This was the third time I have seen the Fixx. The first was in the late 80s when they were one of the top emerging new wave bands. They were sensational then. The next time was about 15 years later in a club setting in Montreal. Again, they were exceptional, but showed a maturity in their style and performance that clearly reflected evolution over the prior decade. The most recent concert they gave at the Hard Rock Casino in Vancouver was both a platform to showcase the fact that the band were still writing and creating new and relevant music; and, that as artists they had lost none of their considerable talent. It is remarkable that after 25 years these guys have not stopped the creative writing process. Cy Curnin's vocals were as good as they were at the first show I saw, and Jamie West-Oram's guitar licks were as strong as ever. Rupert Greenall (keyboards), Adam Woods (drums), and Dan K. Brown (bass) rounded out the band and provided strong contributions of their own throughout the set list. The hall was not a sell out, and that's a shame. It was probably due to it being the Canada Day long weekend. However, those that attended were treated to a fine and memorable reminder that this band still has "It". Well done guys, keep it up. You delivered...again!
