About

Built on the solid, classic rock foundation of three-part harmonies and dual guitar leads, Canada's Juno Award-winning Sheepdogs blend Southern rock, groove-based psychedelia, and bluesy barroom swagger into a modern rock & roll revival. Emerging in 2004, the band found mainstream success in 2010 with the release of their platinum-selling third LP, Learn & Burn, and continued to top the Canadian charts with efforts like The Sheepdogs (2012), Future Nostalgia (2015), Changing Colours (2018), and Outta Sight (2022).

Hailing from the Saskatchewan city of Saskatoon, the band features the talents of Ewan Currie (vocals, guitar), Ryan Gullen (bass), Sam Corbett (drums), Shamus Currie (keyboard/trombone) and Rick Paquette (guitar). From Canadian roadhouses to global music festivals, their on-stage and on-road hours are countless, underscoring their endurance in the music scene. The release of Future Nostalgia and Changing Colours further enriched their discography, leading up to the 2022 release of the jubilant hook-filled Outta Sight, solidifying their impact in the rock domain.

Most recently, their singles from Outta Sight spent a cumulative 90 weeks with at least 1 song in the top 20 at Canadian Rock radio. Prior, their hit singles "I Don't Know" and "Feeling Good" both reached Platinum certification, with "The Way It Is" achieving Gold sales. Additionally, the albums Learn & Burn and The Sheepdogs both achieved Platinum status, and to date the band has been nominated for 11 JUNO awards, winning four.

  • Great Show - Ticket Process sucks

by Scotty on 2021-09-07Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Great show. Sheepdogs and all the backup acts played great. What wasn't great was getting my tickets. I like to have hard copies to both remember the show and ensure that i am not reliant on my phone that may not work, get stolen/lost, not have service etc. Had trouble getting my tickets and then further onto the phone. Ticketmaster does not provide live in person help and their help online did not work. Caused some preshow angst that could have been avoided with proper customer service. Wont go to a show this way again. Sad since Ticketmaster simply needs to listen to its customers and provide REAL customer service.

  • They put on a hell of a show!!

I love the sheepdogs !! They are amazing to watch perform! The opening acts were excellent, the venue was top notch, and the staff were all stoked to be apart of one of the first shows back in nearly two years!

  • Glad to be back!

by EnglishBayDan on 2021-09-06Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

From start to finish we had a blast. Entry to the Malkin bowl was a breeze. For the most part no one really crowded anybody else. The artists were amazing and I think everyone had a great time. Can’t wait to get back to the Malkin bowl!

  • Amazing!!

This show was unreal. Despite coyote attack and Covid fears, the Sheepdogs and the venue organizers managed to create an environment that felt safe. The band brought a lot of energy and kept everyone swaying and dancing. I can’t wait for them to tour Vancouver again.

  • Awesome experience! A fabulous performance.

3rd time seeing the Sheepdogs, 2nd in Malkin Bowl and they are just such a talented group of musicians. They are entertaining, funny, and they sound as good live as they do in their recorded music, and the magic of seeing them at Malkin Bowl just can't be beat.

  • Great Sober Event - for me

    by Shannon G. on 2021-09-06Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

The event itself was great. My first time to The Malkin Bowl. The biggest downside is the credit card machines at the drink ticket stand “weren’t working” so it was cash only - I hadn’t brought cash because the Ticketmaster email earlier that day indicated credit cards accepted. The staff told me of ATMs on site - but I’m not about to pay a cash-advance fee on my credit card. Thankfully the food vendors’ credit card tap WAS working, so water and popcorn it was!

  • Amazing - loved the local bands

    by M on 2021-09-03Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing!!!! Found some great new music from all the wonderful local bands I had never heard of!!!!!! Said the whale was the highlight for me! Sheepdogs we’re awesome too, they are aptly named

  • Fun band

by jetsfan on 2021-08-24Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Good headliners for a fun evening. Also loved Said the Whale who played just before the Sheepdogs. Great songs and energetic performance by all.

  • Bands were great

by MGD on 2021-08-24Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 3 out of 5

Really disappointed the venue was moved inside as Saturday was the perfect evening to be out. Promise of food trucks was more than disappointing. There were 2 and one was mini donuts. We were a group of 8 all expecting to have supper supporting the local food scene. Popcorn became supper, not happy with the lack of food. Outdoor beer sales were in a bad spot, should have been moved to the street where mech was being sold. Would have provided for 3 lines not 1.

  • Even the crappy Walker theater couldn't ruin it!

by Jon on 2021-08-24Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Thanks SD's! Probability the most high energy shows ive ever seen you preform!!!! One of the few bands I will tolerate the 50 year old seats, slanty floor and poor ventilation for. security staff tonight were really nice!

  • Awesome show!

  • 70S SOUTHERN ROCK RETURNS!

by PoeticGem on 2018-09-04Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The Sheepdogs take me back - to the Allman Brothers, Lynrd Skynrd and the like.... awesome musicians. Perfect summer night sitting on our blanket on the hill :) Should have brought cushions though - butt got kinda numb. I was amused by the elaborate set up to get drinks. At $8 a pop there was never a line-up. Two pieces of i.d. to get a wrist band to buy your drink tickets and then get your drinks. $5 hot dogs. ugh! And the amount of security and police amused me. Did they expect a riot? It was very peaceful. The opener Tera Lightfoot was an excellent performer as well. I really had to laugh when the lead singer was talking and said he wouldn't talk too long because that wasn't what we came for... and made a comparison of how if he went to see Hall & Oates he was there to hear the hits like Maneater :) did this as a segue into another hit. All and all great night - I would see them again without a doubt.

  • Sheepdogs were amazing

What a great venue. We lucked out with the weather.

  • Delay handled poorly by venue

by MTMM on 2018-09-04Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

We showed up on time only to learn from the lone security guard that because of a wedding next door the concert was delayed by almost 2 hours. The Sheedogs were amazing but the communications at the event were poor.

  • Sheepdogs were amazing!

Absolutely must see band if you like a nice Allman Brothers/Santana etc. groove. Awesome musicians that put on a must see show.

  • So good!!

The Sheepdogs were awesome. The fact that the show was at Massey Hall was even better! The crowd was so into it!
