About

The Psychedelic Furs scored in the ‘80s when John Hughes featured “Pretty in Pink” in his classic 1986 teen comedy Pretty in Pink, naming his film after The Furs’ song. Led by lead vocalist Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass, the band’s 1981 sophomore album Talk Talk Talk (featuring “Pretty in Pink”) debuted on the Billboard 200. Their follow-up, Forever Now (1982) included the Billboard Hot 100 hit “Love My Way,” a staple of ‘80s Top 40 radio.  Their 1987 release Midnight to Midnight because their highest-charting album on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit single “Heartbreak Beat.” The Furs went on hiatus in the ‘90s and reformed in 2000 for a co-headlining tour with The Go-Go’s and B-52’s. In 2017, the band's 1984 song "The Ghost in You" was featured in Netflix’s Stranger Things

The Psychedelic Furs with X - The Band Concert

by Louie on 2022-07-11History - Toronto

Really enjoying the new venue History in Toronto. Climate control is excellent. Clean large space and sound is very good. This time around there were national network outages with Rogers phones however Ticketmaster sent out ample notifications indicating how to download tickets to our wallets to use. Staff at History are friendly and helpful. Both the Psychedelic Furs and X The Band performed amazing upbeat and energetic sets. Engaging the audience and made it an amazing night for us all.

    Just like the album

    by Mark G. on 2022-07-11History - Toronto

They must have made a deal with the devil, sounded too good, looked to young. Someone should look into it.

    Ok

by Furry on 2022-07-11History - Toronto

Wish they’d done ‘Sister Europe’, ‘Here Come Cowboys’, and ‘Heartbeat’. Other than that: Richard Butler’s voice still sounds as good as ever; possibly better, in fact.

    Great show nice venue

by Darin on 2022-07-11History - Toronto

Really enjoyed X and Psychedelic Furs at History. Nice venue, good sound. If any criticism it was that security seemed a little overbearing. Metal detectors at entrance, pat downs at their discretion, lots of security walking around. I was discouraged from sitting in the floor between shows despite the fact I was against a wall and not impeding traffic/causing an obstruction

    Great venue!

by Barbyh on 2022-07-11History - Toronto

I absolutely love an intimate concert venue. This was excellent! All the hits were played. Wasn’t too impressed with the opening band didn’t really match their 80’s vibe.

    Dance party

by Sandra on 2019-08-03Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Great concert with an audience of dedicated Furs fans. Featuring James was an awesome surprise as well. Lots of dancing for these two great bands from the 80’s. Great night!

Great band ... too bad about the venue

    by M. L. on 2019-07-12REBEL - Toronto

Sound quality was very disappointing. Recent show at the Danforth Music Hall was amazing. The band was great but the sound at Rebel was muddy and flat.

    James was the ultimate co-headliner

    by Tammy H on 2019-07-10REBEL - Toronto

There was a warm up band before James which was really good but I didn't get the name. Then James came on and put on a fantastic show. The Psychedelic Furs played all their hits which I loved. His brother Tum was creepy as he mouthed the words at the edge of the stage as Richard Butler sang. At the beginning of President Gas Richard put his hand up in a nazi type salute which was uncomfortable. Overall I'm glad I got to see an 80's fav with James.

    Furs were great, but...

by Spiff on 2019-07-09REBEL - Toronto

I'm a Furs fan. That's who I went to see. James was also on the bill and there were obviously a lot of fans of that band in attendance. But I wouldn't have paid to see them. The 70 minutes we got out of the Furs were great but I'd rather have 2 hours of just them and some other band I don't care about.

    Fantastic show!

    Slightly Disappointed

by Ludditesunite on 2019-07-08REBEL - Toronto

Both James and The Psychedelic Furs played well but the set for the James was restricted to only an hour with no encore which was disappointing given the great material they have produced. Secondly, I found much of the crowd present more interested in simply drinking and socializing than focused upon the music which detracted from the overall sound quality and enjoyment of the concert.

    Terrible venue

    by D. T. on 2019-07-08REBEL - Toronto

The sound at rebel is not great. They were much better at the Danforth. James was amazing.

    by 80’s girl on 2019-07-08REBEL - Toronto

It was worth getting the mezzanine seating. We could see clearly with room to dance. The Furs played all their hits. I forgot how many I knew. Overall a fantastic night v
