3 friends. 3 Years. 1 end goal - seeing SZA live.
In the year of 2020, I grew very close with 2 people who have been there for me through ups and downs. They introduced me to an artist which sounded familiar, but I didn’t really give it a listen. December 25th, 2020, Christmas Day and “Good Days” release day, is when I made the decision to listen to “Ctrl” in full. In that point in time, I fell in love with SZA and her music. Ranging from “Z” to “Ctrl” to “Hit Different” to “Good Days”, she stayed on repeat continuously throughout quarantine. From the first listen, I never understood why EVERYBODY is not listening to her. With the release of “SOS”, I was so excited, and so were my friends. With the millions of times we, as a group, listened to “SOS”, front to back, we made it a mission to secure tickets to her concert.
Securing floor tickets at Scotiabank Arena was very stressful. Prayed day and night to get tickets because without SZA, I do not think I would have came out of quarantine as the same person. As I had the opportunity to secure 3 tickets in Section D, it felt like our time listening to SZA for 3 years was all finally worth it. From the outfit changes, to the setlist, to the boat floating on what looked like water with the lights, to screaming my head off, every penny was worth spending to see her. If you are reading this, and have the opportunity to even get nosebleed seats, just do it. It was a 100/10 experience, especially after 5 years of not touring, she definitely made up for that. Thank you for reading this review, it took 3 years to complete it!
