About
THE DICKIES IN CONCERT:
California punk pioneers The Dickies have been entertaining audiences with their irreverent tunes and bawdy on-stage antics since the late '70s, and they've lost none of their humor or edge over the years. Beloved frontman Leonard Graves Phillips remains a consummate showman, treating fans at the group's live shows to plenty of frenzied energy as he sings campy anthems like "Stukas Over Disneyland" and "She's a Hunchback". Joining him on stage on stage is his signature puppet sidekick, a phallic "member" named Stuart that fans have come to know and love. Whether The Dickies are charging through originals like "Banana Splits (Tra La La Song)" or playing unique covers of classics like "Nights in White Satin", they always treat ticket buyers to a rip-roaring show that's as funny and ironic as it is chock-full of genuine punk attitude.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
The Dickies formed in Los Angeles in 1977, quickly making a name for themselves as one of the city's first punk bands. They made their live debut later that year at the legendary Whiskey a Go Go club, and in 1978 they became the first California punk band to land major label backing when they signed with A&M Records. They made their debut on the label in 1979 with The Incredible Shrinking Dickies, a rollicking first effort that earned them a minor hit in the UK with the single "Paranoid". A string of popular UK singles followed including the band's 1978 cover of Christmas classic "Silent Night" and their benchmark single "Banana Splits (Tra La La Song)" -- a No. 7 hit on the UK Singles Chart in 1979. A string of playful albums followed throughout the '80s and '90s including several popular live albums that stand as a testament to the their enduring popularity. Despite numerous lineup changes over the years, longtime frontman Leonard Graves Phillips remains a constant, and he continues to lead The Dickies as they deliver their catalog of wry punk classics on tour.
