The Psychedelic Furs scored in the ‘80s when John Hughes featured “Pretty in Pink” in his classic 1986 teen comedy Pretty in Pink, naming his film after The Furs’ song. Led by lead vocalist Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass, the band’s 1981 sophomore album Talk Talk Talk (featuring “Pretty in Pink”) debuted on the Billboard 200. Their follow-up, Forever Now (1982) included the Billboard Hot 100 hit “Love My Way,” a staple of ‘80s Top 40 radio. Their 1987 release Midnight to Midnight because their highest-charting album on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit single “Heartbreak Beat.” The Furs went on hiatus in the ‘90s and reformed in 2000 for a co-headlining tour with The Go-Go’s and B-52’s. In 2017, the band's 1984 song "The Ghost in You" was featured in Netflix’s Stranger Things.

What a great way to celebrate our 29th anniversary. Wasn’t sure what to expect. They were awesome!! I wish they would have played 2 nights! Need more Merch for next time though!😉
The Furs are long in the tooth, but still capable of putting on a great show. And with a fine recent album to showcase, they nailed it in front of an appreciative Commodore audience. Missed X as the backup, but all reports from X fans is that it was sublime, too. Some aging bands tour for the money, but the Furs are definitely in it for the music.
They played all the hits and then some. Richard Butler is the ultimate showman, very animated and very expressive. Plus, his voice is as good as ever, with just enough raspiness. I was in Heaven ;)
Absolutely awesome concert with the Furs' new album which had great new Furs music, yet peppered with some of the true favourites. Love to see Richard Butler still has it and as always love his signature squat as he sings to you!!! Great performance by whole band!!
The Furs were in excellent form; I only knew "Pretty in Pink" so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed what I presumed to be the rest of their back catalogue. So go and see them. The 'warm up' band 'X' were interesting because they are a very famous punk band. But I hadn't heard much of their music. They had a couple of interesting numbers, but most of it was tuneless repetition -essentially punk played competently. In those days they were ground breaking, but today it felt really dated without much that stands out by way of a tune. Still, they were amusingly ironic when they interacted, so go see them for the entertainment. MTELUS is an excellent venue in terms of sight lines, bars, atmosphere, accessibility, but the air conditioning was turned up to 11. I know we are in Canada (Montreal to be exact) but I like my rock and roll to be hot and sweaty, and considering this was held in the summer, cranking up the AC is not exactly environmentally sustainable either. MTELUS is not the only venue doing this so please, other venues, Rock is hot and sweaty - that's part of the atmosphere. And, as an added bonus, you will sell more beers. As it was, I was looking for coffee.
I saw them in the 80s at the Spectrum. It brought back great memories! MTELUS is a great venue
X and the psychedelic furs are both improving with age. Great mix of the best old material and stuff from their most recent albums. Billy zoom is one of the greatest guitarists in punk history and John Doe and Exene were in great voice. I wasn’t sure the furs could top them, but they did. Richard Butler has developed into a Bowie level showman, his voice was in great shape and the band was fantastic. Great way to resume the live concert experience after three very long years!
the furs were in top notch form playing all their hits, everyone loved this show. toronto, history was the perfect venue.altho i didnt appericiate all the stage smoke all night long that washed out all my photos... it never seamed to clear!
Awesome concert , great sound, friendly staff. Good parking close by.
