Styx have endured for over five decades while staying true to their progressive rock sound and theatrical live show. Since releasing their self-titled debut in 1972, Styx have sold over 54 million records worldwide between 17 studio albums, 16 compilations and nine live recordings. Notably, the band released four consecutive RIAA-certified multi-platinum albums between 1977’s The Grand Illusion, 1978’s Pieces of Eight, 1979’s Cornerstone and 1981’s Paradise Theatre, the last of which became their first to top the Billboard 200. Across their career, Styx earned eight Top 10 singles on the Hot 100, including the chart-topping “Babe” as well as “Come Sail Away” “Mr. Roboto” and their 1990 comeback single “Show Me the Way.” Despite several hiatuses and lineup changes, Styx have become one of rock’s most consistent touring acts, hosting nearly 100 live shows every year for over two decades and netting career-best earnings on massive co-headlining tours with REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and Def Leppard. In 2021, Styx released their seventeenth studio album, Crash of the Crown.

STYX are as good now as they were when they started !!! They are still a must see band !
Amazing, just amazing. It was the perfect flashback moment. They sounded great, put on a very energetic show and the crowd loved every single minute of it. I brought friends who were not sure about going with us, and they cant stop talking about it. They played almost 2 hours straight.....Great fun was had by all! I cant remember a better time at a concert in a very long time. Keep rockin boys, you still got it!!!
This is the third time I have seen Styx and this has to be the best so far. My friends and I walked out of this show saying we would get tix the next time they are here. Loved it.
Awesome! Most fun at a concert in a long time. These guys really love what they do and show it! There energy was infectious!!
A very enjoyable performance. I was curious how the absence of Dennis DeYoung would affect the band, but Lawrence Gowan is an able replacement. Still, a number of popular DeYoung songs were not performed at the concert: Babe, The Best of Times, Mr Roboto, Don't Let It End, to name a few. I also did not hear Tommy Shaw's Boat On The River. Gowan's solo performance of A Criminal Mind was a highlight. Styx is a retro group, but the mostly middle age crowd lapped it up.
Very interactive show with great performance and Class.Styxafied version of Crimainal Mind (Gowan) and great Lead guitar solos and drum solo...Great classic performances of Styx trademark songs.Only disapointment was no "Mr. Roboto","Babe" and "The Best of Times".Tommy Shaw Is amazing-very Talented!!
Can`t BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS WAS!!!!! I was a Styx fan back in th 70`s and thought it would be fun to see the band. It was ROCKIN`!! Everybody had SO much fun! Every bit as good as on the records from back then. Those guys should be playing REXALL, not River Cree! My husband went along thinking he was doing me a favor and instead it looks like I was doing HIM one!! He LOVED it!! S O glad we went. That piano guy Gowen is S O talented and obviously S O entertaining along with a FABULOUS voice! (I think I have a crush on him...shhh...don`t tell my husband!!) THANK YOU S O MUCH FOR A GREAT EVENING! ROCK ON!!!!
What can I say, words couldn't express how amazing the STYX concert was....that was my first time ever seeing them and they were as great as their recorded music. L.Gowan and Todd Sucherman fit in perfectly with the band. I saw Todd here at AXE MUSIC for his drum clinic, what a terrific drummer! Like I said words can't describe how amazing these guys played together with their sound, great harmony....kudos! *****+ for me
The first time I saw Styx in concert I was 16 years old. They came to Kelowna, B.C in 1977. and played an unforgettable show. I loved their music then and I love it now. Never would I have realized that I would be 48 years old and going back for more of their exceptional songs! I really loved that they played a lot of their old stuff, i.e. Lady, Lorelei and Prelude 12/Sweet Madame Blue. And of course, the icing on the cake, Crystal Ball. When Tommy Shaw started singing, the tears just rolled down my face. Way back in 1977, I won their Crystal Ball album from a radio station, you know; being the 10th caller. The album is framed and stands on my bedroom wall to this day! I would say I listen to Styx at least once a day and never in my wildest dreams would I have realized, that more than 30 years later, I would be going to their concert, screaming and clapping and having a wonderful time. Styx, you are better than ever. Thanks for giving me one of the best nights of my life! The solos at the end were amazing. They are truly masters of their craft and they played and looked liked they stilled loved making music and sharing their songs.
As I expected, it was great. They still can rock the house. I wish they would have played a little longer though. It just never seems to be enough. I hope they come back soon. I would like to see them back at the JET nightclub.
I went to see Dennis DeYoung about a year ago as the "Voice of Styx" and it was a good show but I didn't hear a lot of the songs I loved from Styx. Songs from Paradise Theater, Grand Illusion, Equinox. Gowan can't easily replace DeYoung but he comes damn close. His performance on vocals and keyboards was exceptional. I can see why they chose him now. The drummer Todd Sucherman was bang on when it came to following the Styx sound and feel for the songs, my hat is off to him for doing such a great job. It was great to see so many original players too. To see Tommy Shaw in person is just plain awesome. J.Y. Young played his guitar with total attitude, it was great. Hell, they even brought in the original bass player Panozzo for a cameo, not that the bass player Ricky Philips they normally have is bad though, as he was superb too. I came away from that concert totally satisfied and if they come back, I will be there again. Styx is alive and kicking!!! My only complaint was that I couldn't buy any memorabilia as their debit machine only worked with American debit cards.
Outstanding players who really know how to play their instruments. Todd Sucherman on drums is a force to reckon with !!
SEE ABOVE , NO MORE NEEDS TO BE SAID ...............
The preformance was wonderful. The guys looked great. The music was amazing, it was like it was over 25 years ago. Plus there was a bonus for me, Lawrence Gowan was accompanying them on keyboard... I love Gowan, and they even played his number one hit Crimanal Mind... love that song. I would go see these guys again and again. So if you enjoyed there music growing up I will guarantee you wont be disappointed. I hope they come back this way again next year.
They may be old but they can still rock n roll. Second time seing them and they get better every time.
Highly recommended! They put on an incredible show. I would see them every time they come to town. Sounds quality was great. Venue was great. Felt very intimate - like you were partying with the band.
What a concert. These guys we're so talented. Each member shined in their abilities and stage presentation. None of them looked as if they we're in their late 50s, 60s and we're on fire!!!
These guys are still a lot of fun. At times a little dated but they can still play well and put on a really good show. Gowan is a great performer and really adds to the energy of the band.
Tommy Shaw & James Young were great , Lawrence Gowan becomes better all the time . Todd Sucherman is one of the very best Rock Drummers today . Ricky Phillips fits in super , as Chuck Panozzo weakens a bit , but still an overall 5star performance at the River Cree in Edmonton last night
It was an awesome show - every tune was memorable. However, where was Mr.Roboto?!!!
