About

Built on the solid, classic rock foundation of three-part harmonies and dual guitar leads, Canada's Juno Award-winning Sheepdogs blend Southern rock, groove-based psychedelia, and bluesy barroom swagger into a modern rock & roll revival. Emerging in 2004, the band found mainstream success in 2010 with the release of their platinum-selling third LP, Learn & Burn, and continued to top the Canadian charts with efforts like The Sheepdogs (2012), Future Nostalgia (2015), Changing Colours (2018), and Outta Sight (2022).

Hailing from the Saskatchewan city of Saskatoon, the band features the talents of Ewan Currie (vocals, guitar), Ryan Gullen (bass), Sam Corbett (drums), Shamus Currie (keyboard/trombone) and Rick Paquette (guitar). From Canadian roadhouses to global music festivals, their on-stage and on-road hours are countless, underscoring their endurance in the music scene. The release of Future Nostalgia and Changing Colours further enriched their discography, leading up to the 2022 release of the jubilant hook-filled Outta Sight, solidifying their impact in the rock domain.

Most recently, their singles from Outta Sight spent a cumulative 90 weeks with at least 1 song in the top 20 at Canadian Rock radio. Prior, their hit singles "I Don't Know" and "Feeling Good" both reached Platinum certification, with "The Way It Is" achieving Gold sales. Additionally, the albums Learn & Burn and The Sheepdogs both achieved Platinum status, and to date the band has been nominated for 11 JUNO awards, winning four.

  • Sheepdogs and Yukon Blonde killed it!

by CatR on 2012-12-20Kelowna Community Theatre - KelownaRating: 4 out of 5

Really great show...took me back to my youth and the Allman Brothers, the Band, Bachman Turner Overdrive. Good, solid rock 'n' roll with some excellent bluesy riffs - the trombone was a very cool unexpected touch! The only detriment to the show was the lighting - the designer obviously didn't consider the audience when he was positioning the lights. Quite often, my companion and I had to close our eyes and look away because of the strobing effect of the lights, pointed right into our eyes.

  • The Sheepdogs...awesome!

One of the best groups I've seen in a long time. Put on a great show and played for a good long time. Loved every minute of it!

Amazing feel-good concert. Set consisted mostly of tremendous songs from "Learn & Burn" which is my favourite to date. The crowd was a bit odd, crowd-surfing to all the mellow tunes. Intense show from the band. One of the last in this venue (The old Red's/Edmonton Event Center.) Opening band Yukon Blonde was quite good live and shared the stage with the Sheepdogs for a finale song by The Band. Great show, would come back to see the Sheepdogs in a smaller venue every time!

  • Those boys make beautiful music!

I was looking forward to the opener, as a friend had told me that they were fab. I researched them a bit before hitting the show, but was disappointed at their tinny sound. And the vocals were too quiet. I don't know if it was because of our seats, or the sound check didn't go well, but the sound was very off in my opinion. The sheepdogs were brilliant as usual. I love their laid back feel, and comfortableness on stage. I don't feel as if they "perform", they just get up and play what they love. I have seen them twice this year, and once last year. They are a gem that not many people appreciate.

  • sheep dogs sounded great

  • Sheepdogs are the real deal

by TheRealDeadHeadInThePeg on 2012-12-13Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Finally, after two disasters, decent sound at the Walker. Opening act Yukon Blonde blew me away. Incredible energy, great songs. Not many guys get up stage front with a Rickenbacker, but it sounded as good as it should. I'd be scared to try to follow the Blondes, but the Shaggy Ones from Saskatoon were undaunted. They ripped through their set with energy and precision. Face it, four albums (and one EP) in, Ewan and the boys know what they're doing. Ewan is obviously a bit of a guitar geek as his two electric axes of choice were a Reverse Firebird and a Flying V. There was tasty use of keys and a rock solid rhythm section. At times, you could close your eyes and imagine that you were at a Skynyrd show, in the 70's, without Freebird (or without the music sounding dated). As if to drive home the point, the final encore brought Yukon Blonde and about three other people back out with the 'dogs for a rousing rendition of the Canadian classic, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Great ending to a great show.

  • Sheepdogs Rocked!!!

The Sheepdogs put on a awesome show in a bigger venue then i ve seen them in before. The place was packed. Everyone stood for the entire show. While not big enough yet, it will not be long til you see them playing the mts. Yukon blond put on a pretty good show and could be seen after the show signing autographs.

  • Top dawg!

by AustralianShepard on 2012-12-06Guelph Theatre - GuelphRating: 5 out of 5

It had everything. The venue - small, intimate and it smelled of dirty socks. The way rock'n rock was meant to be heard. As the beer flowed I wanted to see if three things held up. 1) That voice 2) the guitar riffs 3) that they could actually play and deliver. And the answer is Yes, Yes, Yes. I've always want to be in that venue that people would say, "I was there when the Sheepdogs played in Guelph ... on their way to the top." And I was!!!!!!

  • Sheepdogs were tight and rockin!

  • Great bands, great venue

Our party of 4 born on the late 40s & 50s could not resist the opportunity to see The Sheep Dogs. There has been a lot of buzz on their retro presentation. We were pleasantly surprised by Yukon Blond., quite a dynamic new group from Vancouver. They perform with skill and conviction. The Sheep Dogs have studied the music from times past very well. Their modern sound is well infused with sounds reminiscent of many of our favorite artists & bands.

This concert was awesome! They are awesome! one of the best shows I've seen. The energy they brought to the stage and out of the crowd was great. They sound better live than they do on their albums, they've got an edge to them! Highly recommend seeing them, for only $40 you can't go wrong!

Most often display of Canadian talent. I have been fortunate to see all these bands in different settings and am most happy to say that they are getting better everytime I see them. Zeus's is drummer has a music school in Barrie where my grandson take s lessons...which was part of the reason we got tickets for the 12 yr olds introcuction to rock and roll and Canadian Music at its best.Zeus rocked on....Sadies changed it up with some incredible guitar talent, Yukon Blonde just took over the stage....And what a build up for the Sheep Dogs....New sounds, more polished and mose awesome.! Only bad thing was a misplaced canon camera....and all our pics...lost...So hey post lots of pics all so we can share the incredible eveing it was

When a concert ends in a cover of The Band's 'The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down' you know its a great concert.

An amazing show. Could have rocked out to the Sheepdogs all night long.

  • by Anonymous on 2012-09-17Echo Beach powered by Rogers - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Sheepdogs alone were worth it, but the incredible opening bands made it an unforgettable experience! The only downfall was Echo Beach's poor excuse for functioning restrooms
