changes, Styx have become one of rock’s most consistent touring acts, hosting nearly 100 live shows every year for over two decades and netting career-best earnings on massive co-headlining tours with REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and Def Leppard. In 2021, Styx released their seventeenth studio album, Crash of the Crown.

  • Styx w/ Larry Gowan was amazing!

by Julia T on 2019-12-05Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

They still have the chops after all these years, what an amazing nostalgic show they put on! Had floor seats but wish I had gone up to the stage as many others did!

  • Always impressed!

by Wendy - Concert Fan on 2019-11-19Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, well produced, and they sound amazing! Tommy Shaw can still rock it, and having Larry Gowan on vocals and piano is amazing. Great show, would see them again for sure.

  • Two thumbs up !

    by Markman23 on 2019-11-19Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Styx was incredible ! Just as I remembered from the 80's. They were bang on, just like being there decades ago. (:

  • Worst concert- Friday November 15

by Disappointed on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 1 out of 5

The sound crew should be fired or retrained! Was I at a surround sound of The movie Earthquake or a Styx concert? The volume on one of the bases was so loud it reverberated, shaking me in my seat and I couldn’t hear the words to the songs being sung. I wore earplugs - thank goodness- but even with those I had ringing in my ears for about 30 hours after. Had to get up and leave, which was unfortunate as none of my favourite songs had been played up till then (that I know of!)

  • Experience was fantastic. No problems with tickets

by Gem on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Meet and greet was fun. There was no hassles. Everyone listened to instructions The show was 2 hrs long and Styx's played excellent .The audience was into the concert singing etc. Can't wait for the next show

  • Really Great Show!

by Razor on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

I am a big concert goer and usually see about 10 concerts a year, and Styx is one band I've never seen, so I was really happy when I scored tickets. While Casino Rama is not my favorite venue, as I find the crowd to often be pretty low key, the band members did a great job making everyone feel appreciated and really worked to get the audience engaged. I'm looking forward to seeing Styx again soon.

  • Great Concert

by Nik on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Great Concert spanning over 47 years of Styx's songs, plus solo and side projects of the Band Members. Recommended for All Styx and Rock Fans!

  • Show review

by The A Team on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

Styx has put on a great show as usual. These guys are still Rockin it!! My only complaint was the sound. The bass and drums were overpowering everything else. Probably sound board operation.

  • Great show

by Mark on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show! Great band great sound! Great venue !

  • Styx Still Rocks

by Brad T. on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

I saw Styx at Rama and I must say, they can still rock with the best of them. Tommy Shaw Is like a fine wine; he seems to get better with time. Gowan has such a stage presence and is a fantastic performer; great addition to the band, whenever that was years ago.

  • Great show. Crowd dead

by Concert goer on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

Styx put on a fantastic show playing all of their classics. Tommy can still play an awesome guitar. As far as the venue (Casinorama in Orillia) acoustics are great but seating is very uncomfortable. All seats are attached so you feel all movements from the other 15 people in your row so not very good. Also, I know the band caters to the older crowd, but they seemed uninterested and ho-hum. Felt bad for the band at times as when they wanted everyone to sing along everyone sat glued to their seats. If your not going to show the band appreciation then stay home old folks! Gowan does a good job of replacing Dennis. Would see them again but not at same venue.

  • Styx at Casino Rama

by Randy on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

They put on an awesome concert playing all their hits as well as a couple of new tunes. Larry Gowan is an great fit with the band as well.

  • Meh

by Lynne on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 3 out of 5

We're big STYX fans but were disappointed this time. I'd say 2/3 rds of the concert was from a new album. I'm sorry, I know some of you go for this but we were there to hear their hits they were known for. That's the reason we go to the old band shows, to reminisce. We hit STYX everytime they come around here, but won't be going again until I see the setlist.

  • Styx Is It !

Styx concert was fantastic from start to finish. They continue to engage their audience and perform with lots of energy. A band that loves their fans and we love them back

  • Amazing concert

by Happygirl on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Right from the moment the show started to the last song, you were entertained the whole time. Gowan is an excellent addition to the group along with all the rest. Would definitely see them again. Only disappointment was they did not play “Babe.”

  • Super great show!

by Robsynth on 2019-11-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Styx put on a fantastic show with an energy and flow that made the night exceptional! Would definitely see them at Rama again: sound was spot on: loud and full but not piercing or uncomfortable.
