The Cat Empire is a genre-defying ensemble that formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1999. Blending ska, jazz, rocksteady, and hip-hop, the six-piece produces a wildly eclectic sound and live show that has toured worldwide, from major festivals like Glastonbury to making buzzworthy appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The Cat Empire has produced multiple No. 1 albums in Australia, including Two Shoes (2005) and Rising with the Sun (2016). After announcing their decision to disband in 2021, a refreshed lineup was announced in July 2023 led by original members Ollie McGill and Felix Riebl with the additions of Grace Barbé on bass, Daniel Farrugia on drums, Neda Rahmani on percussion and Lazaro Numa on trumpet. On August 25, The Cat Empire released their ninth studio album, Where The Angels Fall, with a supporting world tour scheduled for the fall.

Amazing show- fabulous seats- great atmosphere. Cat empire killed it- like they do every time. So talented!!
The Cat Empire was just as amazing as I was hoping they would be live. They're just so darn talented!!!! Love them! The Danforth Music Hall is a great location for concerts. I'm happy we sat in seats though... I'm short, so standing cramped on the floor is never a good option for me. Also, Current Swell was great! I hadn't heard them before and quite liked them.
The staff were friendly and the place was great so thank you for that. However, I booked online for Cat Empire and I thought the concert is planned to be started at 7:00 PM. The concert started at 8:00 and with a different band. So from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM we had to listen to some music we did not enjoy at all. And finally the Cat Empire showed up at 9:00 PM. If I knew Cat Empire would start at 9:00 I would have spent my two hours from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM else where. I have to add that the band "CAT EMPIRE" were epic and amazing as expected.
One of the BEST concerts I've been to. Brought 2 friends that have never seen The Cat Empire. They are in love!
Amazing band, amazing time, haven't seen such a talented band perform in a long long time
If you love to dance and enjoy a band's music, then this is the band for you. The venue is great for feeling like you're close to them, even if at the back of the room. But if you like to dance, don't buy a balcony ticket. I felt sorry for those guys back there and up there.
This was one of the most amazing concerts! I have never seen the crowd at the Burt dance so hard! And what talented musicians! I have been waiting many years to see them and I will drop everything to see them when they come into town next!
Their music and energy are amazing, and Current Swell was awesome too. I would see both of them again.
Great musicians that knock your socks off? Totally blown away. Can't wait for them to come around again!
A great night in a great venue. This band knows how to get everyone up and moving!
Fantastic show as usual!! First saw them a few years back as a free outdoor show at the Jazz Fest. Fell in love immediatly. I've seen them four times since. Keep bringing them back, please!!!!!
Every time I see them they're better than the last.
The Garrick is a great venue, The Cat Empire is an AMAZING band. Outstanding show, they have a ton of energy, they played a boat load of their 'hits' and kept the whole place moving. The WHOLE floor was 'swaying' in unison at several points. All around amazing show, loved it. Though I will note.. the opener seemed fine, They were totally lost in my memory after cat empire blew me away.
I've been a fan of the Cat Empire for years and was so excited to get to see them live in Calgary! They did not disappoint!! The whole crowd was singing and dancing it was such a great time. Fantastic musicians and performers.
Amazing show. Awesome dance music. Listening to The Cat Empire is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, especially live!
awesome band. even more amazing live! Their ability to improv is the best!
Now I'm a Cat Empire fan, so I am biased, I'll admit that flat out. That being said, this was without a doubt the best show I've ever been to. These guys are incredibly entertaining live, with amazing skills. Every member's soloing skills are just fantastic. The energy they brought and played with, you couldn't help but dance, sitting or standing! An excellent mix of new and old, perfect for any Cat Empire fan.
it was a pretty ok show, they did play most of the songs i wanted to hear, and they played them well, want i didn't like is that some of those songs like two shoes, in my pocket, so many nights and others are great songs but they extended them with long music breaks, that seem more to their enjoyment, they must get bored playing them repeteadly so they amuze themselves playing improvisations and solos wich is good and all, but all the time they spend on those big long music breaks could be used to play three or four more of their great songs, why can't musicians exept from punk rockers just play the songs without additions just the song as they are and as we the listeners fell in love with them. they are very talented, musically and lyricaly, so cheers for them.
As usual, The Cat Empire gives an incredible performance ! Every single member of the band is fantastic ! The quality of the sound and of lighting gave an extra touch of delight to the evening ! Can't wait for a next performance in Montreal !
